The Lost Vampire System Chapter 41 - CyberGirl's Event
The two teenagers ran through the crowd of students that, apparently, based on the conversations they could hear, were planning on doing the same thing. They ran down the stairs and out the door, and unlike the last three times, he was greeted with a notification as he stepped into the sunlight.
"You are in direct sunlight. All stats reduced by 55%."
"Oh, come on!" he complained as he slumped over.
A few seconds later, he could feel someone holding him up and moving him along. It was Madison, as she seemed to be in a hurry, but they were in front of the majority of the crowd.
"I think… we are… fine," he said through panted breath.
"Besides beating the traffic," Madison said, "there is an open battle royale event hosted by CyberGirl to claim one of the artifacts in her collection. It starts in 10 minutes."
"Lines up for when military class ends and not regular school ending," Jareth said. "Maybe she is secretly a student and planned this for when her class is over."
Madison started to laugh like he had suggested that Becifer planets weren't real and were just a big conspiracy.
"If the creator of NYXIS is a student, then I'm a man," Madison laughed as she quickly let go of Jareth to wipe away a tear in her eye, grabbing onto him before he could fall. "She either has to be the smartest person in the world or have an Evolved power to control technology. Which would you bet your money on?"
Jareth agreed with Madison's explanation before he reached the shade of their dormitory building, and his stats returned to normal. They got on the elevator, and a couple others got in.
"I'm so excited for CyberGirl's event," a boy next to Jareth said. "I'm going to get the artifact and be rich."
"In your wet dreams," the girl next to him said as she slapped his arm. "I'm only coming so I can sit on the side and watch your body explode, then I'm going to collect your coins."
"Didn't you die like twice yesterday alone, kitcat?" another boy said as he grabbed her hand. "You know making money means not dying, right?"
"I know, baby," she responded. "I'll get better, I promise."
The two proceeded to kiss, and Jareth could see Madison rolling her eyes as she rubbed her temple.
Jareth lightly chuckled as the doors opened on the 15th floor, which was the girls' VIP floor.
"Excuse me," a soft female voice said from the back of the elevator. She had on the same green-colored military uniform. The difference was that she also wore a light green military sweatshirt, which Mia never mentioned that she got.
It must be VIP benefits, Jareth thought as she exited the area. Being VIP must be great.
I must get to the gaming box in my room, the girl thought as she started to walk down the hallway to the bottom left of the H-style building as the elevator door closed. I must start my battle royal and find CrimsonDawn.
Back on the elevator, the couple were still kissing, but it looked like neither one knew how to kiss.
"Get a room or learn how to kiss," the third wheel boy said. "It looks like you are trying to kiss a fish, but the fish also has a human tongue."
The couple stopped as they turned to face the boy.
"You're just jealous I'm not kissing you," the girl giggled as she went back to kissing her boyfriend.
"End me," Madison muttered under her breath, but due to Jareth's good hearing, he could make out the words.
The elevator doors opened on the 17th floor, which was just the second floor of the gaming room, and everyone on the elevator got off. The two made their way over to the two gaming boxes at the back, where it had a green light displayed on the door. Madison got the far end one, and Jareth got in the inner one after they both paid for three hours, costing Jareth $30. After Jareth placed his backpack and sword in the corner, both of them started to put on the straps needed to get the full experience in the game. Madison placed her headset on before Jareth did and relaxed her mind as they got transported into NYXIS.
"Welcome back, CrimsonDawn," the voice of the NYXIS system said.
Jareth started to type in demonicMadison1 to invite her when he got an invite from her. He selected accept as once again his body was transported through a world of broken fragments. His stomach churned, but it didn't feel as bad as the first time. It could be the fact that he evolved, or the game was designed to make the first time feel worse. His vision flared white, and the upward pull snapped. Jareth slammed into solid ground.
He opened his eyes to find himself at the same teleporting area, except there were significantly more people. He looked around to see Madison in her white tank top, a pair of white jeans, and her boots, what she was wearing when they parted in NYXIS.
"Come on, CrimsonDawn," she said. "Let's go."
They rushed off into the city. There was a big projection hologram of CyberGirl in the middle of the city. The two rushed toward it because at the bottom would be a large portal that would open and transport them into CyberGirl's battle royale world. Madison wanted to be in the front because being in the middle or back led to a higher chance of someone doing something to cause the deaths of their avatars.
Back in the gaming box room, there was a single green gaming box left open. There was a student frantically looking for a box.
There is one, the girl thought as she ran to the door, but just before she could reach it, another student stepped in front.
"Now usually I would let you go first, but I need to check on something today," a male voice said.
She looked up to see a handsome man with neatly styled jet-black hair. The man was Damion. Her heart started to beat faster as he moved his Forwatch to hers. A ding sound was heard, and when she looked at her watch, it showed that Damion Youngblood had gifted her 1,000 dollars. She looked back up at him with slight shock in her expression.
"Please don't make a fuss over this," Damion said as he turned around to place 5 hours on the screen. "Go buy a beast weapon or two for the expedition in two days."
She stared at his back before she just walked away with a little hop in her step, as now she didn't have to worry about getting a weapon or a piece of armor for the expedition.
Damion got into the gaming box, placed the equipment on, and entered NYXIS. He popped up in the white room wearing an angelic set of armor, but the color was slightly more orange than white.
"Welcome back, CopyLord," the voice of NYXIS said.
In a large dark room, there was a gaming-type setup so grand it would make most gamers regret breathing the same air as her. There was a bed, closet, and a small bathroom. Though, what stood out the most was that there was a gaming box in the corner of the room. Standing in front of the gaming box was a girl wearing a light green military sweatshirt with her hood up. She was rolling up her sleeves, showing off her light skin as she tapped something on her Forwatch. The girl got in her gaming box, putting on her gear.
"Please be here, CrimsonDawn," she muttered. "I can't believe I'm spending this much money to find you."
She then lowered the headset over her head and entered NYXIS. She appeared in a white room with a screen in front of her.
The voice of NYXIS spoke. "Welcome back…CyberGirl."
