Chapter 10 - chapter 10:who is Cole

Hailey cleared her throat loudly, gaining their attention.

"Who is she? Your maid?" Amelia asked and Hailey wanted to scoff, a maid?

"She's not someone you should worry about," Hardin said as he didn't even spare a glance at Hailey who bit her lips hard.

"Oh, alright then" Amelia said, turning towards Hardin as they engaged in a conversation.

Amelia felt like an outsider standing there with them and she went upstairs to her room, she felt a heavy load on her shoulders.

She suddenly felt heavy as she laid on her bed. She was truly an outsider in this house, she didn't belong here at all. Maybe she felt a little hope when Hardin's parents were nice to her but now all hope is gone.

Was that woman the reason why he hasn't been eating at home?

Is that why he never made an attempt to touch her even though they were married?

If he loved that woman why didn't he marry her in the first place?

Hailey sighed as all her questions settled on her stomach, not getting answers, knowing they were downstairs doing the unspeakable was heartbreaking for her.

She shouldn't feel like this, she didn't even know this man existed till three weeks ago. After a while she stood up and went downstairs.

She could hear the hearty laughter from the lady as she walked downstairs, she walked past them and towards the front door leaving the house.

She left and they didn't even notice she did, Hailey bit her lips as she walked towards the road to stop a taxi, maybe taking some fresh air would be nice.

Hailey went to a restaurant. Hardin usually sends money to her account for groceries, but she doesn't really spend much on groceries so there were still leftovers.

Though she had wondered what she would use the money on, since she never got to leave the house, guess it came in handy today.

Hailey sat down on a table and ordered juice, she was taking her juice when someone sat down opposite her.

"Sorry if I am interrupting something" he said with a smile and Hailey blinked multiple times before smiling back.

"Not at all," Hailey said and he nodded.

"I'm Cole, what's your name?" He asked.

"Hailey"

"Beautiful name for a gorgeous lady" Cole replied and Hailey blushed while Cole chuckled.

"You live around here?" Cole asked and Hailey nodded slowly, his phone rang and Hailey could swear he groaned before taking it.

"Alright" Cole said over the phone and hung up.

"Am sorry about that, would love to stay here and chat with you but am quite busy" Cole said Hailey shook her head.

"It's no problem," Hailey replied.

"See you around, gorgeous" Cole said and walked out while Hailey smiled widely.

"He is so handsome, and he acts like a gentleman too," Hailey muttered in smiles.

_______

Hailey entered the house and no one was around, Hardin probably went out with that lady.

The thought alone spoiled Hailey's mood but she dismissed it and went to the kitchen, it seems the chef didn't come today.

Hardin probably told him not to come, just when she is beginning to enjoy the lessons, Hardin is truly a demon sent from hell to destroy her life.

_______

It's been almost two weeks and Hailey has been meeting Cole almost everyday, they got really close cause they had quite a lot in common.

Hailey would often use the excuse of going to the grocery store to meet Cole, she didn't know why, but she doesn't want Hardin to know about her friendship with Cole.

He had proven more than enough times that he would take away whatever brings her joy and she was pretty sure Cole would be no exception.

Hailey waited for Hardin to leave the house early so she could go meet Cole, they had promised to see earlier than usual, because he said he wanted to tell her something important.

Immediately Hardin left the house, Hailey left too.

She met Cole in their usual spot and he smiled at her as she hugged him.

"Sorry if I kept you waiting" Hailey said apologetically, Hardin had taken longer than expected to get ready today.

"It's no problem, let's go" Cole replied and they left the place.

Cole had been really understanding, he didn't ask her about her address or anything cause Hailey was reluctant in giving any information about her personal life.

She couldn't possibly tell him she was married to Hardin, a man who always finds ways to make her sad.

Cole had planned to tell Hailey his feelings today, he loved her since they met two weeks ago but he wanted to take things slow.

They walked into a restaurant and it was pretty much empty, there was no one.

"Let's have lunch" Cole said and Hailey nodded, they sat down and began eating, when Cole was about to talk about his feelings, Hardin entered the restaurant with a dark glare.

Hailey flinched immediately she saw her husband, her hand shook as she stood up staring at him, Cole had a confused look on as he looked between Hardin and Hailey.

"So this is what you've been doing behind my back.. yeah?" Hardin said, his tone filled with Malice.

"Mr Anthony, I am..." Cole started.

"I wasn't talking to you Cole, am talking to my wife" Hardin cut him off and Hailey bit her lips hard.

This is bad, this is very bad! "Wife?" Cole repeated as his eyes found Hailey who gave him an apologetic look, she seemed helpless.

"I..I'm sorry" Hailey said to Cole and Hardin scoffed.

"You're telling the wrong person sorry, dear wife" Hardin said as he walked closer to Hailey who kept her head down.

Cole tried to get in front of Hailey but Hardin punched him hard, bursting his lips and. Hailey's eyes widened.

"Hardin!" She yelled at him but he ignored her.

"Stay away from her if you don't want to be six feet under, you get me?" Hardin glared at Cole who only glared back.

Hailey tried to help Cole but Hardin gripped her hand hard as he led her out of the restaurant leaving Cole.
