Main Characters
Serenity Adanna – Protagonist
19 years old, first-year Medicine & Surgery student. Sassy Sagittarian, competitive, stubborn, loves basketball, drawing, anime, and making comics. Has a playful but quick-tempered side. Hides past emotional scars behind humor and a chill vibe.
Stefan Cole – Male Lead
20 years old, 6'5", flirty, charming, and infuriatingly confident. Competitive on and off the court. Knows exactly how to push Serenity's buttons. Draws, plays basketball, and has a way of getting what he wants. Has history with Serenity from high school that still lingers.
---
Stefan's Friends / Roommates
Raiden Shaw – 6'3", half-serious, half-chaotic energy. The sarcastic voice of reason in the group. Plays basketball casually but prefers chilling, gaming, or giving unnecessary life advice.
Jake Thompson – 6'2", broad build, jokester of the squad. Lives to tease his friends and cause harmless trouble. Social butterfly and lowkey hopeless romantic.
Noah Bennett – 6'4", quiet but observant. Smart with dry humor. Doesn't talk much, but when he does, people listen. Has an artistic side like Stefan—good at photography.
Serenity's Friends
1. Celine – Serenity's best friend since high school. Knows everything about her past with Stefan. Protective, loyal, and not afraid to speak her mind.
2. Iris – One of Serenity's roommates. Loud, funny, and full of life. Always organizing random outings.
3. Odeliah – Roommate, Ghanaian, fashion-forward and bold. Loves styling Serenity against her will.
4. Verena – Met Serenity in class. Smart, calm, and reliable. A study partner who secretly loves basketball too.
5. Ciara – Funny, short-tempered in a cute way, always ready to back Serenity up during any drama.
6. Lena – Playful foodie. Always knows the best place to eat on campus. Loves gossip, but never about her friends.
7. Meris – Serenity's friend she met on her way to school. Calm, nerdy, and sweet, always with a book in hand and a shy smile.
Serenity
You asked anyone who Serenity was, they'd probably call her "that sharp-mouthed girl with a crossover better than most guys."
She was fire and focus in one body — a competitive, sassy Sagittarian who could shoot hoops with the boys in the afternoon and sketch entire anime scenes by midnight. She was the kind of girl who wore her headphones like armor and treated her sketchbook like a diary. Basketball was her escape. Drawing was her therapy. And anime? That was her favorite form of rebellion.
Now 19, a fresher in med school, Serenity had finally stepped into the next chapter of her life — even if she was technically a year late. But while everyone saw her as the funny, tomboyish girl who played basketball and laughed loud, there were memories from high school that still clung to her like shadow.
Especially him.
Stefan.
Tall. Effortlessly annoying. Ridiculously charming.
He had this lazy kind of smirk that could piss her off and make her blush at the same time. He teased her like it was a sport, flirted like it was second nature, and somehow still made her heart do backflips even when she wanted to slap him.
He was competitive too — on the court and off it. He drew just as well as she did, liked anime almost as much, and knew exactly how to press her buttons. But while Serenity burned hot and fast, Stefan was all smooth with confidence and hidden fire.
They hadn't spoken since she left high school.
But fate, like always, had its way of flipping the script.
And it started with a basketball court.
Author's Note
Hi, reader 🌸
Before you dive into this story, I just wanted to take a little moment to introduce myself. I'm a brand-new writer — this is actually my very first novel, and it feels surreal to finally be sharing it with the world.
I'm nineteen years old, currently in college, and honestly writing this book feels like the first step in chasing a dream I've carried for a long time. Outside of writing, I've always loved creative things. I draw, I spend way too many hours curled up with novels (especially the dark, romantic ones that make you want to scream at the characters), and when I'm not doing that, you can probably catch me playing basketball.
This story is close to my heart, and as you read, I hope it makes you feel something — whether it's butterflies, curiosity, or even the occasional frustration at the characters (don't worry, I feel that too sometimes while writing).
Because I'm new to this, I would love for you to leave your thoughts, comments, and encouragement. Every word really helps me grow as a writer, and it means so much more than you'd know.
Thank you for being here, for giving this book a chance, and for joining me on this journey.
Now… let's begin. 💫
