The Lost Vampire System Chapter 38 - Healing Spit
"Let's go meet with the others and see how they're doing," Emma said as the trio exited from the room as Jareth carefully put the sword next to his backpack on his back.
They walked through the archway-designed hallway, through the other domes, and back onto the grass of the military academy. The sky was still cloudy, so Jareth received no stat depletion.
"This place is massive," Emma acknowledged. "I can't wait until we go to Military Base One."
"Same," Jareth agreed.
"If we can survive our expedition," Madison said.
"Is that Jareth?" a very familiar female voice said at the side.
The Vampiric turned his head to see his sister Mia running toward him. He opened his arms as they hugged for a moment.
"Your friend is very helpful," Mia said as she put out her hand with her palm facing up.
Jareth looked at her hand for a moment before he saw a ball of water start to form in her hand and begin to swirl around her hand. His expression brightened when he saw the ball of water wrapping around her hand.
"You learned the water power," Jareth excitedly praised his sister.
"I know," she answered with the same excitement that Jareth was giving.
They talked for a moment, and after telling her that his teacher gave him his sword, the excitement got a little too much for Madison. She rolled her eyes with a little smile on her face as she walked away. A moment later, Damion, Henry, and Keira arrived. Henry showed the group what Damion helped him out with as roots looked like they grew from the palm of his hand into a short whip. Keira also joined in as her hair started to go crazy and blew up dead grass from the ground. They were all in a happy mood as they headed back to their building, which also happened to be Building 6. It was officially called "First Year Building Number 6."
"Where is everyone else?" Keira asked as she looked around.
"I messaged Hannah on my Forwatch," Damion began. "She said if you take the Generic Evolved class for that day, then you can eat at their cafeteria, so the rest got together and are eating there."
"Eating right away is a bonus," said Emma as she licked her lips. "I'm hungry."
As they were walking over to their building, the group was discussing with Damion what an expedition to a Becifer planet would be like, since he seemed to be the only one whose family would actively drag him on one. Madison tapped him on the shoulder. Jareth looked at her as she did a hand motion to her stomach. He didn't get what she was referring to until he realized that she must be talking about his hunger.
Jareth slowed his pace under the cloudy sky as he checked on his hunger.
"Blood Energy: 27 of 40," the system stated.
Must be because I was active and not standing around doing nothing. Jareth rubbed his temple. Calculating this on the expedition will be a pain. I should definitely do it now before something bad happens.
Jareth nodded at Madison in confirmation, and Madison slowly started to go to Keira without drawing attention. Unlike everyone else, Keira had been paying very close attention to the two of them because of the incident the previous day. So, without Madison even needing to get her attention, the Cambion scratched her neck but at the end made a biting motion. She gulped as she nodded. Jareth wasn't paying attention, but he was hoping that she would figure out how to split off for a moment.
When they got to their building, the three were at the back while Mia and Henry were actually the ones really talking to Damion. Once they got inside, Madison quickly grabbed both of their arms, yanking them to the side.
"Go, go, go," she whispered while rushing them.
There was a girls' bathroom to their left, and just when he thought they were going to go past it, Madison pushed them in there. She closed the door as the other two just stood there. The Cambion locked the door and checked all the stalls before giving Jareth the okay. Jareth just stood there like he was waiting for one of the two girls to do something.
"By all means," Apollo said. "Take your time. It's not like this is normal."
Jareth shook his head as he approached Keira. She slowly turned her head to the right, taking off her bandage to show that her neck was completely healed. He got mere inches from her neck, then stopped.
"Can you hurry up?" Madison urged Jareth.
"I'm not exactly used to doing this, and I can't control it," the Vampiric replied.
Madison shook her head as she walked up to Keira. Her finger went smoky as a little claw formed.
"Sorry, Keira," Madison said as she made a little nick on her neck.
"Ow," Keira said as she backed away. "What was that for?"
She looked over at Jareth, and he looked like he had just smelled a steak made by a god. His dark blue eyes had a hint of red in them, and she could see two of his teeth looked to be elongated.
"I needed to trigger him," Madison finished as she went into the stall to pee.
Jareth was trying his hardest not to launch toward where the smell was coming from so as not to hurt Keira. He was just a few inches away when his instincts took hold and he sank his fangs into her neck. She gave a small yelp in fright as she covered her mouth. The pain where Madison had nicked her vanished when Jareth sank his fangs into her. After around 10 seconds, Jareth pulled away.
"You have consumed 156 milliliters of blood," the system chimed in. "Blood Energy: 40 of 40."
Jareth sighed as he went to wash his mouth as a trickle of blood had gone down his chin.
"Thank you," Jareth said as Keira had gotten some paper towels to clean the blood that had dripped, but there was no blood dripping from her wound.
There was a toilet flushing as Madison came out. She quickly washed her hands, then she approached Keira.
"I think your saliva has healing properties or something," Madison noted, and he turned to look at Keira. "I think the wound sealed itself once you pulled out of her neck, but the surrounding area took a while to heal."
"I don't think the surrounding area was healed by Jareth last time," Keira chimed in. "After you guys left, Amara had healed me using her Evolved power. She didn't before because she wanted to get a blood test to see what type of Becifer it could have been. She said the results were inconclusive as she healed my neck. She put a bandage on my neck, saying it's policy just in case it didn't fully heal me or something."
"Probably inconclusive because they've never seen vampire DNA before," Madison said as she held out her hand to Jareth. "Spit."
"What?"
"Spit," she ordered again.
His eyes furrowed as he decided too anyway. After spitting on Madison's hand, she immediately rubbed it on Keira's wound.
"What are you doing?" Keira asked as she tried to lightly push Madison away, but Madison didn't even budge. "I'm testing something, and he already bit into you; a little spit is nothing now."
When she pulled her hand away, the bite wound on her neck was gone. Keira did a double take as she looked in the mirror.
"Whoa," she said as she rubbed the spot. "How is that possible?"
"We have powers, and you're surprised that spit can heal?" Madison asked.
Keira's freckled face reddened slightly as she was about to try and defend what she meant.
"Yes, yes," Madison waved her off. "You're new to vampires. Let's just go before someone realizes that the bathroom is locked."
The three of them opened up the bathroom door and left just before someone tried to go in, and they made their way to the dining hall, where the others had just realized that they were gone.
