Lucas could practice those spells himself sooner or later, and there was no need to risk his life over them.
But Grindelwald's version?
That was a completely different story.
This was an upgraded form of Fiendfyre personally modified by Gellert Grindelwald himself. Just thinking about that terrifying black flame made Lucas's heart itch with excitement.
He wanted it badly.
Unfortunately, the system had made one thing painfully clear.
If he wanted the reward, he had to personally defeat Fenrir Greyback.

And according to the system, this opportunity only existed once. If he missed it now, the reward would be gone forever.

Could he beat Greyback?

Trying to steal a kill from Dumbledore was harder than defeating Greyback himself.

The most likely outcome was that by the time Lucas caught up, all he would see was Greyback tied up like a dumpling and floating helplessly in the air.

Lucas gritted his teeth.
He had to try.
Taking advantage of the chaos, he quietly slipped away from the battlefield. The Aurors were busy capturing prisoners and rescuing children from the cages. Nobody noticed one small wizard sneaking off toward the edge of the forest.
Once he confirmed nobody was watching, his body instantly dissolved into rolling black mist.
The Obscurus shot through the trees at terrifying speed.
Lucas controlled the dark fog carefully as he searched through the forest in silence. In Obscurus form, his senses became unbelievably sharp. Every movement, every scent, and every vibration within the woods flowed clearly into his awareness.
Before long, he found Greyback's trail.
Broken branches.
Fresh claw marks.
Heavy footprints gouged deep into the earth.
Lucas accelerated immediately.
Soon, he finally spotted the massive werewolf racing through the forest ahead.
Joy surged through him.
Perfect.
Dumbledore had not caught up yet.
Greyback's speed in werewolf form was terrifyingly fast. If Lucas had not transformed into the Obscurus, there was no way he could have kept up.
The black mist rapidly closed the distance.
Then—
Boom!
The Obscurus suddenly expanded violently and slammed into Greyback from behind, lifting the enormous werewolf directly into the air.
Bang!
Greyback crashed into the ground hard enough to shake the forest floor.
At that height, an ordinary wizard would already be dead. Only Greyback's monstrous werewolf body allowed him to survive the impact.
Lucas instantly returned to human form and rushed forward while raising his wand.
He had originally intended to cast the Killing Curse immediately.
But the moment his wand moved, the green light vanished before it could appear.
Instead, a red spell burst forward.
Stupefy!
Because Lucas had already sensed Dumbledore approaching.
The old wizard was not far behind him at all. Worse, Lucas could feel those piercing blue eyes locked directly onto his back.
Dumbledore had no idea how terrifying Lucas's perception had become in Obscurus form.
To Lucas's senses, Dumbledore's enormous magical power was practically a blazing lighthouse in the darkness.
At the same time, Lucas's danger-warning talent activated.
Within ten seconds, Dumbledore would intervene to stop him.
So with advance warning, Lucas instantly swapped the Killing Curse for a Stunning Spell.
Bang!
Greyback had only just struggled halfway back to his feet when the fully empowered Stunning Spell slammed into him head-on.
The enormous werewolf was blasted backward several yards.
However, Greyback's resistance to magic while transformed was absurdly high. Even Lucas's upgraded Stunning Spell failed to knock him unconscious completely.
As expected of a natural-born werewolf.
Greyback crashed onto the ground, dazed and shaking, as if he might faint at any moment. But he viciously bit down on his own tongue, using the pain to force himself back to clarity.
His wolf-like eyes fixed on Lucas with caution and disbelief.
That spell was dangerous.
If he took another direct hit, he would absolutely go down.
But what shocked him even more was the caster himself.
This was just a teenager.
How could a child cast such powerful magic?
Lucas did not hesitate.
He immediately fired another spell.
"Petrificus Totalus!"
Greyback's reflexes in werewolf form were astonishingly fast. With a sharp leap, he dodged the Body-Bind Curse completely.
Lucas's attack pattern was too obvious.
The moment he dodged, Greyback lunged forward like a wild beast.
His speed was terrifying.
At such close range, there should have been no way for Lucas to avoid him.
Greyback's wolf eyes gleamed with savage excitement. In his mind, he could already see the boy torn apart beneath his claws and fangs.
So what if the brat knew magic?
He was still just an inexperienced child.
Meanwhile, hidden nearby, Dumbledore finally moved.
Originally, he had intended to observe Lucas's combat ability for a little longer. But now that Greyback had closed the distance, it was time to intervene.
Saving Lucas would be effortless for him.
Dumbledore had already begun raising the Elder Wand—
Then paused.
Because he suddenly realized Lucas did not need saving at all.
Not only did the boy dodge Greyback's attack with perfect timing, he even countered at point-blank range with astonishing precision.
"Impedimenta!"
Bang!
The full-powered Impediment Jinx slammed directly into Greyback's waist.
The giant werewolf was blasted backward like a cannonball before crashing violently into a towering tree.
But at the exact moment Greyback hit the trunk, several branches above suddenly twisted and transformed.
Transfiguration.
In an instant, the branches became razor-sharp swords.
Slash!
The blades pierced straight through Greyback's body and nailed him firmly to the tree.
The werewolf let out a final choking gasp as blood poured from his chest.
He was already dying.
System notifications exploded inside Lucas's mind.
"Ding! Congratulations, host. Mission completed: Rescue the abducted children and clear the werewolf camp."
"Rewards granted: Host treasure chest x1. Skill points +2."
"Ding! Congratulations, host. Successfully defeated Fenrir Greyback."
"Reward granted: Grindelwald's Exclusive Fiendfyre mastered at maximum level."
Greyback stared at Lucas in disbelief.
He could not understand it.
That attack should have connected.
There was no way a child could dodge his pounce at that distance.
Yet Lucas had moved before he even attacked, almost as if he had predicted the future.
Of course, Greyback had no way of knowing that every one of his movements had already been exposed by Lucas's danger-warning talent.
Lucas had dodged effortlessly before blasting him directly into the tree.
The instant the swords pierced Greyback's chest, Lucas silently detonated them with magic.
Greyback's heart had been shredded apart completely.
No amount of vitality or regeneration could survive that kind of fatal wound.
Lucas secretly shook his head.
When he tried using dark magic himself, Dumbledore immediately rushed over to stop him.
But now Lucas had used a spell Dumbledore personally taught him to brutally execute someone, and the old man had simply stood nearby watching the entire thing happen.
Headmaster… doesn't your conscience hurt?
Of course, Lucas also understood that he had never truly been in danger. At that distance, Dumbledore could absolutely have saved him instantly if anything went wrong.
Still, Greyback's attack had genuinely been lethal, which was why his danger-warning ability had activated in the first place.
Dumbledore finally stepped out from the shadows of the forest.
His blue eyes shone with approval and relief.
"What a marvelous spell, my boy," he said warmly. "I'm very proud of you."
Then his expression softened even further.
"But what makes me even happier is that even in such a dangerous moment, you still chose not to use an Unforgivable Curse again."
"I must admit… that truly puts my mind at ease."
