Reaching his room Dave quietly closed the door before looking at the book in his hands
"Gen, do you think that this will work" he asked as the screen appeared next to him
"there is no evidence to suggest that it won't work and increasing your magical energy will be helpful for surviving in this world whether or not it has an effect on the system" she replied, being able to understand the nuances of Dave's words better
"then I suppose there's nothing to lose then is there" he said sitting on the bed and opening the book
thanks to the knowledge and potential of both the older soul and younger body it didn't take as long as Dave thought it would to understand the directions of the book and start practicing, taking a medatitive pose and focusing on his breathing
multiple hours later after following the books directions Dave considered himself to have been training his magic for long enough that he should have made enough progress to have gained more blue energy
looking at the system he had indeed increased the amount of energy that he had, but not by as much as he had hoped, the bar now stating that he had 8/8 meaning that even from hours of meditation he had only gained 2 more maximum blue energy
"I only gained 2 max energy after spending pretty much all day on this" he said in resignation
"unfortunately not, look at the achievements page" chimed in Gen
navigating to the achievements page Dave saw that it now said 6/?, the 2 new achievements being
'blue = magic' requirements: find out what the blue energy correlates to in this world, reward: energy required to generate will be shown before generation takes place
'external blue energy' requirements: gain blue energy via a method that isn't from the system, reward: +1 max blue energy
"I only actually gained 1 max energy from an entire days worth of training" Dave said now completely shocked, slightly annoyed at the small amount of progress he had made
"look on the bright side" said Gen, seeming to console him "this does mean that you can affect the system using external methods, and your parents did say that it wasn't much and in the future if you get into a magic school you will have access to better resources that will allow you to gain more energy more quickly"
"I guess your right, well now that I've improved my magic I think i should try to focus on improving my physical ability" Dave said trying to re-energise himself
"Gen, please use all of my blue energy to create weights in the form of wrist weights, a weighted shirt and ankle weights that will fit snuggly on my body and won't move around, and please make sure they are comfortable"
"understood, 8 energy available, weighted clothes data found, available generations using 8 energy, 1 five kg weighted vest or ankle and wrist weights 1 kg each, please decide" stated Gen
"let's go with the vest, it's heavier and should work better" Dave said decisively
"Generating weight, adjusting to users measurements"
a simple black vest showed up on Dave's bed, making a small indentation due to it's weight, but other than that it didn't even look like it was any heavier than normal clothing
taking off his shirt Dave picked up the vest, feeling the weight in his hands
"time to try and earn some yellow energy" he said with determination, slipping into the new vest and starting some simple exercises.
