Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Rain

Intro: "Hey, my name is Hatchi and I am 17 years old. The sun is very bright, isn't it?"

Once a time there was a man named Hozuki Matsumoto.

He was used to fight in wars but soon he retired after the Battle of Hoken during the Sengoku period in Japan.

He married a woman and lived in a countryside village near Kyoto.

He had five children where they were facing poverty due to retirement at a young age.

Hozuki used to collect wood, river stones, and other natural stuff to sell in the big town of Kyoto.

He taught his eldest son the way of the sword, named Hatchi Matsumoto.

When Hatchi was twelve, his father fell ill and passed away a year after.

His father, before passing away, gave him his greatest lesson.

Hozuki, while practicing and teaching his son sword fighting with a wooden sword:

(Smacked and hatchi's sword fell off)

"Do you know, Hatchi... in this world, the strongest weapon is the power of love and determination."

(Sat down with hatchi)

"Use them and never give up Hatchi... use my lessons and your sword skills to protect your mother and siblings."

(a moment of pause)

(Looking into the sky) "Heavens is calling me."

Imagery:

The Look from the old father's eyes shifted to the Lone child who's laying down under an old tree... He's shocked and his eyes is filled with disappointment... because he wasn't being able to protect his family...

Two years passed after his father's death. Hatchi lost his mother the following year and both of his sisters in the next 3 months, and painfully both of his remaining siblings recently.

Hatchi , (Laying under the tree, all alone... besides him is his sibling's dead body...):

(Rain starts, His tears Starts bleeding in with the Droplets)

(He looks at the heavens)

"Why... why, why, why? Why me only! Why it should only be me to live?"

(His wet eyes being red, He sobbed)

"Why didn't you go to where everyone left? Only if..."

Looking at heavens with teary eyes, Hatchi remembered his father's words: "Never give up Hatchi."

Hatchi chose to go and shift completely to Kyoto because of better arrangements than the village.

He left for Kyoto that night.
