Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

My name is Jeremy Standman. Sounds cool, right?

You're probably thinking I'm some hero saving lives, or a grade-A student—diligent and proud.

Well… that's not the case.

I'm currently a loser. Everyone teases and bullies me. I can't even walk straight without someone laughing.

But I do have one friend who stands by me. His name is Philip Stonedrum. Yeah, I know—crazy surname. He's sometimes weird and different… but I'm grateful for that.

Until something unexpected happened.

Maybe it was an illusion. Maybe a dream.

But I would soon find out the truth—and nothing would ever be the same.

It all started one cold evening.

I was walking near the corner of our dorm as usual—glasses on, head bowed, books clutched tightly against my chest like they were the only thing protecting me from the world.

My footsteps were quiet. Too quiet. I was always afraid to make noise.

But that never helped.

Somehow, I always attracted my bullies—like flies to rotten food.

Before I could react, rough hands grabbed me and dragged me into the bathroom.

The beating started immediately.

Fists. Kicks. Water splashing everywhere.

Their faces were full of wicked laughter.

And then… something changed.

I felt angry.

No—furious.

A kind of anger I had never felt before.

My body moved on its own.

I grabbed one of them by the collar, clenched my fist, and smashed it into his face.

It happened so fast.

I didn't even understand what I had done.

My vision blurred.

The world spun.

And then… darkness.
