The Picnic That Turned Intu a Nightmare
It was the middle of summer. The sun burned fiercely in the sky, and the air felt heavy and dry. Schools had just closed for the long summer vacation, and children everywhere were celebrating their freedom.
Among them were three best friends — Jim, Jolly, and Rick.
They were around 12 to 14 years old, all studying in Class 6. The three boys were known in their neighborhood for their adventurous nature. Sitting one afternoon under a mango tree near their homes, Rick suddenly said,
"Why don't we go for a picnic somewhere far away?"
Jim's eyes sparkled with excitement.
"That's a great idea!"
Jolly, who loved adventure even more than the other two, quickly agreed.
"But we shouldn't tell anyone at home," he whispered with a mischievous smile.
And just like that, the plan was made.
The Secret Journey
Early the next morning, without telling their parents, the three boys quietly left their houses.
Each of them carried a small backpack.
Jim brought a tent and some packets of chips.
Jolly carried a small hatchet, a torch, and a bottle of water.
Rick packed some food, a strong rope, and a sharp knife.
They decided to walk toward a small mountain path that led deep into a forest near their town.
At first, the journey felt exciting.
Birds were singing, the warm wind moved the leaves, and the forest smelled fresh and mysterious.
They walked and walked.
Morning slowly turned into afternoon.
Afternoon turned into evening.
The forest grew thicker. The sunlight barely reached the ground anymore.
Strange shadows stretched between the tall trees.
But the boys kept walking, laughing and joking, unaware of how deep they had gone.
Deep Inside the Forest
By the time the sky turned orange and the sun began to disappear, they had reached a very deep part of the forest.
Rick wiped the sweat from his forehead and said,
"Guys… I'm really hungry. Let's stop here for a while and eat something."
Jim and Jolly agreed immediately.
The place was surrounded by tall trees and thick bushes. It felt quiet… almost too quiet.
Jim quickly took out the tent from his bag and set it up carefully.
Rick opened his bag and brought out the food.
The boys sat together on the forest floor, eating and laughing.
After the long walk, their bodies felt heavy with exhaustion.
Soon their eyes began to close.
Within minutes, all three of them were fast asleep.
They Were Not Alone
Night slowly covered the forest.
The darkness inside the jungle was far deeper than the darkness in the city.
The wind stopped.
The forest became silent.
But the boys did not know something terrifying…
They were not alone in that forest.
Something… or someone… was watching them from the shadows.
The Sound in the Dark
Suddenly—
CRACK.
A strange sound echoed through the trees.
Rick's eyes snapped open.
He sat up quickly, his heart pounding in his chest.
"What was that…?"
He grabbed Jolly's bag and took out the torch.
His hands were shaking slightly as he turned it on.
A thin beam of light cut through the darkness.
Rick slowly looked around.
Left…
Right…
Behind the trees…
But he saw nothing.
Still, the feeling that someone was watching them refused to go away.
Fear slowly crept into his mind.
Rick hurriedly woke up Jim and Jolly.
"Guys… wake up… I heard something."
The three boys quickly crawled inside the tent and zipped it tightly.
Outside, the forest remained silent.
But every few minutes…
They heard strange noises.
Leaves moving.
Branches cracking.
Something walking slowly around their tent.
The boys didn't sleep the whole night.
They sat quietly, holding their breath, staring at the tent walls as shadows moved outside.
Morning Comes… But Fear Remains
At last, the first rays of sunlight entered the forest.
Birds started chirping again.
The boys slowly opened the tent and stepped outside.
Their faces looked tired and pale.
Rick rubbed his stomach.
"I'm starving…"
They began searching around the forest, hoping to find some fruits or berries.
The morning light revealed something strange.
Near a tall tree, Rick suddenly stopped.
"Guys… look at that."
Jim and Jolly walked closer.
There, tangled in thick vines and leaves, was a bird trapped in the branches of the tree.
It was struggling desperately.
Its wings were caught tightly in the vines.
But something about that bird looked strange…
Its feathers were dark.
Almost too dark.
And its eyes…
Its eyes looked unnaturally bright.
Something Is Wrong
Rick stepped forward to help the bird.
"Poor thing… it's stuck."
He took out the knife from his bag.
But the moment he touched the vines—
The bird suddenly stopped struggling.
Its head slowly turned.
And it stared directly at Rick.
The forest became silent again.
Even the wind stopped.
The bird opened its beak.
But instead of a normal chirping sound…
It made a deep, disturbing noise.
Almost like…
A human whisper.
Rick froze.
Jolly stepped back slowly.
"Guys… I don't think this is a normal bird…"
Suddenly the vines began to move on their own.
The branches shook violently.
And from deeper inside the forest…
A long, terrifying howl echoed through the trees.
Something was coming.
Something that had been watching them since the night before.
The three boys looked at each other in fear.
Rick whispered,
"Run."
