PROLOGUE: THE CURSE OF BLOOD

The night was dark, and the palace halls were silent except for the sound of boots hitting marble.

In the grand study of the Crown Prince, four people stood in the shadows. The air was thick with hatred and greed.

"Brother thinks he is so great," Juipeng spat, his voice shaking with anger. "He walks around like he owns the world! The people cheer for him, the generals respect him, even the gods favor him! He is the strongest warrior in the empire, and soon… soon they will ask him to replace me as heir!"

He slammed his hand on the table, making the teacups rattle.

"I will not let that happen. Lhu Hann must die. Before he takes everything from me."

General Bai San bowed, his face cold. "Your Highness, my army is at your command. We can arrange an 'accident' during the next hunt. Or a battle."

"Make it clean," Yein Chen, the Guard Commander, spoke in a low voice. "No one will know it was us."

Lady Louying smiled, her eyes full of malice. "And once that warrior is gone, Your Highness will be the only ruler. And I… I will be your Empress."

Juipeng grinned, a cruel and twisted expression. "Yes. And nothing will stand in our way. Not even blood."

Outside the door, a single petal fell from a rose. Somewhere far away, the ancient Phoenix Jade glowed faintly, as if awakening from a long sleep.

The game of thrones has begun.

CHAPTER 1: THE WARRIOR AND THE LADY

The sun rose over the capital, painting the sky in shades of gold and red. The people of Sheng City lined the streets, cheering loudly as a group of soldiers marched in.

At the front rode a man on a white horse. He wore silver armor that shone like stars, his face was handsome and calm, and his eyes held a kindness that made everyone feel safe.

"Prince Lhu Hann! Long live Prince Lhu Hann!"

Lhu Hann smiled and waved at the crowd. He had just returned from defeating the bandits that terrorized the northern borders, and he did not lose a single soldier. That was who he was—strong, but never cruel.

When he arrived at the palace, he went straight to the throne room to report to the Emperor. But as he walked through the gardens, he heard a soft gasp.

He turned, and saw a young woman standing by the lake, holding a book. She was wearing a light blue hanfu, her hair tied with a white ribbon, and her eyes were as bright as the moon. She looked like a goddess who had stepped down from the heavens.

She was Wie Chenn. She had come to the palace with her father to attend the royal banquet.

Wie Chenn froze when she saw him. She knew who he was—everyone did. The strongest warrior, the kind prince.

Lhu Hann bowed slightly. "My apologies, miss. I did not mean to startle you."

Wie Chenn curtsied, her cheeks turning pink. "No, Your Highness. It is I who should apologize for being in your way."

Their eyes met, and for a moment, the world around them seemed to disappear. It was not just attraction. It was a pull, something ancient and magical, as if their souls had known each other long before this day.

Lhu Hann felt his heart beat faster. He had fought hundreds of battles, faced death a thousand times, but never had he felt this way.

"What is your name?" he asked softly.

"Wie Chenn, Your Highness."

"Wie Chenn," he repeated, as if memorizing a precious song. "It is nice to meet you."

Little did they know, their meeting was not just fate. It was the beginning of a journey that would uncover secrets, awaken the power of the Phoenix Jade, and put them both in the crosshairs of those who wanted Lhu Hann dead.

CHAPTER 2: THE FIRST PLOT

That same night, the royal banquet was held in the grand hall. Music played, nobles danced, and everyone praised Lhu Hann for his victory.

Juipeng sat on his throne, smiling on the outside but burning with rage inside. Every cheer for Lhu Hann was like a knife stabbing his heart.

"Look at him," he whispered to Louying who stood beside him. "He is stealing all the attention. Even that girl Wie Chenn can't stop looking at him."

Louying followed his gaze and saw Wie Chenn talking to Lhu Hann. Jealousy burned in her chest. "She is nothing but a common noble girl. She thinks she can get close to the prince? I will make her regret it."

"First, we deal with Lhu Hann," Juipeng said. "General Bai San has prepared everything. Tomorrow, we will go hunting in the Black Forest. There… wild beasts will take care of my brother for good."

