Chapter 11 - Overhaul

Ray walked into my room only to find Kanade sitting down and watching tv while eating a bagel. Kanade glanced at Ray for a second and instantly put his focus on the tv. \

"Yo, what's up Reina."

Ray raised up a bag of bagels with a hole in the middle.

"Why do you keep opening up the bag like this?"

Kanade smiled and bit into a bagel.

"Mhmuphma"

Ray grabbed Kanade by the collar as he let out a little giggle.

"Stop it and answer the question!"

"I like the middle bagels only, yall should adapt to me and put the middle bagels in a separate department."

Ray threw the bag of bagels at Kanade's forehead and walked up to Kanade slowly.

"Did you hear that Sakura has gotten back into football?"

He stared at the TV as he responded.

"That's a dumb question."

Ray's eyebrows dug into her nose like a drill.

"Why does it seem like you don't care?"

Kanade stood up and walked past Ray, wiping the crumbs off of his clothes. His pure white hair and blue eyes glowed as they were surrounded by a black abyss. No one could understand the mind of this genius, not even himself.

"I'll show you the next match."

Ray turned and grabbed him by the shoulder. He turned his head just enough for her to see his eye, he gazed at her with a look of hatred but not a trace of hostility was directed towards her.

"Just sit down and be patient."

I continued to practice but the splitting headache caused me to grab my head. The black abyss echoed through my mind.

"I'm better off alone."

Ray walked onto the field and pointed towards her phone.

"It's 3 in the morning buddy!"

I ignored her but every time I would fall from exhaustion she told me to get up again. Every time I messed up a shot she told me where I went wrong. Every time, every single time. I couldn't help but smile as she crossed her arms and looked down at me with a smile.

"Looks like we're practicing till school starts."

I asked her just to confirm, not because I needed to.

"Are you going to school?"

"No, I'm not going if you're not going."

As she said that the dark abyss was lit up by an angelic light. I stared at her pure face with widened eyes. My gaze did what my lips couldn't, speak. She was my guardian angel, not from the outside, but the opposite. I looked up at the sky and with a smile that squeezed the tears out of my face, I let out a silent

"Thank you."
