Chapter 38 – A Familiar Surprise

The final bell echoed throughout the campus.
Students quickly packed their bags before rushing out of their classrooms.
Section E slowly walked toward the school gate together.
Ci-N stretched dramatically.
"I'm starving."
David glanced at him.
"When are you not?"
"I have priorities."
"No."
"You have a food addiction."
Everyone laughed.
As they reached the school gate...
A black luxury car slowly pulled over.
Jay casually looked toward it...
Then suddenly stopped walking.
"..."
The driver's door opened.
A familiar young man stepped out.
Keifer.
For a few seconds...
Everyone froze.
Ci-N blinked twice.
"...No way."
David rubbed his eyes.
"I thought you were in the Philippines Branch working."
Keifer smiled.
"I am."
Felix laughed.
"So why are you here?"
Keifer looked at Jay before answering.
"I came to surprise someone."
Jay folded her arms.
"Oh?"
"Who?"
Keifer took a step closer and smiled.
"The prettiest girl in HVIS."
Jay looked away, trying to hide her smile.
"You're unbelievable."
Ci-N placed a hand over his heart dramatically.
"Can you two flirt after I eat?"
The whole group burst into laughter.
Keifer chuckled.
"I missed this."
Edrix folded his arms.
"When did you get back?"
"This morning."
"Today was my first official day managing the Philippines Branch."
"After work..."
"I came here."
Jay smiled.
"So Mr. CEO is officially based in the Philippines now."
Keifer nodded.
"Looks like you're stuck with me again."
Ci-N cheered.
"Best news ever!"
David sighed.
"There goes my peaceful life."
Everyone laughed again.
Just then...
The rear door opened.
Honey Ryder stepped out, holding a tablet and a few documents.
She walked over to Keifer.
"Mr. Watson."
"I've confirmed tomorrow's meetings."
Keifer nodded.
"Thanks, Honey."
He turned toward everyone.
"Everyone..."
"This is Honey Ryder."
"My lawyer..."
"And my executive secretary."
Honey smiled politely.
"It's nice to meet all of you."
Jay smiled warmly.
"It's nice to meet you too."
Ci-N whispered to Felix,
"He actually has a lawyer."
Felix shrugged.
"He's a CEO."
Ci-N nodded.
"Fair enough."
Keifer checked the time.
"I'm actually heading to Fernandez Mansion."
Jay looked at him.
"Why?"
Keifer smiled.
"I'm here to pick up Kerian."
"I only left him there because I had to return to London."
"But now that I'm working in the Philippines..."
"It's time to bring him home."
Jay smiled.
"He'll be so happy."

Fernandez Mansion
A short while later...
The gates slowly opened.
As Keifer stepped out of the car...
The mansion door suddenly flew open.
"KUYA KEIFER!"
Kerian ran outside as fast as his little legs could carry him.
Keifer laughed and caught him in his arms.
"Hey, buddy."
"I missed you."
Kerian hugged him tightly.
"I missed you too!"
"I thought you forgot me!"
Keifer gently rubbed his hair.
"Never."
"I promised I'd come back."
Tita Gama smiled warmly.
"Welcome home, hijo."
"Thank you, Tita."
Everyone entered the living room.
Just as they sat down...
The doorbell rang.
"I'll get it," Tita Gama said.
A few moments later...
She returned with another guest.
Percy.
He walked inside with his usual carefree grin.
"Jay, I came to—"
He suddenly noticed Keifer.
A smile spread across his face.
"Well..."
"Looks like Mr. CEO is finally back."
Keifer walked over and hugged him.
"It's good to see you."
"You too."
Keifer then turned toward Honey.
"Honey..."
"This is Percy."
"My friend..."
"And Jay's stepbrother."
Honey smiled politely.
"It's nice to meet you."
Percy smiled back.
"The pleasure's mine."
For a brief moment...
They simply looked at each other.
Neither of them realised...
That this ordinary meeting...
Would one day become the beginning of something neither of them expected.