The next day, the hunting party set off. Lhu Hann was the best rider and shooter, so he went ahead of the group to chase a deer.

What he did not know was that Yein Chen had ordered the guards to close the gates behind him, trapping him inside the deep part of the forest. And waiting for him were not just wild beasts… but twenty trained assassins, sent by Juipeng.

"Kill him!" shouted the leader of the assassins. "No one leaves here alive!"

Lhu Hann drew his sword, his expression calm even when outnumbered. "So this is what my brother planned?"

He fought like a god. His sword moved so fast it looked like silver lightning. One by one, the assassins fell. But they were many, and they fought dirty. One of them managed to slash his arm, making blood drip on the ground.

Just as another assassin was about to strike him from behind, an arrow flew through the air and hit the assassin right in the chest.

Lhu Hann turned and saw Wie Chenn on a horse, holding a bow, her face full of worry and courage.

"Lhu Hann! Run!" she shouted.

Wie Chenn had followed them because she had heard Juipeng and Louying talking about the trap. She could not let him die.

Lhu Hann's eyes widened. "Chenn! What are you doing here?"

"I am not leaving you!" she said.

Together, they fought their way out of the forest, back to the main road. When they arrived, Juipeng and the others were waiting, pretending to be worried.

"Brother! What happened? Are you hurt?" Juipeng asked, acting concerned.

Lhu Hann looked at him, his eyes cold and sharp. He knew. He knew everything.

"I am fine, Brother," Lhu Hann said, his voice steady. "It seems… the forest is more dangerous than we thought. Or maybe… some people are."

Juipeng's smile froze. His plan failed. But he was not done. He will try again, and again, until Lhu Hann is dead.

CHAPTER 3: THE SECRET OF THE JADE

After the incident, Lhu Hann took Wie Chenn to his private villa to treat her wounds and keep her safe from Juipeng's anger.

As they sat together, Wie Chenn told him the truth about her family and the Phoenix Jade.

"My ancestors were the guardians of the jade," she said, pulling out an old scroll from her bag. "It is said that the jade will only appear to the one who is pure of heart and strong enough to protect the empire. And it will only give its power to someone who loves truly."

She looked at Lhu Hann, and blushed. "The prophecy says… the warrior and the guardian will find the jade together. And they will bring peace to the land."

Lhu Hann took the scroll and read it. "So that is why I felt drawn to you the moment I saw you. It was not just love. It was destiny."

CHAPTER 3: THE SECRET OF THE JADE

He held her hand. The moment their skin touched, a warm golden light burst from the small jade pendant Wie Chenn always wore around her neck — a fragment of the real Phoenix Jade, passed down through her family for generations.

The light wrapped around them like a soft blanket, and images flashed in their minds: a great phoenix rising from flames, a kingdom at peace, and two souls bound by love and duty.

"It chose us," Wie Chenn whispered, tears glistening in her eyes. "The jade recognizes you as its master… and me as its guardian."

Lhu Hann stared at the glowing light, then at her face. He pulled her closer, his voice low and sincere. "I do not care for power or the throne, Chenn. But if this jade can help me protect you, protect the people, and protect this empire from those who wish to harm it… then I will accept it."

He leaned in, his forehead resting against hers. "And I will protect you with my life. No one will ever hurt you again."

That night, they made a vow. They would uncover the truth behind the jade, stop Juipeng's evil plans, and bring justice to the land. But what they did not know was that someone was watching them from the shadows — one of Yein Chen's spies, who ran straight back to the palace to report everything.

CHAPTER 4: THE VILLAINS' WEB OF LIES

Back in the palace, Juipeng slammed his fist on the table when he heard the report. "So they are together? And they found out about the jade?!"

Louying stepped forward, a cruel smile playing on her red lips. "This is even better than we planned, Your Highness. We can kill two birds with one stone. Everyone knows Wie Chenn comes from a line of ancient mystics. We will accuse her of using black magic to seduce Prince Lhu Hann, and of stealing the sacred jade to overthrow the empire."

