Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Determination

"Big Brother!"

Ender lowered his head, one hand covering his face, tears streaming down non-stop.

He understood his Big Brother's choice; love was sometimes that unreasonable. In his previous life, he had seen many news reports of lovers dying together.

He just hadn't expected such a thing to happen to him in this life, and because of it, he had lost a Family member!

Derrick's mouth was slightly agape, his eyes moist, a look of disbelief on his face.

He didn't believe it was true, but the facts were laid out before him, leaving no room for denial!

Hollu was deeply saddened, his expression dejected, his entire being devoid of spirit, as if gravely ill and listless.

He was Royce's eldest son. When Eric was born and sent back to the Family, it was he who raised him; he was more than a biological son.

But now, a white-haired man was sending off a black-haired one. How could he not be sad and dejected?

The older generation had experienced much, but their hearts were still filled with immense grief, because every Family member was an important part of this Family of less than a hundred people!

They tried to control their emotions, not wanting to lose composure in front of their nephews and nieces.

"Wuwu! Big Brother!"

Twelve's choked sobs came through.

Soon, Thirteen's cries also came, he was trying hard to control himself, his voice low.

No one spoke; everyone remained in the main tent, permeated by sorrow, for a long time.

After a long silence, the Family founder, Royce, spoke.

"I know Little One's departure makes everyone sad. He was the Family's pride and an excellent elder brother."

Compared to the others, Royce, as the Family founder, was calmer and more composed. He calmed the sadness in his heart.

This was also because his life had been full of hardships and he had experienced too much.

From being sold as a slave to Ganwu Universe Country, his life changed!

If he hadn't been rescued by the Molten Rock Empire, he couldn't even be sure if he would have lived to this age.

Settling down on Kuka Planet, marrying, having children, and raising descendants until now, he had lost two children, one grandson, and the person he loved most.

Ron Royce comforted everyone, "Little One has left us. With his personality, he certainly wouldn't want us to continue being sad."

"We who are alive must look forward and not live in sorrow."

"That's right! Big Brother (Little One) wouldn't want us to continue being sad. He would encourage us to be strong and move forward."

Everyone thought this, and their emotions improved slightly.

Ron Royce instructed Hollu, "Eldest, prepare for Little One's farewell."

"Yes, Father."

The grieving Hollu forced himself to cheer up and called a few people to help prepare the funeral.

He hadn't expected that the gentle and elegant Little One would also, as if cursed, walk down the same desperate path as his father... Night.

Everyone in the Family gathered for a funeral.

In a very oppressive atmosphere, the usually boisterous little ones dared not cause any trouble, each one quieter and more obedient than the last.

After the funeral, the adult males of the Family were gathered together.

Silence, a complete stillness.

"Beep—!"

Suddenly, Royce's communicator on his wrist made a sound.

The sound was quite piercing; it only occurred when important messages were received.

Opening the communicator, the message on it made even the hardship-experienced Royce's expression change.

"Respected three-star user, your ranch at Kuka Planet XXXX.XXXX coordinates has a three-star user, Rutter Holke, applying for privileged access to the usage rights of this ranch."

"Since you have priority usage rights for this ranch, you can freeze this ranch for five years by consuming contribution points. Within these five years, the usage rights of this ranch cannot be acquired by users below five-star."

"If after five years you do not have the privilege to reject it, then three-star user Rutter Holke will acquire the usage rights of this ranch."

"If you need to consume contribution points to freeze this ranch, please reply..."

contribution points were the currency for cultivating planets in the Molten Rock Empire, and there were many ways to earn contributions.

But privilege was a symbol of cultivating a Genius. There was only one way to acquire privilege: cultivate a Genius who entered the Stellar Training Camp!

Forcing himself to finish reading the message, Royce's face was ashen, and he gritted his teeth, a name escaping his lips: "Rutter Holke!"

On the day the Family lost an important member, the Holke Family's act of raiding their home infuriated Royce.