And within seconds—
They started running through the forest as fast as they could…
But deep inside their hearts, they knew something horrifying.
The forest wasn't going to let them leave so easily.
Because now…
They had entered its territory.
And whatever lived there…
had finally noticed them.
The Picnic That Turned Into a Nightmare -Part 2
The three boys ran as fast as they could.
Branches scratched their arms and legs as they pushed through the thick forest. Dry leaves crunched loudly under their feet.
Rick was leading the way.
"Don't stop! Just keep running!" he shouted.
Behind them, something moved between the trees.
They could hear it.
Not clearly… but enough to know they were not alone.
Heavy footsteps.
Slow.
Deliberate.
Watching them.
Jim's breathing became heavy.
"I… I can't run anymore…"
But Rick shook his head.
"We can't stop here!"
Suddenly the ground beneath Jolly's feet disappeared.
"AAAH!"
He slipped and rolled down a small slope.
Jim and Rick quickly stopped and rushed toward him.
Jolly was lying on the ground, groaning in pain.
"My leg… I think I twisted it."
Rick helped him sit up. Luckily, it was not broken.
But now the forest around them felt even darker.
The tall trees blocked most of the sunlight.
And the strange feeling of being watched returned again.
The Old Cabin
While helping Jolly walk slowly, Jim suddenly pointed ahead.
"Look!"
Through the trees, they saw something unexpected.
A small wooden cabin.
It looked very old.
The walls were covered with moss and vines.
One of the windows was broken, and the wooden door hung slightly open.
Rick whispered,
"Maybe someone lives there… maybe they can help us."
The boys slowly approached the cabin.
The forest around it was strangely quiet.
Even the birds had stopped singing.
Rick pushed the door gently.
CREEEEAK…
The door opened with a long, eerie sound.
Inside, the cabin smelled old and damp.
Dust covered everything.
Broken furniture lay scattered across the floor.
It looked like nobody had lived there for many years.
Jolly sat down on an old chair to rest his leg.
Jim walked toward a table near the wall.
There were some very old papers and a dirty notebook lying there.
"Guys… come look at this."
Rick and Jolly walked closer.
Jim carefully opened the notebook.
The pages were yellow and fragile.
Someone had written strange notes in it.
Rick read one line aloud.
"This forest is cursed. Something lives here… something that watches."
The boys exchanged nervous glances.
Rick flipped another page.
"The birds are not normal. They are its eyes."
Suddenly Jim remembered the strange bird trapped in the tree.
His stomach tightened.
The Truth About the Forest
Rick continued reading.
"Years ago, a creature came from deep inside the mountain cave. Nobody knows what it is. But it hunts anyone who enters the forest."
"At night, it sends the birds to watch."
"If you hear whispers in the forest… run."
A cold chill ran down their spines.
Before anyone could speak—
They heard something outside.
CRUNCH.
Footsteps.
Slow footsteps.
Right outside the cabin.
The boys froze.
The footsteps stopped near the door.
For a few seconds… everything was silent.
Then—
SCRATCH… SCRATCH…
Something was scratching the wooden door.
Jolly whispered with fear,
"Please tell me that's just an animal…"
But nobody answered.
Rick slowly turned off the torch they had placed on the table.
The cabin became dim and quiet.
Suddenly the door shook violently.
BANG!
Jim jumped in fear.
Whatever was outside was trying to get in.
Rick quickly whispered,
"There must be another exit."
They searched the cabin quickly.
Behind an old cupboard, Jim found a small back door.
Rick carefully opened it.
Outside was a narrow path leading deeper into the forest.
"We don't have a choice," Rick said.
"Let's go."
The Creature Appears
The boys stepped outside quietly.
But the moment they started moving—
The front door of the cabin burst open.
CRASH!
Something huge stepped inside.
Through the broken window, they saw it.
And the sight froze their blood.
It was tall.
At least seven feet high.
Its body looked thin and twisted.
Long arms.
Sharp claws.
And its eyes glowed faintly in the darkness.
It sniffed the air like a hunting animal.
Rick whispered,
"Don't make a sound…"
But suddenly a dry branch snapped under Jim's foot.
CRACK.
The creature's head turned instantly toward the back door.
Its glowing eyes locked onto them.
And then—
It screamed.
A horrifying, inhuman scream that echoed through the forest.
"RUN!!"
The boys ran again, deeper into the jungle.
Behind them, the creature crashed through trees and bushes, chasing them with terrifying speed.
The Escape
Rick suddenly saw something ahead.
Light.
Sunlight.
"The forest edge!" he shouted.
They ran faster than they ever had before.
The creature was getting closer.
They could hear its claws hitting the ground.
Ten meters…
Five meters…
Finally the boys burst out of the forest and onto an open hillside.
The creature stopped at the edge of the trees.
It stood there, watching them.
It did not step into the sunlight.
After a few seconds…
It slowly disappeared back into the dark forest.
