The conference room was quiet.
Large glass walls. City skyline behind them.
Anna stood near the head of the table, calm and composed. Her team was seated around her. The partnership meeting was about to begin.
"Ma'am, Mr. Walker has arrived," her assistant informed.
Her heart skipped once.
After ten years.
"Send him in," she said steadily.
The door opened.
And there he was.
Oliver Walker.
Older.
Sharper.
Confident.
But the same eyes.
For a second, time didn't move.
He stepped inside professionally, unaware.
"Good afternoon," he began, looking at the CEO.
Then he froze.
Recognition slowly appeared on his face.
"Anna?"
Her name left his lips softly.
The room went silent.
She gave a small, controlled smile.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Walker. Please, have a seat."
Professional.
Calm.
Composed.
But inside—
Her heart was not calm at all.
The meeting continued.
Numbers.
Graphs.
Expansion plans.
Both of them spoke clearly.
Confidently.
Like two leaders.
Not two teenagers who once shared a classroom.
But every now and then, their eyes met.
And ten years disappeared.
After the meeting ended and her team left the room, only the two of them remained.
Silence filled the space.
He looked at her again.
"You're the CEO?"
She nodded slightly. "And you're doing pretty well yourself."
He gave a small smile.
"I didn't expect this."
"Neither did I," she replied.
There was so much unsaid between them.
"So… you disappeared," he said gently.
"You found out at farewell," she answered.
"You never said goodbye properly."
Anna looked at him.
"You never stopped me."
He didn't reply immediately.
Instead, he walked closer to the window.
"I was young," he admitted. "And stupid."
Her heart tightened.
"I thought you'd come back," he added quietly.
Anna's breath caught.
"I thought you didn't care."
For the first time in years—
The truth stood between them.
No friends.
No classroom.
No distance.
Just two adults.
And unfinished feelings.
He turned toward her.
"Did you ever…?" He stopped.
She held his gaze.
"Did I ever what?"
"Think about me?"
The question hung in the air.
Anna smiled softly.
"Ten years is a long time, Oliver."
"That's not an answer."
She stepped closer.
"And you already know the answer."
He didn't look away.
This time, neither did she.
The distance that lasted a decade felt fragile now.
Like it could disappear with one honest sentence.
Outside, the city lights glowed.
Inside, something from the past was waking up.
Maybe…
Their story wasn't silent anymore.
Maybe…
It was just beginning again. 💙
