Chapter 30 - “Under the Same Sky”

He walked closer, standing beside her. Not too close. Just enough for their shoulders to almost touch.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Ten years ago, silence between them meant confusion.

Now, it meant comfort.

"Do you remember," Oliver began softly, "how we used to avoid saying anything important?"

Anna laughed lightly. "We were scared."

"I was," he admitted. "Every time you looked at me during exams, I wanted to say something. But I didn't know how."

She turned to him slowly.

"I thought you liked Sophia."

"I know," he smiled. "And I thought you didn't like me at all."

She shook her head. "I liked you more than I showed."

He stepped a little closer.

"And now?"

Her heart beat faster — not nervously, but warmly.

"Now I'm not hiding."

The wind grew softer around them, as if even the night was listening.

Oliver gently took her hand.

Not suddenly.

Not dramatically.

Just naturally.

Like it had always belonged there.

"You know," he said quietly, "I used to imagine what would've happened if I had confessed in school."

"And?" she asked.

He smiled. "I think we would've been too immature to handle it."

She laughed. "Probably."

"But now…" his voice lowered, serious yet tender, "now I'm sure."

"Sure about what?"

"That I don't want another ten years to pass without telling you how I feel."

Her breath slowed.

He looked directly into her eyes.

"I love you, Anna. Not because you were my first crush. Not because of nostalgia. But because of the woman you became. Strong. Brave. Independent. And still kind."

Her eyes softened.

For years, she had imagined hearing those words.

But reality felt deeper than imagination.

She squeezed his hand gently.

"I love you too, Oliver. Not because of school memories. But because even after everything — distance, success, time — you still feel like home."

The word lingered between them.

Home.

He lifted his free hand and softly brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

Careful.

Respectful.

Meaningful.

"I'm glad you chose your own sky," he whispered.

She smiled.

"And I'm glad you found your way into it."

Under the same sky that once separated them by countries…

They now stood together.

No misunderstandings.

No silence.

Just honesty.

And for the first time in their story—

Love wasn't hidden.

It was spoken.

And it was returned. 💙✨
