Chapter 22 - Shui Niao Jian Wu

Robb charged straight into the formation. Facing the army of House Lannister, he was like a ferocious tiger plunging into a flock of sheep, immediately entering the simplest mode of slaughter.

The sword in his right hand split a knight's skull open. His left hand stretched out in another direction, and a violently erupting ball of flame instantly burned a charging knight into charcoal.

On the battlefield, all combat techniques were forgotten for the most part.

Robb was now relying entirely on instinct, drawing upon every kind of energy within his body.

He mechanically repeated slashing motions, subconsciously using all kinds of spells and prayers, harvesting lives with ruthless indifference.

Lion Slash, Double Slash, Whirling Slash—one combat technique after another was unleashed.

Robb was like a dancer on the battlefield—elegant, yet cruel.

In less than ten minutes, a vacant zone appeared around Robb.

The corpses of Lannister soldiers piled together, their blood dyeing Robb from head to toe. He looked as if he had been soaked in a barrel of blood.

 "A ghost! A ghost!"

"It's a blood ghost—here to take our lives!"

 "Run, we've lost!"

Seeing this hellish scene, the Lannister soldiers were terrified out of their wits. Finally, some could no longer withstand the fear in their hearts, threw down their weapons, and fled to the rear.

The wolf cavalry grew even more rampant. They almost forgot that they were fighting a desperate battle against an enemy force ten times their size. They gathered around Robb, strangling the routed remnants he had shattered, while blocking cavalry that still tried to charge toward him.

An army is a massive collective, but it is not a simple, unified whole.

When some want to flee, others still try to organize resistance, so on the battlefield it was common to see the bizarre sight of one side collapsing while another fought to the death.

The Kingslayer, Jaime, saw Robb cutting through his central army as if no one were there, completely drilling through it in less than half an hour, charging straight toward him without restraint.

For an instant, he was dazed. In his ears rang the pounding of hooves, iron boots splashing through shallow water, the dull thud of swords hacking oak shields, the screech of steel grinding against steel, the whistling of arrows, the thunder of war drums, and the startled cries of a thousand horses all at once.

Shaking off the daze, Jaime immediately reacted. "Follow me! Follow me!"

Though the central army of several thousand had collapsed and even the supervisory troops could not reverse the shattered morale, Jaime still had his personal guard.

Jaime knew there was only one way to turn this battle around—he had to personally lead men to pin Robb down.

Once the center collapsed, the flanking troops sent out to attack the enemy wings would also fall into confusion, and might even be turned against one by one by Robb.

Jaime barely managed to gather a few hundred men. With a lance tucked under his arm, he launched a final charge toward where Robb was.

 "Kill!!"

 "Follow me—kill!"

Jaime shouted, boosting the morale of his troops.

But his roar also drew Robb's attention.

At this moment, blood had blurred Robb's vision. He wiped his eyes with the back of his hand and finally saw the situation ahead clearly.

That head of iconic golden hair—it really was the Kingslayer, Jaime.

He can still organize a charge at me? Robb was somewhat surprised. He stopped releasing other prayer spells, simply gripping his longsword and quietly waiting for Jaime to arrive.

 "Robb!"

Jaime roared as he swung his sword, cutting down several men— all of them routed Lannister soldiers.

In the darkness of night, the two could clearly see each other, yet with the crowd surging between them, this short distance took more than ten minutes to traverse.

Jaime saw that the various strange lights surrounding Robb had completely vanished. He looked no different from an ordinary man now.

"His evil arts are gone! Seize him—kill him!"

Jaime was invigorated and continued to spur on his men.

Robb coldly watched them charge over. The wolf cavalry rapidly formed up, ready to clash head-on.

Robb raised his hand, suppressing the wolf cavalry's agitation.

 He dismounted.

Seeing this abnormal scene, Jaime first felt a surge of joy, thinking his opponent had lost his mind. Immediately after, his heart sank. He knew Robb was no fool—daring to do this meant he must have something to rely on.

But no matter what, this was the charge that would decide victory or defeat, Jaime thought.

Then Jaime saw Robb tighten his grip on his sword and leap high alone toward his army. He strangely froze in midair for a second, maintaining the posture of a sword swing.

 And then—

At a speed and angle that defied all common sense, he rushed straight toward him!

Robb dashed to Jaime's front and slashed out with his sword. Countless sharp, dazzling white sword qi instantly erupted around Robb's body!

 Clang clang clang clang clang!

Jaime felt his armor being struck countless times in that instant. His balance broke, and he fell from his horse.

His mount was beheaded in an instant by one of the sword qi.

Robb didn't even spare a glance for the fallen man. His sword dance was not yet over.

Another burst of speed—he stopped in the densest cluster of Jaime's iron-hoofed troops. Sword qi shielded Robb's entire body, instantly carving out one empty zone after another.

Robb's movements were eerie. In the eyes of the Lannister soldiers, he was like a ghost that appeared and vanished without warning—suddenly arriving somewhere, taking all life there, then swiftly leaving!

War is the art of slaughter, and Robb was the dancer upon the battlefield.

 Shui Niao Jian Wu!

The Valkyrie's signature combat technique was once again unleashed from Robb's hands.

Seeing Robb fighting a bloody battle within the enemy formation, the wolf cavalry were greatly inspired. They all charged forward, entangling themselves with the Lannister army.

Their lances were thrust high, instantly piercing through any soldier who stood in their way.

The enemy had already been scared out of their wits, their will to fight shattered. As long as they fought, victory was assured.

As long as they followed Lord Robb, they would win.

 Fight—follow where the bloodlight appears.

Follow that leader drenched in blood.

Fight, and then crush the enemy!

 "Winter is coming!"

The wolf cavalry let out the second roar of this war. This time, it plunged the Kingslayer Jaime's core forces completely into the abyss of despair.

Jaime lay on the ground, his body covered in wounds. Struggling, he forced himself up, still wanting to reorganize his troops and fight again. He refused to believe that Robb was made of iron, that he would never grow tired.

But unfortunately, Jaime himself was not made of iron either.

The Blackfish appeared before him. Looking at the blood-soaked Jaime, he struck without hesitation, smashing him to the ground with the shaft of his spear, then dragged the dizzy Jaime on a parade around the battlefield.

"Jaime is captured! Surrender and you will not be killed!"

"Jaime is captured! Surrender and you will not be killed!"

The Blackfish and several wolf cavalry rode around the battlefield, flaunting Jaime as they displayed him to his cavalry.

At this moment, the Lannister cavalry truly saw that the overall situation was lost.

Aside from a few scattered sworn knights who tried to reclaim Jaime's body—thinking he had been killed by Robb—the rest of the cavalry began fleeing aimlessly in all directions.

The wolf cavalry began an unrestrained pursuit.