General Bai San, whose army controlled the capital, nodded grimly. "I will spread rumors across the city that Lhu Hann plans to rebel. The people already love him too much — they will believe he wants the throne for himself."

Yein Chen, the cold head of the Imperial Guards, spoke up for the first time. "I will forge treason letters and hide evidence in Lhu Hann's quarters. By sunrise, the Emperor will have no choice but to order his arrest."

Their plan worked faster than they expected. The next day, the whole capital was buzzing with lies. Emperor Tian Long, Lhu Hann and Juipeng's father, was heartbroken and furious. He loved Lhu Hann, but as a ruler, he could not ignore the accusations. He ordered Lhu Hann to return to the palace for interrogation, and placed Wie Chenn under house arrest, accusing her of bewitching the prince.

CHAPTER 5: FORBIDDEN LOVE AND ESCAPE

When Lhu Hann heard the order, he knew it was a death trap. If he stepped foot inside the palace, Juipeng would kill him before he could prove his innocence. But he could not leave Wie Chenn behind to suffer.

"I have to go," he said, gripping the hilt of his sword. "I will not let them tarnish your name."

"No!" Wie Chenn held him back, tears streaming down her face. "They want you dead! If you go now, you will never come back. Please, let us run first. Let us find the full Phoenix Jade, then we can reveal the truth to everyone."

Lhu Hann looked at her, his heart breaking. He had never run from a battle in his life, but for her, he was willing to be called a fugitive.

"Alright," he said softly. "We will go. But not as runaways. We will go as warriors who will take back what is rightfully ours."

That night, they snuck out of the villa, accompanied by a handful of loyal soldiers and Wie Chenn's best friend, Lin Mei. But as they reached the city gates, they were stopped.

Standing in front of them was Yein Chen, leading hundreds of armed guards, their swords drawn.

"Prince Lhu Hann," Yein Chen said, his voice void of emotion. "By order of the Crown Prince, you are under arrest for treason. Surrender, or die here."

Lhu Hann pushed Wie Chenn behind him, his own sword flashing as he drew it. "You dare point your blade at me? I spilled my blood to protect this empire! And you follow a man who is rotten to the core?"

"Orders are orders," Yein Chen signaled the guards to attack.

A fierce battle broke out. Lhu Hann fought like a god, his skills unmatched. But there were too many enemies. Just as Yein Chen aimed a deadly strike at Wie Chenn, an arrow flew through the air and knocked the sword right out of his hand.

Everyone looked up. Riding towards them was Empress Dowager Mei, the Emperor's mother and the most respected person in the empire, accompanied by her personal royal guards.

"Stop this madness at once!" she shouted, her voice booming with authority. "I will not let you kill the only good man left in this family!"

Even Juipeng dared not go against the Empress Dowager openly. Yein Chen had no choice but to retreat, but not before throwing a dark, threatening look at Lhu Hann

CHAPTER 6: THE JOURNEY TO THE PHOENIX TEMPLE (Continuation)

"Only those with a heart untainted by greed, and a bond stronger than death, may cross the path to the temple," Empress Dowager Mei said, pressing the worn parchment into Lhu Hann's palm. "The jade has waited centuries for its rightful master. Do not let it fall into evil hands."

She gave them more than just a map—she gave them a royal token of protection, and secret letters to loyal generals across the provinces who still respected Lhu Hann's name. "Go now. Before Juipeng realizes I helped you. I will hold him off here as long as I can."

With grateful bows, Lhu Hann and Wie Chenn left the capital under the cover of night, accompanied by Lin Mei and a small troop of trusted guards. Their journey was long, leading them through misty mountains, rushing rivers, and ancient forests untouched by man.

Along the way, the walls between prince and guardian, warrior and savior, crumbled away. They camped under starlit skies, shared meals by the fire, and spoke of their dreams and fears.

