Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 Casting Aside Face

Ender and Ivan had just left Morning Light Academy and were preparing to take a hovercar back to the Royce Family's residence in Morning Light City.

Beep—!

A piercing sound, accompanied by a slight vibration.

This was the communicator Ender had acquired after arriving in Morning Light City ringing.

Raising his left hand to open the communicator, Ender's expression was relaxed, "Important news, it seems the notification for special admission to Morning Light Academy has arrived."

Ivan stood beside the hovercar, looking at the communicator on Ender's wrist.

A light curtain popped out, with many Universe common language characters appearing on it, and at the end of the text, there was also the seal of Morning Light Academy.

"Candidate Ender Royce, your application for special admission to Morning Light Academy, submitted by Third Examiner Ian Tult, has been rejected by First Examiner Marcel Holke. Please complete the Trial Tower assessment at Morning Light Academy on the same day for score recording..."

After reading this new message, Ender was stunned; his application for special admission to Morning Light Academy had been rejected.

"Mentor Ian didn't lie, he really gave me a special admission slot to Morning Light Academy."

Ender felt grateful to Ian, "It's a pity it was rejected by someone from the Holke Family, under the name of First Examiner!"

"It's indeed someone from the Holke Family."

Having also finished reading the message, Ivan's expression merely changed slightly; this situation, on the contrary, met his expectations.

"Eleven, it's just that your special admission to Morning Light Academy was rejected. With your talent, as long as your Trial Tower assessment score isn't particularly bad, you'll definitely be able to enter Morning Light Academy."

He comforted Ender, "Let's go, go back and participate in the Trial Tower assessment."

Ender didn't speak, he nodded and returned to the entrance test location they had been to earlier.

...

Marcel sent a message, telling Ender to return to the Academy to participate in the Trial Tower assessment.

Then he opened Ender's file, preparing to see what was so special about this little fellow from the Royce Family that made Ian willing to fall out with him.

"An Apprentice-level killing a Planetary Level Demon Beast! Can such an absurd combat record be brazenly written in?"

As a member of a Morning Light City Stellar Rank Family, Marcel was all too familiar with such fabricated combat records; many Families had done this.

But no Family could be so outrageous as to dare to write in a combat record like an Apprentice-level killing a Planetary Level Demon Beast; wasn't this clearly telling others, "I faked it!"

Skipping the resume, he scrolled down and found Ender's test scores.

It wasn't a big deal not to look, but once he did, it made him jump up, exclaiming repeatedly, "Fourteen years old! 23 times mental power amplitude! How is this possible!"

"How is this possible? Such a score belongs to a key observation target, why didn't anyone inform me?"

Marcel slumped in his chair, staring at Ender's half-body photo on the light screen, feeling a little panicked.

"I must push the responsibility away, the problem must not be on me, I'll go find the on-site person to inquire now."

As a Stellar Rank expert who had lived for over a hundred years, Marcel quickly adjusted his mindset, ready to find someone to take the blame.

Using his communicator to connect to the site, he asked with a stern expression: "Candidate Ender Royce, Fourteen years old with a mental power amplitude of 23 times, this is a key observation target, but why didn't you inform me?"

The female examiner at the site panicked; she didn't remember testing a candidate with such a high mental power amplitude.

After careful recollection, she suddenly realized, wasn't this the candidate tested by Examiner Ian?

Seeing that it wasn't her responsibility, the female examiner relaxed a lot, "Examiner Marcel, this candidate was personally tested by Examiner Ian, he didn't go through me."

"What? He was personally tested by Ian!"

Hearing this answer, Marcel was helpless; he couldn't shift the blame away, because it was he who had rejected Ian's application.

He closed his communicator distractedly, and after a moment of contemplation, he began to think of countermeasures.

"In the current situation, the blame cannot be shifted."

Marcel pondered carefully, "A mental power amplitude of 23 times, as long as his movement technique isn't particularly bad, his Trial Tower score can't be very poor.

"If his Trial Tower score is mediocre, even if the Academy holds me accountable, I can use the excuse of a lapse in judgment.

"But if his Trial Tower score is very good, given the conflict between my Holke Family and the Royce Family, it will definitely be seen as personal revenge!"

"The information is limited, I can't analyze his movement technique level, I can only try to disturb his mindset."

Whoosh!

Marcel stood up; for the sake of his future, he had to take action himself!

What? a Stellar Rank expert targeting an Apprentice-level little fellow, he's throwing away his dignity!

What is dignity?

Can it preserve his mentor position at Morning Light Academy?

It can't?

Since it can't preserve his mentor position at Morning Light Academy, then what's the point of dignity!

After the above psychological struggle, Marcel decided to cast aside his dignity!

...

When Ender and Ivan returned to the test area waiting zone, some people who hadn't left yet saw them return and began to discuss in private.

"Why did the Royce Family people come back?"

"Didn't that little fellow pass the assessment?"

"They..."

Such conversations continued nonstop; clearly, these people were puzzled and curious about their return.

At this moment, a well-dressed middle-aged man came to the waiting area; he was Marcel, who had rushed over after seeing Ender and Ivan return via surveillance.

"Is that...?"

Seeing someone walking towards them, Ivan's brows furrowed slightly after clearly seeing the newcomer's appearance; he recognized the person.

Coming before them, Marcel ignored Ivan and only stared at Ender with a smile, "You are candidate Ender Royce, right?"

"I am."

Seeing the newcomer inquire with a smile, Ender politely replied.

Meanwhile, Ivan, with a cold face, asked, "Examiner Marcel Holke, when will the Trial Tower assessment begin?"

Hearing his third uncle Ivan's question, Ender's expression turned cold, thinking: "He is Marcel Holke of the Holke Family! The Examiner who rejected my special admission application to Morning Light Academy."

Now that the Royce Family and the Marcel Family had fallen out, entering a state of hostility, Ender naturally wouldn't show a good face to an enemy.

"When will the assessment begin? I'll have to take a careful look."

Marcel, with a smile, opened his communicator and pretended to scan it, then apologized insincerely, "I'm truly sorry, because you left midway, your queue order is at the very end."

While speaking, his gaze remained fixed on Ender, not even glancing at Ivan beside him.

"This feeling..."

Under Marcel's gaze, Ender gradually felt immense pressure, as if being stared at by an incredibly massive, hungry, and ferocious beast!

Moreover, this beast bared its fangs, ready to attack, and would pounce and tear at him if he showed the slightest lapse in vigilance!

This feeling made him very uncomfortable, and his psychological pressure was immense!

"Since Examiner, you've said so, then we'll just wait."

Ivan stepped forward, blocking in front of Ender, cutting off Marcel's gaze.

After that extremely dangerous gaze disappeared, Ender immediately felt much more relaxed, as if a heavy burden had been lifted.

"Since it was I who told you to return to the Academy to participate in the Trial Tower assessment, and now you're at the very end of the queue, why don't I wait with you?"

As he said this, Marcel looked like a responsible mentor.

"As an Examiner, Mentor Marcel, you must have important matters, there's no need to waste time on us."

Ivan directly refused, then turned to Ender and said, "Let's go, we'll rest aside."

Saying this, Ivan prepared to take Ender away.
