" We pray to our gods that our lives always stay peaceful like this, and just because of them we are living a great life in this world, which is very beautiful and full of kindness. "
One old priest said fondly, his eyes closed.
All the other people bowed their heads respectfully.
" We wish to live like this for our entire lives. All things are because of you. "
All the people prayed together before opening their eyes and leaving.
One young priest smiled.
" Our gods are always very kind to us, " he said, his tone full of empathy.
The oldest priest smiled weakly.
" That's right. But there are also some people who wear the mask of kindness, " the man said calmly.
The younger priest tilted his head.
" I didn't understand, " he asked confusedly.
Suddenly, a tall boy entered, wearing a black hanfu. His long black hair shone under the light that gently kissed it, and there was a calm smile on his face.
The oldest priest turned to him.
" Who are you? " the priest asked fondly.
The boy smiled calmly while looking into the priest's eyes.
" My name is Zheng Dao, and I came here to understand and learn about the gods, " Zheng said calmly.
The younger priest smiled.
" Do you want to become a priest? " he asked curiously.
Zheng looked at him with a small smile.
" If that helps me understand and learn about the gods, " Zheng said, his tone full of peace.
The oldest priest looked up at him.
" Every religion has its own duties according to the gods. They can't interfere in each other's work. That's the rule of divinity, " the old priest said calmly.
Zheng smiled.
" The Creator divided his creation on the basis of their work toward him, " Zheng said calmly.
The old priest looked into his eyes.
" Every man should be thankful to the gods for his life. Our Creator is the strongest, and he knows what is best for us. That's why we are divided, but we are connected by our work. Even we priests exist to remind people that there is still a god who watches over them to ensure their peace and happiness, " the priest said serenely.
Zheng nodded.
" Where do the gods live? " Zheng asked sincerely.
The priest smiled.
" Gods live in their divine realm, which is untouched by darkness and false people, " the priest said calmly.
Zheng smiled before fixing his gaze on a book.
" Can I take this book? " Zheng asked sincerely.
The younger priest looked at the old book lying in the corner of the hall.
" That one is really a very old book, and we never opened it. This morning we took it out with other broken and old objects. It's useless, " the younger priest said normally.
Zheng smiled.
" In the eyes of fools, many things are useless. In the hands of the wise, even trash can shape destiny. "
Zheng said, his gaze fixed on the book.
The oldest priest looked at the book.
" You can take it since it's not important, " the oldest priest said before walking away.
Zheng nodded respectfully.
" I hope you have a nice day, " Zheng said politely before walking toward the book and taking it.
The young priest looked at him from a distance, confused.
" This man is very strange, " he said before following the oldest priest.
Zheng walked outside the temple, looking around at the many people and shops.
" So this is humanity… noisy, fragile, and yet so certain of the heavens. "
Zheng said to himself calmly before walking into the market street, his steps calm yet deliberate.
Suddenly, a small boy ran toward him and bumped into him.
" I am sorry! " the boy said with a gasp before collapsing onto the street.
Zheng looked down at him calmly before offering his hand to help him stand.
" It is a small matter. I don't mind. Be more careful next time, " he said calmly.
The boy held his cold hand and stood up.
" T-thanks… " the boy said hesitantly.
Soon, a man and a woman arrived with a girl.
" Here you are! " the boy's mother said strictly.
The boy's father looked at Zheng apologetically.
" I am sorry if our son did something wrong. He is a bit naughty, " his father said.
Zheng looked at the boy's mother scolding him.
" There is no need for that. Children are like the morning sun; their spirits should not be dampened by such trifles. "
Zheng said before walking away.
He entered a small hotel with a calm gaze.
" I want my room key, " Zheng asked politely.
The man nodded before giving him a key.
" Welcome back " the man said respectfully.
Zheng took the key before walking toward his room, his steps calm and slow.
Once he arrived in front of his room, he opened the door with the key before closing it behind him and sitting on a chair.
" You are still alive. That's quite interesting. Though you have to die, because you are the only way for me to achieve Lian Qi Eighth Star. Your soul will refine my own soul. "
Zheng said calmly before putting the book on the table.
He then walked toward the cupboard and opened it. A woman fell out onto the floor, her hands tied with rope.
" You are a monster! " the woman said angrily, trying to sit up.
Zheng knelt down and looked at her.
" Your voice can't cross the walls of this room, " he said calmly.
The woman looked up at him angrily.
" You are a monster! There is no way someone like you should stay alive! " she shouted in anger.
Zheng smiled before sitting in front of her, crossing his legs and starting meditation.
" I hope your soul helps me, " Zheng said calmly, as his body started to be surrounded by a blue aura.
The woman's eyes widened.
" What are you going to do? " she asked, frightened.
Zheng opened his eyes calmly.
" Let me make it quick for you, " he said before grabbing her head and draining her soul from her body.
The woman's eyes froze instantly. Her breathing stopped before she collapsed onto the floor.
" That's enough for now. You did good work, " Zheng said coldly while looking down at her dead body.
Zheng smiled before starting meditation again. Closing his eyes, he began draining the woman's soul to refine his own. His body started releasing an intense amount of heat throughout the room.
Zheng's body was surrounded by blue particles before they were absorbed back into him.
" That's quite tasty. I just like the taste of power, " he said calmly before standing up.
After a while, Zheng stood on the grass in an empty field. In front of him, something was burning in the fire.
Zheng looked at the fire calmly.
" Since this sack of flesh no longer has any value, let it return to the earth. To waste energy on pity is the behavior of the weak. "
He said coldly without blinking, staring at the fire.
A middle-aged man walked there, looking at the fire before looking at him.
" What are you burning? " the man asked.
Zheng gave him a polite smile.
" Just some waste from the house, " he said calmly.
The man nodded.
" That's great to see someone who doesn't throw his trash on the roads. Maybe you are the best person I ever met, " the man said before patting his back and walking away.
