Chapter 12 - chapter 12 : making new friends

Hardin took careful steps towards Hailey as she stayed rooted in her position.

"Hailey?" Cole's voice sounded through the phone as Hardin took the phone from Hailey who was still in a daze.

"Didn't I warn you against talking to my wife?" Hardin said to Cole over the phone.

"You don't get to tell me what to do," Cole retorted.

"We would see about that," Hardin said and hung up, his eyes on Hailey.

"I thought you went to work," Hailey said when she finally regained her senses.

"You were hoping I had gone to work so you could talk to him even after I warned you about him huh?" Hardin said, his voice filled with fury.

"You can't stop me from talking to my friend!" Hailey snapped.

"He is not your friend, you think I am being unfair towards you? Cole is way worse" Hardin replied.

Hailey wanted to retort when the door bell rang.

She glared at Hardin before going downstairs to open the door, Hardin followed behind her.

He didn't go to work today because he was worried about her. He hates to admit it to himself but he was extremely worried. She had locked herself up in her room throughout the day refusing to come out.

And he would frequently hear sobs from her room but he couldn't go in there to console her, after all she annoyed him too.

She has been meeting up with Cole for a while and he gave her the benefit of a doubt thinking she was going to the grocery store only to find out she was meeting up with Cole.

It could have been anyone but she chose him, the one person he hated, he was mad at her but seeing her cry was weakening for him.

To be honest, he was scared that he was beginning to fall for her just the way he did with the woman that looked like her.

Hailey opened the door and she was met with two unfamiliar faces.

A man and a woman.

"Good morning" Faye said as she walked into the house and Mark walked behind her.

Hailey was confused, she had no idea who these people were but they didn't look harmless.

Hardin rolled his eyes immediately when she saw who entered the house.

"You don't look happy to see us" Faye frowned at Hardin.

"That's because he is not, I told you we shouldn't have come here" Mark replied.

"I wanted to see his wife, aren't you angry about the fact that he got married without telling us?" Faye said with a frown.

Hailey just stared at them.

"You both seem to have a lot of time for you both to be here" Hardin said and Faye smiled.

"Is this your wife?" Faye asked, referring to Hailey.

"Yes she is," Hardin said.

"I saw her in the photos the media posted but she looks so real in person, I was totally confused," Faye said, staring at Hailey.

Hailey touched her face wondering if there was something in it because of the way this lady was looking at her.

"Let's talk" Mark said, gesturing for Hardin to follow him to the garden and Hardin sighed.

Couldn't they stay on their honeymoon for a few more years

"How are you feeling today, pretty lady?" Faye smiled at Hailey and she blinked.

"I'm fine, thank you" Hailey replied uncomfortably.

"You don't have to be stiff around me, I'm the sweetest girl you'll ever meet" Faye said as she locked hands with Hailey and led her to the couch.

"How did you and Hardin meet, I still don't understand how you managed to fall for someone like him" Faye Started and Hailey couldn't speak.

She didn't fall for Hardin, he literally forced her into getting married to him.

"I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Faye Campbell, wife to the handsome man that took her husband to the garden" Faye started and Hailey nodded.

"And that man is Mark Campbell, your husband's best friend" Faye added and Hailey nodded in understanding.

"I had no idea, Hardin had friends with his kind of attitude" Hailey said and Faye burst into laughter.

"I know right, but he isn't always like this, a bad girl wounded him" Faye said and Hailey blinked.

"He was hurt by a woman? Is that possible?" Hailey asked and Faye burst into another round of laughter.

"Of course it's possible, believe it or not, Hardin used to be a lover boy" Faye said and Hailey just couldn't imagine it, it's not even possible.

"The resemblance is striking" Faye muttered but Hailey couldn't understand what she said as she wasn't audible.

"Huh?"

"It's nothing, tell me how you guys met," Faye said with a huge smile.

"Stop questioning her" Hardin's voice was heard and Faye rolled her eyes, he walked in with Mark and Hailey turned her attention towards them.

"I just want her to answer questions I know you wouldn't answer," Faye said.

"She won't answer your questions either," Hardin said.

"You don't get to decide for me" Hailey interrupted and Hardin glared at her.

Faye smiled. "Go girl" she whispered and Hailey chuckled.

She would definitely love Faye's presence, though she talks a lot and she's very nosey, she is still fun to be around.

"Mark, take your wife out of my property" Hardin turned to Mark who chuckled.

"I don't tell her what to do," Mark said.

"And that's how it should be" Hailey interjected, Hardin should learn a thing or two from his friend.

"I love her more" Faye whispered to Mark and Mark chuckled.

"Both of you should leave, we were having a serious conversation before your presence interrupted" Hardin said.

"Serious conversation?" Faye said with a sly smile.

"I wonder what it's about," Mark added and Hardin frowned, while Hailey chuckled at their behavior.

This couple are the funniest people she has ever seen and Hardin seems to be light headed around them, who wouldn't be. She only met them today but she felt like she had known them for a long time.

"Hardin!" Erica's voice was heard from the front door as she stomped in with Cedric behind her.

"Fuck!" Hardin muttered.
