Chapter 1 - chapter 1: the prodigy of an era

A story is never forgotten until the reader chooses to abandon it.

[Enki Augusta lived an unremarkable life—so unremarkable that it felt predetermined. He worked as a corporate employee in a small company, a cog turning quietly in a machine that neither noticed nor cared for him. Somewhere along the way, he adopted a belief that governed his entire existence:

Life should move exactly as fate intends.

He had matured far too early. Long before adulthood, Enki had learned that the universe itself would one day end—trillions of years in the future, yes, but inevitable all the same. That knowledge, combined with the careless words of a stranger—"Why bother doing anything if the world will end anyway?"—took root in his mind. Slowly, quietly, it became truth to him.

His childhood was ordinary in the bleakest sense. His parents fought constantly, their home filled with cold tension rather than warmth. When it came to Enki, they were neither cruel nor loving—merely indifferent. He was fed, clothed, and left alone.

In high school, his gloomy demeanor kept others at a distance. He had few friends and fewer connections, but he accepted it without resentment. If fate intended him to walk alone, then so be it.

College brought tragedy. His parents died in a car accident.

Enki did not cry.

He did not feel sorrow, anger, or regret. He merely accepted it as another turn of fate's wheel. If they died, then it must have been meant to happen.

Everything changed when he discovered a story online.

"Academy Life of the Moon Maiden."

At first, it was just another novel—something to pass the time. But as he read, something stirred within him. The characters struggled against destiny rather than submitting to it. They fought, failed, loved, and hoped.

For the first time, Enki questioned his belief.

Maybe letting fate decide everything… wasn't right.

He read obsessively. Days turned into nights, nights into weeks. Though the story had only a handful of readers, Enki never missed a single update.

Years passed.

The story continued—steadily, stubbornly—as if it existed because someone was still reading it.

Then one day, the author made an announcement.

She was terminally ill.

The story would end.

For the first time in many years, Enki felt something break inside him.

He cried.

It was only a single tear—but it was real. It was proof that he hadn't lost his emotions entirely.

After that, life returned to its dull rhythm. Enki read countless novels, finishing one after another, but none stirred him the way Academy Life of the Moon Maiden had.

Then, on an ordinary night, as he walked home from work—

A speeding truck ended his life.

That was the end of Enki Augusta.

And the beginning of Enki Harmonia.]

"I know that's supposed to be the summary of my life," a green-haired youth muttered, swinging his sword in steady arcs, "but do you really have to make it sound so dramatic?"

[Affirmative. Rewriting summary with reduced emotional emphasis.]

"Oi—stop. Stop!" Enki snapped. "I've already heard it more times than I can count. Enough already!"

The voice fell silent.

Enki Harmonia sighed, rolling his shoulders as he resumed training. Being transmigrated into Academy Life of the Moon Maiden was bad enough. Having to deal with a brainless system on top of that was torture.

Yes—Enki Harmonia, the third son of the Marquis Harmonia, was a transmigrator.

He remembered everything clearly. One moment, he was crossing the street after another exhausting day as a corporate slave. The next, he woke up as the heir of a noble family from a novel he knew all too well.

The Harmonia family.

An insignificant marquis house.

In the original story, the Harmonia name appeared exactly twice: once as a supporter of the allied forces, and once more when the casualties of the Third Dark Holy War were announced.

Extinct.

Every last one of them.

To make matters worse, Enki wasn't even the eldest son—he was the third.

His new father was a lazy noble who gambled, slept, and avoided responsibility. His mother was kind but frail, barely capable of casting even a rank-one spell. His eldest brother obsessed over magic, while the second devoted himself entirely to swordsmanship.

Still… at least he was treated well.

And at least he had escaped corporate life.

[Host, the main timeline will soon begin. What actions will you take?]

'How about giving me a buff instead of a headache, you useless system?' Enki thought.

[Function not found. Analyzer−type system lack buff distribution capabilities.]

"Just shut up," Enki muttered. "Things are better when you're quiet."

The system complied.

Enki finished his training and returned to his room. Midnight had already passed.

"At least this body has a mythic-tier attribute," he said softly.

In the world of Pleroma, attributes defined destiny.

They were divided into seven tiers:

Common Tier – Minor talents like improved stamina or sharper eyesight. Too weak for academies.

Uncommon Tier – The minimum requirement for admission. Enhanced mana pools or basic combat aptitude.

Rare Tier – Average talents. Barely sufficient for elite institutions like Caeleste Academy.

Epic Tier – Marked the truly gifted. Potential to reach high-level mages or knights.

Legendary Tier – Reserved for geniuses. Often inherited by noble bloodlines.

Mythic Tier – Prodigies of an era.

Divine Tier – Beyond comparison. Appearing only twice a century.

The protagonists themselves were monsters.

Elio Pseusma possessed the Divine attribute [Son of the Sun] and the Mythic [Blessed of Deceit].

Luna Aletheia bore [Daughter of the Moon] and [Revealer of Truth].

They were destined to surpass the heavens.

As for Enki—

He possessed the Mythic attribute [Life and Death Harmony], granting heightened sensitivity to the concepts of mortality and existence. Alongside it were two Legendary attributes:

[Equilibrium of Aura and Mana] – Allowing mastery of both sword and magic.

[Child of Earth and Nature] – Granting affinity with earth and nature elements.

Only then did he realize how strange it was.

He stood between the Sun of Lies and the Moon of Truth.

A perfect balance.

Enki shrugged.

It wasn't something worth dwelling on.

For now, all that mattered was this:

Entering Caeleste Academy.

Graduating.

And—most importantly—surviving.
