Chapter 1 - Chapter One: The Grandfather's Call

Jaguar was in his private helicopter, flying to his company. Suddenly, his assistant, Dan Dam, stopped talking on the phone and said:

- Sir, your grandfather wants to see you, right now.

Jaguar did not speak. His face looked hard. He knew why his grandfather called. He wanted to talk about marriage again. After a moment, Jaguar said:

- Turn the helicopter around. We are going to visit my grandfather.

Jaguar was the last member of his family. His parents died in a car accident when he was a child. One year later, his aunt Rosie died while giving birth. Her baby died too. People said she died because her husband was unfaithful to her. Now, only Jaguar and his grandfather were left alone.

The helicopter arrived at the palace. Jaguar walked inside. He saw his grandfather standing an staring in front of a large family photo. Next to it, there was a big picture of Aunt Rosie. She was wearing a beautiful white dress.

Jaguar stood next to his grandfather without making a sound. After a moment, he said:

- Grandfather, did you want to see me?

His grandfather did not look at him. His eyes were shining with tears as he looked at his daughter's picture. He tapped his cane on the floor and said:

- Look at your Aunt Rosie. How beautiful she was! Death took her away from me. I wish I had taken her out of that house before she suffered. She came to me asking for help, but I sent her back to her fate.

Jaguar smiled and said:

- Grandfather, she was truly beautiful. But please do not cry. She was like a rose. She left after she faded, but she will always be a pure white rose in our minds.

The grandfather remembered why he had called Jaguar. He said:

- My dear Jaguar, I want to talk about your marriage. I really want to hear the sound of children in this house.

Jaguar smiled. He took his grandfather's hand with his strong hands and helped him sit on his favorite chair. Then, Jaguar sat next to him and said:

- Yes, Grandfather. I am listening.

The grandfather lost his patience. He hit his cane on the floor and said:

- I do not want you to just listen! I want you to act. Find a bride and get married!

Jaguar was busy. He had no time for love. He said:

- Grandfather, I told you many times. I do not have a girlfriend.

The grandfather said:

- Then go find one!

Jaguar looked at his Aunt Rosie's picture. He had a smart idea. He said:

- I will ask for one bride, and only one. If you agree, I will marry her today.

The grandfather said:

- I agree! Who is she?

Jaguar said:

- She is the granddaughter of Fa Li family.

The grandfather turned red with anger. He shouted:

- Do you mean you want a wife from the family of Rosie's husband? The family of the man who caused her death?

Jaguar said coldly:

- Yes. It is her, or no one else.

At that moment, the grandfather remembered the past. He remembered how Fa Li (the father of Rosie's husband) came to Rosie's funeral. He remembered how he slapped Fa Li's father in front of everyone and threw him out of the funeral. He had declared then that he would never forgive them.

Jaguar knew his grandfather would never agree to marry into the family he had kicked out of his daughter's funeral. This was Jaguar's plan. By asking for the impossible, he would finally be free from his grandfather's pressure to get married.

The grandfather's hand started shaking. His cane was moving quickly because of his shaky hand. Suddenly, his eyes sparkled with a strange idea. He looked at his grandson and said:

- That is a very clever idea. You are so cunning!

Jaguar asked, surprised:

- Cunning? Why, Grandfather?

Jaguar realized his plan was exposed. His grandfather understood that he was trying to escape the marriage pressure.

But then, the grandfather dropped a bomb. His eyes showed a look Jaguar had never seen before. He declared:

- You will marry her, and you will treat her exactly the way Rosie's husband Mark treated my daughter. After all, she is just the daughter of Mark son of Fa Li from his second wife.

Jaguar was shocked. He wanted to close the door, but his grandfather opened it wide to lead him into a hell of revenge he had never imagined.

On the other side of the city, near the mountains, lived beautiful Fati. Her family lost everything because of the "Jack Pike" family. Fati was full of life. She ran to the mailman to get her university scholarship letter.

The mailman smiled and said:

- Finally, it is here, Fati! I hope you get accepted this time.

Fati hugged the letter and said:

- Thank you!

The mailman added:

- Wait, there is another letter for your grandfather.

- Of course, thank you again!

Fati ran to her grandfather, who sat in a wheelchair. She gave him his letter and hugged him.

Fati set on the floor. She started reading her letter out loud with hope, but her voice soon faded. Her eyes filled with tears when she realized the truth:

- I was rejected again.

She turned to her grandfather with a broken heart, but she forced a bright smile so she would not hurt him. She said:

- It is okay, Grandfather. There will be other chances. Now, it is your turn. Read your letter.

Her grandfather looked at her with sadness. He opened the letter and read it slowly. The paper fell into his lap, and his hand shook like never before. He looked at her with shock and whispered:

- It is a marriage proposal... from the 'Jack Pike' family.

Fati pulled the letter from her grandfather's shaking hands. She read it and asked:

- Do you mean me, Grandfather?

Her grandfather answered with a trembling voice:

- Yes. They want you for their grandson. You are the only one left after your three Brothrts.

There was a heavy silence. Then, Fati asked in shock and anger:

- Must I marry into their family? Are they not our enemies who destroyed our lives?

The grandfather sighed in sadness. He looked up at the sky as if looking for an answer to an old mystery. He said:

- I do not know, Fati. I do not know. I will call your father and ask him.
