Chapter 38: Fractured Heavens and Rising Sins

Heaven – The Golden Spire

Lucifer Morningstar staggered back from the clash, hellfire flickering across his burned wings. Michael's holy blade had grazed him, but the wound was already closing.

"You're not here for revenge," Michael growled, wings flaring with radiant light. "You're here for the Crown. My Crown."

A dark smile spread across Lucifer's face. "Smart as always, brother. The Crown of Heaven… the key to ending this farce once and for all. With it, I can reshape everything."

Michael's eyes widened in horror. He raised his blade. "I will not let you—"

Before he could finish, Lucifer unleashed a burst of hellfire and vanished through a rift, laughing maniacally.

"Alert the others!" Michael roared to the heavenly host. "Sakiel! Virtue of Faith! The Morningstar has returned, and he seeks the Crown!"

Sakiel's Pursuit

Sakiel, the Virtue of Faith, descended like a comet of golden light. His power was absolute: any being filled with doubt, loss of faith, or sin would crumble into dust and blood at his touch.

"Lucifer!" he shouted, voice booming across the skies. "Your corruption ends today!"

Mid-air, a grotesque figure intercepted him — Gammon, the Sin of Doubt. The creature's form twisted with shadowy illusions, whispering fears into Sakiel's mind.

"Your faith is a lie," Gammon hissed. "Even now, you doubt your brothers."

Sakiel roared and swung his blade, but Gammon's influence slowed him just enough for Lucifer to escape into the gates of Hell.

Hell – Lucifer's Chamber

Lucifer burst into his chamber, clutching a single white feather from Michael's wing. He slammed it into a ritual circle, dark energy surging.

"Come on… activate!" he snarled.

The chamber shook violently. Michael crashed through the ceiling like a falling star, holy sword raised.

"You will not have it!" Michael bellowed.

The two brothers collided again. Holy light and hellfire tore at the fabric of reality itself. Shockwaves rippled across dimensions. In the mortal world, the moon turned an eerie, pure white.

Willowbrook – Moses' Home

Moses was relaxing at home when the door exploded inward. Mammon, the Sin of Greed, stepped through with a wicked grin, flanked by shadowy minions.

"Perfect timing," Mammon laughed. "The boy who carries potential. You, Kyle, and Gwen will make excellent bargaining chips."

Moses summoned his power and charged, but Mammon was faster. A brutal strike to the head knocked Moses unconscious. Kyle and Gwen screamed as they were taken.

Guardians of Destiny Society HQ, Zimbabwe

Wyatt Freeman led Lisa (Sin of Betrayal) toward the gates, his face twisted with rage and pain.

"Come on," he muttered. "They'll listen."

Bane Mugabe's techno rats swarmed out. "Hellish creature detected!"

The battle erupted. Lisa's sister Sama, the Virtue of Loyalty, appeared in a flash.

"Lisa! Traitor!" Sama shouted, blades drawn. "Your betrayal ends here!"

Koa transformed with a roar. "Tiger Beast Spirit!" He leap-kicked Sama into a wall with bone-crushing force. Lisa tried to flee, but Koa shifted again — Komodo Dragon Spirit — and chased her down.

Cole grabbed the screaming Wyatt and dragged him into a secure chamber. "Why are you doing this, man? Talk to me!"

Wyatt's voice suddenly changed, becoming deeper and cruel. "Because I'm not Wyatt anymore."

Cole's eyes widened. "Who the hell are you?"

"I am R. Dodger," the voice replied. "The Tyrant from Ecuador. The one who gave you your powers through Project Glimmerfall."

Cole kicked Wyatt's body in fury. "You made me kill my own mother!"

R. Dodger laughed through Wyatt's mouth. "Find my older brother's deceased body and I'll leave this vessel. Lucifer isn't just causing chaos. He's merging the Kadhumu Ahatimer — he wants to mix all realms together. He will—"

Wyatt screamed in agony and collapsed. Cole and Koa exchanged grim looks.

Willowbrook Streets – Kevin

Kevin froze as the Headless Dullahan appeared on its black steed, holding its grinning head.

