The Lost Vampire System Chapter 40 - Becifer Planets
Mia and Keira split off from them as their homeroom class was in a different building. The five of them went back to their homeroom building, as that was their next destination. Damion told the group that Hannah had messaged them, saying that she would be heading straight to the homeroom class.
"That'll probably be easier," Jareth said.
"Don't have to find her," Damion said. "Though after class, we should get together and train in NYXIS."
Jareth glanced at Madison, and she looked back at him before answering for him again.
"We shouldn't do NYXIS for training," Madison said. "I know there are training zones where you can't lose your stuff, but I don't want to risk losing my stuff just to train. I'd rather improve my body in the real world."
Damion glanced back at her before he looked forward again.
"I forgot you had a stake in the gaming world. Though after the expedition, we should try and get money in NYXIS before the take-out time of July first. I want free spending money that my family can't keep track of."
Jareth looked at Madison, but she just waved her hand in a don't worry about it motion. He faced the front again as they went inside. They continued and didn't stop until they sat in their spots next to Hannah.
"Almost late," she said through her mask.
Damion was sitting next to her, and he put out a single finger toward her. Hannah's mask looked at the finger, then tilted up to face Damion.
"You already copied my power," she said while turning away.
"I copied Mia, Henry, and Keira's powers to help them train, and now I am done for today," Damion said. "I'm also only touching the tip of your finger and not your arm. Also, I can only hold onto the power for twelve hours."
After a moment, her mask rolled in a little circle as she rolled her eyes.
"Fine," she said as she held out a finger.
Damion touched her finger, and he breathed a sigh.
"I like feeling this much Evo cells flowing through me."
That was when a door closed and Teacher Carl came in, holding onto a small stack of paper. He went to his desk and sat down. He didn't say anything.
"Why hasn't he said anything," Henry asked.
Jareth turned his head to look at the clock behind him. The time said that it was 12:59 pm, one minute before the class started. That's when the classroom door opened, and the girl who asked Carl a question during the homeroom class came in. Carl looked up before he stood up with his small stack of papers.
"Well, well, well," he spoke loudly so the entire class could hear. "You made it with seconds to spare. First, let's take attendance."
After that, Teacher Carl started talking about Becifer planets.
"Becifer planets," Carl began. "Do not exist within the Milky Way galaxy. You can only get there through teleportation gates created by a group of scientists that were killed during the Lyracken war. The solar system seems to be a small universe with many suns, even more planets, and moons. The planets are smaller than our moon, and the moons make our moon look like the sun. Around half of the planets are controlled by the human race, split somewhat evenly between the 10 factions and the military. One is controlled by the terrorist group called the Paradigm, which believes that no humans should have evolved powers. Honestly, pretty stupid considering that we are at war."
Emma's eye twitched as she heard this.
"The other half," Carl continued. "seem to be mostly controlled by the Lyracken race. We can't confirm if there is another party or not since the eyes that we send in never report back. There are three that we surround that seem to only have dark clouds in the sky within the planet. Same thing with sending things within the Lyracken territory is that we never hear back. So, we left those planets alone."
There were some murmurs, but it wasn't enough for Carl to make a fuss about it. He placed the first page on his desk and went to the next page.
"The number of planets that the human race occupies is," he paused to check the number, "3,981 and counting. It seems like as the factions explore more of the universe, they discover more planets. This is believed to also be the case for the Lyrackens. It is unknown as to whether other Becifer universes exist, but scientists doubt that there is only one."
Jareth suspected that Carl's notes were in big font so he could read them to the class as he placed the second page onto the desk.
"Becifers range in power so much that they are separated into categories. So far, they range from Tier 1 to Tier 8. There is speculation that there might be a Tier 9 on one of the planets we have not explored. Again, speculation, not confirmation. Let's start with the beasts that you might run into on the expedition, which are Tiers 1 through 3."
"Tier three," Damion said as the group turned toward him. "Excluding me because of uniqueness, the strongest in this room is Hannah, and Tier three might be too much without help."
"I haven't fought a Becifer before," Hannah said. "How strong are they?"
Like Carl was in their conversation, he announced it.
"In each Becifer tier, it is ranked from low, mid, and high. If you can beat a Simple low-tier beast and you happen to have a scanner and scan the next Becifer and it says Simple high, but you can't beat high, then you might die because you didn't read that it said high. Luckily for you guys, your assigned groups will have a scanner. The first tier is called the Simple Tier. The second is called the Advanced Tier, and the third is called the Superior Tier. Each tier you go up increases ten times in strength as a whole. Though the difference between a high Simple and low Advanced isn't that much, it's enough."
Hannah sighed. "I think I can hold my own for a low Superior tier."
Damion chuckled a little as she turned to look at him.
"Why are you chuckling?" she demanded.
"You might be as strong as them, but each Becifer is different, especially the ones that look like a human from a distance."
"This is mostly an explored planet," Carl continued. "There are parts unexplored, but you won't be going there. The planet consists of Simple and Advanced tier Becifers. There have only been three sightings of a Superior tier, but that's it. In each Becifer is a crystal. These crystals are harnessed and used for energy in our cities, weapons, and armor. Just like a Becifer's power and strength multiply by around ten, so do the prices. A simple low-tier crystal can sell for at least $100. Do the math."
There was a lot more talking this time as students started to discuss how rich they could be just after a single expedition. Carl stomped his foot on the ground, and the class slowly stopped talking.
"Don't get ahead of yourselves," he snapped like he was talking to a spoiled child. "These beasts are still strong, and one wrong move, you're dead."
The class came to their senses after hearing this. They looked at each other as they thought about the consequences.
"Yeah," Teacher Carl continued. "Students in here with hunter parents, consider yourselves grateful that your parent came back alive. There are a lot of people who died senselessly because they thought they could take on another even after they fought one. Know your limit and your Evo cells limit. That is the extent of Becifer knowledge I will teach you today." He sighed like he hated this part. "Questions?"
For the rest of class, Teacher Carl answered questions from the students, and each time that one girl at the front raised her hand, his face would get redder and redder until Jareth thought he was going to explode in anger. Luckily for both of them, the bell had rung.
"Run to get a pod for NYXIS before the crowds come to practice for the expedition," Madison whispered as she took off from her seat.
"Wait," Jareth said as he ran after her with his backpack and sword.
"Are they a thing," Hannah randomly asked.
"I don't think so," Damion answered Hannah as they got up. "I think they agreed to something… and I'm going to find out what. See you in NYXIS, demonicMadison1."
