Chapter 24 - “The Truth on Farewell Night”

The farewell party hall was glowing with fairy lights.

Everyone was dressed differently that day.

No uniforms.

No rules.

Just memories.

Anna stood near the balcony, holding her phone tightly.

Her heart was racing.

She couldn't carry this secret anymore.

So she called Emily.

"Can you come outside for a minute?" Anna asked softly.

Emily came within seconds.

"What happened? You look serious."

Anna took a deep breath.

"I'm leaving. I got admission abroad. I'm going after results."

Emily froze.

"What? Since when?"

"A few weeks," Anna admitted. "I didn't tell anyone."

Emily stared at her.

"Why would you hide something this big?"

Anna's voice lowered.

"I didn't want things to change… especially today."

Emily hugged her tightly.

"You idiot," she whispered emotionally. "This is huge."

Then Emily pulled back.

"And does Oliver know?"

Anna shook her head.

"No one knows."

Emily walked back inside slowly.

Anna thought she would keep it secret.

But Emily's emotions were too strong.

Within minutes—

Sophia knew.

Then a few classmates.

And soon…

The entire group.

Even Oliver.

Anna walked back into the hall and noticed the sudden change.

Everyone was looking at her.

Sophia rushed toward her.

"You're leaving? And you didn't tell me?!"

Anna felt guilty.

"I was going to…"

Oliver was standing a little behind them.

Quiet.

Serious.

He wasn't smiling.

He wasn't laughing.

He was just looking at her.

Later, when the music became softer and people were taking photos, Oliver walked toward her.

"You're going abroad?" he asked calmly.

"Yes," she replied.

"For how long?"

"For my studies… maybe years."

He nodded slowly.

"That's… big."

There was a pause.

A long one.

"You didn't think we deserved to know?" he asked gently.

Anna looked down.

"I didn't want drama on the last day."

He almost smiled.

"You always handle things alone."

She looked up at him.

"And you always stay distant."

For the first time in years—

They were honest.

Not loud.

Not dramatic.

Just honest.

The DJ called everyone for the last group photo.

As they stood side by side, their shoulders almost touching, Anna felt something heavy in her chest.

This was really the end.

No more roll number 11 and 12.

No more shared exams.

No more silent glances across desks.

After the photo, Oliver spoke quietly.

"I'm proud of you, Anna."

Three simple words.

But they meant everything.

She smiled.

"Thank you."

He hesitated, then added—

"Don't forget us."

She shook her head softly.

"I won't."

But deep inside, she knew—

No matter how far she went.

No matter which country.

No matter which sky.

She would always remember him.

Her silent love.

Her almost story.

And as the farewell lights slowly dimmed—

Anna realized something.

Sometimes, secrets don't stay secrets.

But feelings…

They stay forever. 💙✨