"I never wanted to be a prince," Lhu Hann admitted one night, watching Wie Chenn braid wild flowers into her hair. "All I ever wanted was to protect people, and to find someone who would love me for who I am—not for my title or my strength."

Wie Chenn turned to him, her eyes soft like moonlight. "I love you, Lhu Hann. Not because you are the strongest warrior, or a royal. I love you because you are kind, and brave, and you see good in everyone even when they try to hurt you."

Lhu Hann pulled her into his arms, and for the first time, he kissed her. It was gentle, warm, and full of promise—a love that felt as old as time, and as unbreakable as the mountains around them. Little did they know, this moment was being watched from the shadows.

Yein Chen had tracked them all the way from the capital, leading a squad of elite assassins. "Kill them," he ordered quietly. "Bring me the jade, and the heads of the traitors."

The attack came without warning. Swords clashed, arrows flew through the dark. Lhu Hann fought like a demon, his blade glowing faintly with the power of the jade fragment around Wie Chenn's neck. But Yein Chen was a skilled fighter, and he managed to slip past Lhu Hann's defense, aiming a deadly strike straight at Wie Chenn's heart.

"Chenn!" Lhu Hann shouted, throwing himself in front of her. The sword cut deep into his shoulder, blood staining his white robes.

Wie Chenn's eyes flashed with anger and fear. She clutched her pendant, and suddenly, a burst of golden fire exploded from it, throwing Yein Chen and his men back ten feet. The power was so strong it shook the ground.

"Retreat!" Yein Chen gasped, shocked and injured. He had never seen such magic. They fled into the woods, leaving Lhu Hann and Wie Chenn alone.

Wie Chenn immediately tore a strip of her dress to wrap his wound, tears falling down her face. "You stupid, brave man… why did you do that?"

"Because I promised to protect you," Lhu Hann smiled weakly, wiping her tears. "I would die a thousand times over before I let anyone hurt you."

CHAPTER 7: THE TRIALS OF THE PHOENIX

After days of traveling, they finally reached the hidden Temple of the Phoenix, built high on a cliff surrounded by clouds. The entrance was sealed by a giant stone door covered in ancient runes that no scholar had ever been able to decode.

"The prophecy says only three trials will open the way," Wie Chenn said, running her hand over the carvings. "Strength, Wisdom, and Love."

The first trial appeared before them: a giant stone warrior, animated by magic, twice the size of any man. "Only the strongest may pass," a voice boomed from the heavens.

Lhu Hann stepped forward, no weapon in hand. He did not fight with rage, but with skill and honor.

CHAPTER 7: THE TRIALS OF THE PHOENIX

He dodged every heavy blow with grace, parried the stone sword with his bare arms, and instead of destroying the guardian, he bowed low before it. "I fight not for glory or power, but to protect the ones I love, and the people who rely on me."

As the words left his mouth, the stone warrior's eyes glowed gold, and it stepped aside, bowing back. The first trial was passed.

The ground shifted, and the second trial appeared: a wall of endless text, riddles and prophecies written in an ancient language no scholar in the empire could decode. "Only the wise may understand the will of heaven," the voice echoed.

Wie Chenn stepped forward, her fingers brushing the carvings. The knowledge passed down from her ancestors, and her deep bond with the jade, made every word clear to her. She answered the riddles one by one, speaking of justice, mercy, and the true meaning of strength. The wall crumbled away to reveal a clear path.

Then came the third and hardest trial. The air turned cold, and illusions wrapped around them. Lhu Hann saw a vision of himself sitting on a golden throne, holding all the power in the world—but Wie Chenn was gone, faded like smoke. Wie Chenn saw a vision of Juipeng offering her endless wealth and the title of Empress if she abandoned Lhu Hann, promising her a life of luxury.

"Choose," the voice thundered from above. "Power or love? Ambition or bond?"

Without a single second of hesitation, Lhu Hann reached out and grabbed Wie Chenn's hand, ignoring the glowing throne that tempted him. "I choose her. Nothing else matters."

