Chapter 43 - ''The Breaking Of Chains''{43}

Chapter 43: The Breaking of Chains

The white moon no longer watched from a distance.

It pressed against the world like a hand against glass, and every realm felt the pressure.

Hell – Domain of Unforgiveness

Peter Shotstock stood alone on the black stone plain, breathing hard, the empty shotgun hanging from one hand like a dead weight. The shadows of his past failures had gone quiet. In their place rose a towering figure wrapped in chains of regret and crowned with broken thorns.

Satan, Ruler of Unforgiveness, looked down at him with eyes that held every apology never spoken.

"You carry so many," the voice said, almost kind. "Lay them down. I will keep them for you."

Peter spat blood onto the stone. "I've been keeping them myself."

He dropped the shotgun.

From inside his jacket he pulled a short, jagged blade — the last thing his old partner had ever given him. Without a word he charged.

Satan met him with a wave of crushing despair that tried to force every failure back into Peter's mind at once. Peter kept running through it. When he reached the towering figure he drove the blade straight into the center of the chest, straight into the heart of Unforgiveness.

Satan's body arched. The chains across the sky shattered one by one. The Domain convulsed.

Peter did not twist the blade. He did not finish the kill.

He simply left it there, buried to the hilt, and stepped back.

Satan looked down at the weapon in his own heart, then at Peter, and for the first time something like respect crossed that ancient face.

"You… refused to become me," Satan said.

The Domain began to collapse around them.

Hell – Domain of Greed

Meteor Boy and Cryogenesis stood on a trembling mountain of gold that no longer felt endless.

Mammon rose from the treasure like a king made of coins and hunger, laughing as constructs of wealth formed around him.

"You still refuse my gifts?" Mammon roared.

Cryogenesis answered by dropping the temperature so hard the entire mountain cracked. Gold froze solid in mid-air. Meteor Boy launched himself skyward on a pillar of flame, then came down with everything he had left.

"Meteor Fist!"

The frozen peak exploded outward as the fist connected with Mammon's chest. Ice and fire met in a single catastrophic impact. Mammon's body shattered into a rain of worthless, dull metal that scattered across the breaking Domain.

The laughter finally stopped.

Hell – Domain of Sloth

Blinkstrike could barely move. The air itself felt like wet sand.

Beelzebub drifted toward them on a throne of rotting mattresses, eyes half-lidded, voice slow and heavy. "Rest. You have earned it."

Jayse the Caveman dropped to one knee, club trembling in his grip. Then something inside him snapped.

A deep, primal roar tore out of his throat. Bone shifted. Muscle expanded. Dark, rocky plates erupted across his skin. In seconds the tired warrior was gone, replaced by the towering Cave Beast — an ancient, rage-fueled form of pure survival instinct.

The Cave Beast charged.

Beelzebub's eyes widened for the first time in centuries. The throne shattered under the impact. The two crashed across the floating island, smashing beds and clocks into dust. Blinkstrike forced one final teleport and drove a blade into Beelzebub's side at the exact moment the Cave Beast's fist came down.

Beelzebub screamed — a sound of pure offended laziness — and tore open a black portal beneath himself.

"This… is not over," he hissed, and vanished before the final blow could land.

The Domain of Sloth began to fall apart.

Hell – Domain of Wrath

The canyon was a furnace of living rage.

Infernal, the Sin of Wrath itself, stood wreathed in Wrathfire — black-red flames that burned emotion instead of flesh. Every time Rona or Ofentse landed a blow, the fire tried to force their own buried anger to the surface.

Ofentse's translation power screamed under the pressure. Rona's perfect form began to crack as fury tried to rewrite his discipline.

They barely stayed standing.

Then Rona made a choice. He stopped resisting the Wrathfire and instead guided it — channeling the rage into a single, controlled strike. Ofentse did the same, translating the pure fury into a focused pulse that turned Infernal's own power against him.

Together they drove the Wrathfire back into its source.

Infernal's body ignited from within. The canyon walls collapsed as the Sin of Wrath burned itself out in a final, furious scream.

Rona and Ofentse fell to their knees, barely alive, but victorious.

Willowbrook High School – Morning

Kevin and Wyatt walked side by side down the cracked sidewalk, the white-blue glow under Kevin's skin still faintly visible. Neither of them spoke. The events of the previous days sat between them like a third person.

Then they saw him.

Bangu stood at the edge of the school grounds, bruised, limping, but alive. The moment he spotted them his face cracked into something raw.

"I missed you two," he said, voice rough.

Kevin and Wyatt didn't hesitate. They ran to him.