Never Again
The boys collapsed on the grass, breathing heavily.
None of them spoke for a long time.
Finally Jim said quietly,
"We should never come back here again."
Rick nodded.
And Jolly whispered,
"Next time… let's just go to a normal picnic park."
They slowly began walking back toward their town.
But deep inside the forest…
Something was still watching them.
And somewhere in the trees…
A dark bird opened its glowing eyes.
The Picnic That Turned Into A Nightmare - Part 3
The Secret of the Mountain
After escaping the forest that day, the three boys — Jim, Jolly, and Rick — promised themselves they would never return to that place again.
For several weeks, none of them talked about what they had seen.
But the memory of the creature never left their minds.
Sometimes at night, Rick would wake up suddenly, remembering those glowing eyes staring at them from the darkness.
And Jim could never forget the strange words written in the old notebook inside the cabin.
"The birds are its eyes."
Something about the forest was still a mystery.
And that mystery slowly began pulling them back.
A Strange Discovery
One afternoon, almost a month later, Jim ran toward Rick's house, breathing heavily.
"You need to see this!"
Rick and Jolly followed him to the old abandoned cabin they had discovered earlier.
The door was broken completely now.
Inside, the same dusty notebook was still lying on the table.
But Jim had discovered something new.
Inside the last few pages of the notebook was a hand-drawn map.
It showed the forest.
And at the center of the map… there was a drawing of the small mountain.
Beside it, someone had written in shaky handwriting:
"The creature came from the cave inside the mountain."
Rick's eyes widened.
"A cave… inside the mountain?"
Jolly swallowed nervously.
"You mean the thing lives there?"
Jim nodded slowly.
"If we want to understand what that thing really is… we need to find that cave."
The three boys looked at each other.
They all knew it was dangerous.
But curiosity was stronger than fear.
And so, for the second time…
They decided to return to the forest.
The Hidden Cave
Early the next morning, they packed their bags again.
This time they were more prepared.
They brought:
Extra food
Strong ropes
Two torches
And Rick's sharp knife
The journey back into the forest felt different this time.
Every sound made them nervous.
Every shadow felt alive.
After walking for hours, they finally reached the foot of the mountain shown in the map.
Thick bushes covered most of the rocky surface.
At first they saw nothing unusual.
But then Jolly pushed aside a curtain of vines.
Behind it was a dark opening in the rock.
A cave.
Cold air slowly flowed out from inside.
Rick turned on the torch.
The light disappeared quickly into the darkness.
Jim whispered,
"This must be it."
Slowly, the boys stepped inside.
Inside the Mountain
The cave was silent and damp.
Water dripped slowly from the ceiling.
Their footsteps echoed through the narrow tunnel.
After walking deeper inside, they noticed something strange on the walls.
Old symbols carved into the stone.
Some looked like warning signs.
Others looked like drawings of strange creatures.
Then they reached a large chamber inside the cave.
And there…
They found something shocking.
Bones.
Animal bones.
And some bones that looked disturbingly… human.
The boys felt cold fear spreading through their bodies.
But the biggest shock was still waiting.
At the center of the cave stood an ancient stone structure, almost like a broken altar.
And behind it…
They saw the creature.
The Truth About the Creature
The creature slowly turned toward them.
But this time it did not attack.
It simply stared.
Its glowing eyes looked tired… almost sad.
Rick noticed something strange.
Chains.
Old, rusty chains were attached to the creature's legs.
Jim carefully opened the notebook again and read another hidden page.
"The creature was once a man."
The boys looked at the monster in disbelief.
"Years ago, a scientist came to study strange minerals inside the mountain cave."
"Something went wrong with his experiments."
"The minerals changed his body… slowly turning him into a creature."
"The villagers tried to trap him inside the cave so he could not escape."
The boys looked at the creature again.
Now it didn't look like a monster.
It looked like a trapped being, forced to live in darkness for years.
Rick whispered softly,
"It's not evil… it's just alone."
Suddenly the creature let out a low, painful sound.
The chains were cutting into its legs.
Rick slowly stepped forward.
Jim whispered,
"Rick… what are you doing?"
Rick took out his knife.
And with careful movements…
He cut the old rusty chains.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then the creature slowly stood up.
It looked at the boys one last time.
And quietly walked deeper into the cave… disappearing into the darkness forever.
The Return
The boys walked back out of the cave in silence.
The forest no longer felt as frightening as before.
The birds were singing again.
Sunlight passed through the leaves peacefully.
Rick smiled slightly.
"Maybe the forest will finally be quiet now."
Jolly laughed nervously.
"Next time we plan a picnic… we should just go to a park."
Jim nodded.
"Definitely."
The three boys walked back toward their town together.
But deep inside the mountain…
Something had finally found freedom after many years.
And somewhere high above the forest…
A dark bird flew across the sky…
As if watching over the forest one last time.