Wie Chenn squeezed his hand back, tears shining in her eyes. "I choose him, for this life and all the next."

The moment their hands tightened, the illusions vanished. The giant stone door in front of them rumbled open, revealing the holy inner sanctum.

In the center of the room, floating in mid-air, was the Phoenix Jade—the size of a human heart, glowing with warm golden light, shaped like a phoenix rising from flames. It pulsed with power so strong it made the whole temple shake.

As Lhu Hann stepped forward to take it, the jade flew gently into his palm, then merged perfectly with the small fragment around Wie Chenn's neck, becoming one whole artifact. A wave of energy washed over them, healing Lhu Hann's old wound, filling their bodies with strength, and binding their souls together as one.

"It is done," Wie Chenn whispered. "We are bound to the jade, and to each other, forever."

CHAPTER 8: THE EMPIRE IN CHAOS

While Lhu Hann and Wie Chenn claimed the power of the jade, the capital was drowning in evil.

Emperor Tian Long had fallen ill from the stress of lies and betrayal, bedridden and barely able to speak. Seizing the chance, Juipeng declared himself Acting Emperor. He imprisoned Wie Chenn's father, Lord Wei, put Empress Dowager Mei under house arrest, and ordered General Bai San to lead 50,000 elite soldiers to hunt down Lhu Hann—dead or alive.

"Bring me his head," Juipeng snarled, sitting on the throne that did not belong to him. "And drag that witch Wie Chenn here. I want her to watch as I burn everything she loves."

Louying stood beside him, wearing stolen royal robes, smiling cruelly. "Once they are gone, no one will stand in our way. We will rule this empire forever."

But they did not know the power of the Phoenix Jade was no longer a secret. News of the golden light seen blazing over the mountains spread like wildfire across every province. The people whispered that the true savior had come, that the gods themselves had blessed Lhu Hann.

Lhu Hann and Wie Chenn stopped hiding. They traveled from village to village, using the jade's power to heal the sick, feed the poor, and protect people from harm. Thousands of soldiers, farmers, and loyal nobles flocked to join them, choosing to follow the kind prince rather than the tyrant Juipeng.

One night, as they sat by their campfire looking at the army that had gathered for them, Lhu Hann pulled Wie Chenn close.

"I never wanted this war," he said softly. "But I cannot let Juipeng hurt more innocent people. I cannot let him take away everything and everyone I love."

"We will not fight alone," Wie Chenn said, touching the glowing jade against her chest. "The jade is with us. The people are with us. And I am with you, always."

CHAPTER 9: THE BATTLE OF THE CAPITAL

They marched back to the capital not as traitors, but as heroes. The city gates opened for them before they even drew their swords—tired of Juipeng's cruelty, the imperial guards turned against their evil masters and welcomed their true prince home.

But Juipeng refused to surrender. He gathered his remaining forces, led by General Bai San and Yein Chen, and made his last stand in the palace square.

"Kill them all!" Juipeng screamed from the palace steps, his face twisted in madness. "They are traitors! They want to steal the throne!"

"Liar!" Lhu Hann's voice boomed, amplified by the power of the jade, loud enough for every person present to hear clearly. "You tried to kill me, your own brother! You lied to the Emperor, you oppressed the people, you betrayed this entire empire!"

The battle erupted. Swords clashed and arrows flew, but Lhu Hann fought like a god descended from heaven. The Phoenix Jade glowed brightly on his chest, wrapping him in a shield of golden fire that no weapon could pierce.

He faced Yein Chen first—the cold guard commander who had tried to kill them so many times. "You served a wicked man," Lhu Hann said, his sword pointed steadily at him. "Surrender now, and face justice."

Yein Chen attacked wildly, but Lhu Hann disarmed him in one swift move, knocking him to the ground. The cruel commander was captured, his reign of terror finally over.

Next came General Bai San, the greedy warlord. He thought his numbers would win, but Lhu Hann's men fought for justice, and the citizens of the capital threw stones and poured boiling water on Juipeng's soldiers, cheering loudly for Lhu Hann. Bai San tried to flee, but was caught immediately by loyal guards.