Ivan, the third eldest standing beside Royce, recalled Rutter Holke's information.

Rutter Holke, Stellar Level 7, Clan Chief of the Holke Family in Morning Light City, and a council member of Morning Light City.

"Father, we need to concentrate our contribution points to freeze the ranch first."

Ivan seemed relatively calm; he spoke to remind his father.

"Third eldest, transfer your contribution points to me."

Prompted by Ivan, Ron Royce calmed down.

When everyone heard their conversation, although they didn't know the specifics, they could discern from their grandfather's (father's) expression that something big had clearly happened.

Ron Royce and Ivan pooled their contribution points to apply for the ranch to be frozen. After that, the two discussed it telepathically and decided to tell everyone about the Family ranch crisis.

So, Ivan explained the situation, "The situation is like this..."

After Ivan finished speaking, Ender stood up with a "swoosh," "Grandfather! Take me to Morning Light City! I want to participate in the Morning Light Academy's entrance examination!"

Everyone looked over upon hearing this. In fact, their first thought after this incident was Ender!

Because if anyone in the Family had the most hope of entering the Stellar Training Camp, it was Ender!

"Eleven, have you thought it through?" Royce asked.

Ender's words were firm, "Big Brother entrusted the Family's future to me! I will never disappoint Big Brother!"

"Good!" Royce's expression was moved, "Tomorrow, you will go to Morning Light City with us!"

After the funeral, Ender returned home.

Derrick was already waiting; he patted Ender's shoulder, "Eleven, the Family's future is in your hands!"

If he could, Derrick would be willing to bear the Family's future, but unfortunately, his talent was not good enough, so he could only place his hopes on the younger generation, like Little One and his son Eleven!

"I will not fail Big Brother's expectations!" Ender nodded with a resolute expression, "The Family's ranch will not fall into the hands of others!"

"That's good!" Derrick nodded, "Get some good rest."

After seeing his father off, Ender lay on his bed, his thoughts scattered. "To solve the Family's ranch crisis, I must enter the Stellar Training Camp within five years. This is the only way!"

"If I can enter the Universe through the Stellar Training Camp and participate in the Pinnacle Genius Battle, and if I can join the Core Region of the Virtual Universe Company or the Huge Axe Dojo, perhaps there's a chance to revive Big Brother!"

Thinking of this, Ender came back to his senses. "Although Big Brother has Breakthrough to the Stellar Rank, it's impossible to ask a Universe Master to revive Big Brother within ten thousand years!"

"A Universe Master in the Original Universe, what a great existence that is! Even a Genius of Koti's level in the original work would find it very difficult! Very difficult to ask them to act within ten thousand years!"

"But this is also hope. If I really achieve it, Big Brother can be revived! No matter what, I must work towards this hope."

With his goal set, Ender fell asleep in meditation.

Early the next morning, after bidding farewell to his Family, Ender and the others flew for nearly an hour, finally arriving at Morning Light City.

It was an incredibly huge city, protected on all four sides by high city walls, within which towering buildings could vaguely be seen standing amidst the clouds and mist.

Even as they flew in the air, they could not see the end of the city walls; it was estimated that just one side of the wall would take a Planetary Level cultivator a long time to fly across.

Passing through a city gate tens of meters high, Ender arrived in a world completely different from the grassland.

Skyscrapers were magnificent, and the streets were bustling with people and goods!

This was a futuristic high-tech city, even surpassing the first-tier big cities he had visited in his previous life!

He looked back, and the high city walls divided this prosperous city and the cruel grassland into two worlds.

One side was Heaven!

One side was Hell!

Ender stood frozen, "What is this supposed to mean?"

"Rich families have rotting meat and wine, while the poor freeze to death on the roadside?"

At this moment, he finally understood what Big Brother and Father meant by going to Morning Light City!

He also understood why Second Uncle wanted to change this planet!
