Chapter 17:
The day was coming to an end and the dark night took over. There were stars in the sky, but were soon covered up by a rain cloud, that rained down on them. Men of Rohan and elves of Lothlorien lined up on the Helms Deep wall. Travis stood next to Princess Arwen on her right, while Gimil was on her left. Princess Arwen had not mentioned a word to anyone about who he was. Since Travis didn't know anyone and was scared to stand out, so he remained with Princess Arwen.
They could here the stomping steps of the orc army coming their way. They started out quiet, but as they got closer to Helms Deep their steps became louder. Travis's heart was beating faster and faster as the orc army came closer. He was afraid that an orc would recognize him and flee to tell his father of what he has done. He was supposed to be down there with the orc's, but instead he was fighting with the men and elves.
The orc army stopped and lined up their ranks. There were so many of them, that they definitely outnumbered the Rohan men, even though they had help from the elves. Aragon began giving the army of men and elves a pep talk before the battle would commence. The general of the orc army stood up on a big boulder. Then, the orc's began stomping their spears on the ground, making a bunch of noise.
Travis then looked at Princess Arwen.
"Let's get this over with." Said Travis.
Princess Arwen lifted his hand up to her lips and gently kissed the top of his hand. It sent chills down his spine. It was a feeling that he didn't want to forget and he knew that he never would.
Men and elves on the wall, including Legolas drew their bow and arrows. Travis pulled his bow out and drew back an arrow. They all aimed down at the orc army. Travis waited to hear orders from Aragon, but he saw an arrow fired at one of the orc's in the front line, which caused the orc to fall down dead.
Travis lowered his bow and looked to where the arrow was fired from. He saw a older gentleman with one useful eye. Travis could tell that he didn't mean to fire the arrow, but nevertheless that shouldn't be an excuse. Travis quickly looked back down at the orc army with fear in his eyes. He knew that this wasn't good. They have just angered them even more. The orc's started screeching, shouting and making loud roaring noises.
Soon enough, they began charging in their direction.
"Prepare to fire!" Replied Aragon.
The elves, men and Travis took aim. They waited for Aragon to give further orders.
"Their armor is weak at the neck and beneath the arm." Said Princess Arwen.
"Yes." Replied Travis.
Aragon then ordered them to release their arrows and they did just that. The elves fired at the orc's, causing a majority of them to fall down dead. Then, Theoden gave his men orders to fire their arrows. More orc's were killed. They kept reloading and firing arrows at the orc army, however, no matter how many times they did that, the orc's kept coming. They came at them like a swarm of bees returning to their hive. It wasn't long before the orc's pulled out their crossbows and started firing at them. Travis saw orc's and men fall from the wall of Helms Deep.
The battle had just begun.
