Chapter 36 – The Truth At Last
Author's POV
Watson Mansion – Private Garden
The celebration inside the mansion continued.
Laughter echoed through the grand hall.
But outside...
The garden was completely silent.
Percy stood beneath the evening sky with his hands in his pockets.
A few moments later...
Keifer walked over.
"You wanted to talk?"
Before Percy could answer...
Aries arrived as well.
He looked between the two of them.
"What's going on?"
For several seconds...
No one spoke.
Finally...
Percy took a deep breath.
"...I'm sorry."
Both Keifer and Aries frowned.
Percy looked at them.
"I should've told you the truth years ago."
Keifer's expression slowly became serious.
"...What truth?"
Percy lowered his head.
"The accident..."
"Aries never pushed me."
Silence.
Aries froze.
Keifer stared at Percy.
"...What did you just say?"
Percy looked directly into Keifer's eyes.
"It was Yuri."
"He lied."
"He told everyone Aries pushed me."
"But that never happened."
Aries clenched his fists.
"I kept trying to explain..."
"But no one believed me."
Keifer slowly looked at Aries.
His heart sank.
Every memory came rushing back.
The arguments...
The hatred...
The cold stares...
All because of one lie.
Percy continued,
"The truth is..."
"I lost control."
"The accident happened so fast."
"Aries tried to save me."
"He didn't hurt me."
"He tried to help."
Aries lowered his eyes.
"I couldn't prove it."
"So I stopped trying."
Keifer remained completely silent.
Finally...
He walked toward Aries.
"I'm sorry..."
His voice was barely above a whisper.
"I believed Yuri."
"I blamed you."
"I hated you for something you never did."
Aries looked at him.
For a long moment...
Neither of them moved.
Then Aries smiled faintly.
"I was angry."
"I won't lie."
"But..."
"You're my brother."
"I don't want to keep carrying the past anymore."
Keifer's eyes became watery.
"I'm sorry."
This time...
Aries stepped forward first.
He hugged Keifer tightly.
"It's over."
"Let's leave it behind."
Keifer hugged him back.
"...Thank you."
Percy smiled as he watched them.
A weight he had carried for years...
Finally disappeared.
Keifer turned toward Percy.
"You should've told us sooner."
Percy smiled apologetically.
"I know."
"I was scared."
"I thought you'd both hate me."
Aries walked over and lightly punched Percy's shoulder.
"You idiot."
"We're just happy you're alive."
Keifer laughed.
"For once..."
"I actually agree with him."
Percy rubbed his shoulder dramatically.
"So this is how you welcome me back?"
Aries smirked.
"You deserve worse."
The three of them laughed together.
For the first time in years...
There was no anger.
No hatred.
No misunderstanding.
Only friendship.
Only brotherhood.
Back inside the mansion...
Jay stood near the window.
She noticed the three of them walking back together.
All three were smiling.
A gentle smile appeared on her face.
"...Finally."
Ella noticed too.
"They made up?"
Jay nodded.
"I think they did."
Ella smiled happily.
"It's about time."
Jay quietly looked at the three boys.
Sometimes...
The greatest victory wasn't winning a battle.
It was finding your way back to the people you once called family.
To Be Continued...