"You're supposed to be dead!" Kevin shouted, Rampager energy flaring.

The Dullahan's head laughed. "I am not here to kill you, Kevin. Mortalis, God of the Dead, sent me with a warning. New Guardians will arrive in Willowbrook — young Wrathborn teenagers like you. Some shards never awakened until trauma strikes."

Garcia arrived, breathing hard. "What the hell is going on?"

The Dullahan vanished into shadows, leaving Kevin and Garcia stunned.

Gold Reef City – Total Darkness

The entire city plunged into pure darkness. Peter, Ofentse, and Rona prepared for the worst as screams filled the air. Blinkstrike, Meteor Boy, Cryogenesis, and Jayse the Caveman were all dragged screaming into portals to Hell.

Other Conflicts

Ri Kwon Jae tracked a hellish scent and found a mysterious necklace — only to be ambushed by Dracula Bloodnort and Drako the Man-Bat.

In a warehouse, Rad, Lazerbeam, and Rafeal fought giant roots and the monster Toughhide, while Asmodeus (Sin of Adultery) commanded a mysterious girl with yellow magic.

In an apartment, Obito Okafor and Miguel Rinnohota held Bangu captive, laughing about Kevin and Wyatt's eventual arrival.

In Uruguay

Kent and Steve endured torture from Beelzebub, defiantly refusing to snitch — until the monstrous Tony Yilmaz (an 8-foot chainsaw creature) appeared.

Realm of Mysteria – Peak Intensity

The shimmering crystal forests hummed with ancient power. Nathan Moya stood in the training circle, sweat dripping down his face as silver-blue illusion energy swirled around him. Beside him, Selene Arkwright watched with sharp eyes while Grug, Eddie Gigglesworth, the Labyrinth Lord, and Paradonitious sparred nearby. The Six Rings of Eldoria pulsed softly on a floating pedestal — the first ring already secured and glowing with inner light.

"Focus, Nathan," Selene warned. "The rings are reacting to your emotions. One wrong move and the realm itself could reject you."

Nathan nodded, weaving complex illusions laced with lunar threads and fate-cutting edges. "I know. The Garden Behind the Fence is stirring. The White-Blue Heart Pillar is calling. I can feel it pulling at me."

Eddie cracked a grin mid-spar, turning a training golem into a ridiculous slapstick explosion with his chaotic power. "Hey, at least if we die, we'll go out laughing! Right, Grug?"

Grug smashed another golem with a booming laugh. "Grug like funny explosions!"

The Labyrinth Lord shifted the very maze around them, testing Nathan's adaptability. Paradonitious clashed swords with Nathan in a flurry of sparks.

"Feel the weight of the realms, Illusionist," Paradonitious said solemnly. "You have sacrificed much already. But the path ahead will demand even more."

Nathan roared and unleashed a silver-blue explosion that lit up the nebulae-like sky. Mysteria itself seemed to cheer for a moment.

Then the sky tore.

A rift of pure void ripped open above them. From the darkness emerged Vespera, the Void's Shadow — a towering, amorphous entity of writhing shadows and empty eyes, one of the ancient enforcers tied to the Kadhumu Ahatimer.

Vespera's voice echoed like a thousand whispering voids. "The rings do not belong to mortals. Lucifer's merging has begun… and the balance must be corrected."

Nathan's eyes widened. "What the hell are you?!"

Selene stepped forward, blade drawn. "Vespera! Guardian of the Void — you only appear when the realms are at risk of collapsing into one another. Lucifer is forcing the merge, isn't he?"

Vespera's form shifted, shadows lengthening. "Correct, child of light. He seeks to overwrite everything. The Six Rings are keys and anchors. Hand them over… or be erased."

Nathan clenched his fists, illusions flaring brighter. "Like hell we will! If Lucifer wants chaos, he'll have to go through us first!"

Vespera laughed — a sound like reality fracturing. "Brave words from a boy playing with fragments of power."

The entity lunged. Nathan met it head-on, their clash sending shockwaves through the crystal forest. Selene, Grug, Eddie, the Labyrinth Lord, and Paradonitious charged in to support him as the battle for the rings intensified.