Only Juipeng and Louying were left, trapped on the palace steps.

Louying fell to her knees, crying and begging for mercy. "Please spare me! I was forced! I never meant any harm!"

Wie Chenn looked at her coldly. "You used your words and beauty to manipulate and hurt innocent people. You will face the consequences of your choices."

Juipeng, seeing all hope was lost, pulled out a hidden dagger and ran towards Lhu Hann, mad with rage. "I will kill you! This throne is mine! Everything is mine!"

CHAPTER 9: THE BATTLE OF THE CAPITAL

Lhu Hann did not even draw his sword. He simply raised his hand, and the Phoenix Jade blazed with a warm but unyielding golden light. The force threw Juipeng back, making him stumble and fall hard on the marble steps, the dagger slipping from his grasp.

"You are my brother," Lhu Hann said, his voice heavy with sorrow, not anger. "We shared the same blood, the same parents, the same home. Why did you choose hatred over family? Why did you choose power over love?"

Juipeng screamed, pulling at his hair, his mind completely broken by envy and defeat. "It's your fault! You had everything! Strength, love, the people's hearts! I was supposed to be the heir! It's not fair!"

"Power gained through cruelty never lasts," Lhu Hann said softly. "And a throne won by betraying your own blood can never bring peace."

The guards stepped forward to arrest him, but just as they reached him, Lady Louying in a final act of madness grabbed a loose tile from the steps and smashed it against Juipeng's head, trying to shift all blame to save herself. "He made me do it! He forced me! Punish him, not me!"

But the crowd saw her true nature. Cheers turned to angry boos, and both were dragged away, to face judgment for all their crimes. The era of darkness was finally over.

CHAPTER 10: THE WORTHY RULER

Inside the palace, Emperor Tian Long was waiting, supported by Empress Dowager Mei. The truth had been revealed to him, and the weight of lies that had made him ill lifted away, restoring his strength and clarity.

He walked slowly to Lhu Hann, holding his son's face in his hands, tears streaming down his cheeks. "My child… I was blind. I failed to see the evil growing right under my roof, and I almost lost the greatest blessing this empire ever had."

Then he turned to Wie Chenn, bowing his head slightly in deep respect. "And you, my daughter. You stood by him when everyone turned away, you guided him, you loved him for who he is. You are not just the guardian of the jade… you are the heart of this land."

That same day, the Emperor made an official announcement that echoed across the entire empire:

"I have two sons. One was born first, but the other was born to lead. Power is not given by birth order alone… it is earned by kindness, courage, and the love you hold for your people."

"From today onwards, Lhu Hann shall be the new Emperor of Great Sheng!"

The crowd erupted in deafening cheers: "Long live Emperor Lhu Hann! Long live Empress Wie Chenn!"

Lhu Hann did not ascend the throne alone. He held out his hand to Wie Chenn, and together they walked up the steps, the Phoenix Jade glowing brightly between them, a symbol that their love and their rule were one.

CHAPTER 11: ETERNAL BOND

Their wedding was held a month later, the most magnificent ceremony the world had ever seen. The whole capital was draped in red silk and golden ribbons, streets filled with feasting, singing and dancing for seven days and seven nights. Every person, rich or poor, was invited to celebrate, for Lhu Hann believed that all people were equal.

As they stood before the ancient altar, Lhu Hann took Wie Chenn's hands, his eyes soft and full of love.

"I promise to protect this empire, to rule with justice, and to love you until the end of time. No darkness, no distance, no power will ever come between us again."

Wie Chenn smiled, tears of happiness rolling down her cheeks. "And I promise to stand by your side, as your partner, your guardian, and your love, in this life and all the next."

At that moment, the Phoenix Jade rose into the air, bursting into thousands of golden sparks that rained down gently on everyone, blessing the land with peace, health and prosperity for generations to come.

Fate of the Villains