While the three of them stood together, a thick file slipped from Bangu's jacket. Kevin picked it up. The label read:

Lucifer Jr. — The Black Angel

All three of them stared at the photograph of the dark-winged young man.

Meanwhile, across the campus, Lupin Stillfang (now back in human form) and Ri Kwon Jae arrived at the school gates. Lupin's nose twitched. His eyes narrowed.

"I smell him," Lupin growled. "R. Dodger. He's still here."

Willowbrook High – Courtyard

Lancelot Ito leaned against a railing, looking as bored as ever. Ignis Lau stood a few feet away, flames faintly dancing between his fingers out of habit.

They both watched the other students carefully.

Lancelot spoke first, voice flat. "Half of them are sleeping."

Ignis frowned. "What?"

"Supernaturals who haven't awakened yet," Lancelot said. "I can feel the water in their blood reacting to the moon. There are more of us here than anyone realizes."

Ignis's expression hardened. "Then this school is about to become a battlefield."

Guardians of Destiny Society – Main Hall

Cohen Washington, Devonte, Damon, Tiago, Khaos Hyde, and Poison arrived together. The atmosphere inside the Society was tense and electric.

New faces were already waiting.

Godfrey Garowney from Libya — a young inquisitor with sharp eyes and a calm, dangerous presence — stood near the entrance. Daniel Ywong from East Korea sat at a table, mind clearly racing through a dozen calculations at once. Huxley Vane from Grenada leaned against a pillar, nostrils flaring as he catalogued every scent in the room.

Cohen nodded to them. "You're all here. Good. The war just escalated."

Realm of Mysteria

The crystal forests were quieter now.

Vespera stood beside a young woman with silver hair and soft glowing eyes — Lia Moonwhisperer. Nathan watched them both carefully.

"She's been under my care," Vespera said. "Her power is Whisper. One word from her, and almost anyone will obey."

Lia looked between them, nervous but steady.

Nathan and Vespera locked eyes for a long moment. Finally Nathan spoke.

"We need a temporary agreement. The realms are tearing. If we don't find the tear and seal it, everything collapses."

Vespera inclined her head. "Then we travel together. For now."

The remaining defenders of Mysteria prepared to move.

Elsewhere – Bane and Loki

In a quiet room at the Guardians' headquarters, Bane Mugabe and Loki Nyden stood facing each other.

"We can't keep carrying this alone," Bane said.

Loki's current face flickered. "There's someone who might understand. Araya."

Bane nodded once. "Then we reach out."

Egypt – Valley of the Forgotten Kings

Zach and Derek barely had time to react.

Pharaoh Salah attacked without warning. Sandstorms erupted around them with killing force, blades of hardened sand slicing through the air.

Then help arrived.

Gideon the Phantom flickered into existence, already moving through the storm like a ghost. Ryan's body swelled with raw anger, transforming into a larger, furious form. Sylvana the Dryad called vines and roots from the desert floor itself. Isaac unleashed blinding white fire that cut through the sand.

And from the edge of the storm came a new figure — Jonathan Smith from Australia. His body shifted fluidly into insectoid forms: first a swarm of wasps, then a massive armored beetle, then something with bladed limbs. The Insectoid power let him adapt instantly.

Together they pushed Pharaoh Salah back.

Madagascar – The Search for the Fifth Ring

Lucifer stood on a high cliff overlooking dense jungle, dark wings half-spread. The Fifth Ring was close. He could feel it.

Then glass exploded around him.

Innocent Rakotomala — Nathan Moya's half-brother — stepped out of the shattered air, shards of glass orbiting him like living weapons.

"You're not taking anything from this land," Innocent said coldly.

Lucifer's eyes narrowed. "I wasn't asking."

Glass and dark power collided in a violent storm above the jungle canopy.

Willowbrook High – Library

Lupin Stillfang moved through the quiet shelves like a shadow. His nose led him to a corner table.

A teenage boy with pointed ears and silver-white hair sat reading, trying to look ordinary. Vladimir Solokov — a Russian elf who had somehow stayed hidden until now — looked up in alarm.

Lupin stared at him for a long moment.

"You're not human," Lupin said simply.

Vladimir's hand tightened on the book.

Outside the School

Kevin, Wyatt, and Bangu stood together under the white moon, the file on Lucifer Jr. open between them.

New students moved across the courtyard in the distance — Zayelle and her older brother Blessing walking side by side, Zane (Nathan's younger brother) lagging behind them with his hands in his pockets, still looking like a normal teenager for now.

Everything was changing at once.

Across every realm, every battlefield, every quiet corner of the world, the chains that had held the war in separate pieces finally broke.

The real convergence had begun.
