Xu Jingyi’s husband fell off a cliff and died instantly. Yet his younger sister returned home, shared the family power with her, and still refused to let go of the case that the police had already closed. Chapter 1 - Return to China

In the solemn and dignified cemetery, a woman in a black dress and a black suit was kneeling before a tombstone. Her long hair was pulled back, with a few strands falling loose at her sides. She wore exquisite makeup, but it couldn't hide her weary expression. Her head rested against the tombstone as she wept with sorrow.

Behind her, a bodyguard in a black suit stood with a look of sympathy, his hands gently supporting her shoulders.

"Madam, you haven't slept in days. It's about to rain, let's go back?" the man said, his voice hoarse.

It had been almost five days since the boss passed away, and he hadn't rested much. He would only have time to rest after sending the madam home.

Xu Jingyi's shoulders shook, tears streaming down her face. "A Wu, why? Who would want to harm Ruofeng?"

"Sister-in-law, A Wu is right. You haven't slept since brother fell off the cliff. You won't be able to take it. Let's go back."

Standing in front of the tombstone was a woman in a black suit. Her expression held subtle signs of sadness, but it wasn't obvious.

Xu Jingyi heard this and looked up at the woman who had spoken, her face streaked with tears.

"Ruoyan, your brother and I have been together for so long. His sudden departure… I just want to spend more time with him. You just got back from abroad and must be tired from the journey. Go back and rest."

Lin Ruoyan glanced at Xu Jingyi. "Sister-in-law, it's getting cold with the rain. My brother wouldn't want you to catch a chill here. Let's go back."

She walked over, pushing the bodyguard's hands away, and put her arms around Xu Jingyi's shoulders, her tone caring but with a hint of stiffness that was hard to detect. "Come on, we'll come back in a few days."

Xu Jingyi finally stood up. Her legs, numb from kneeling, and her aching knees struggled to support her weight. She almost fell again the moment she stood, but fortunately, Lin Ruoyan reacted quickly. Her hands, which were around Xu Jingyi's shoulders, quickly slid down to embrace her waist, preventing her from falling.

Lin Ruoyan's actions were purely instinctive, a way to avoid danger. It was only after they had both steadied themselves that she realized her hands were tightly wrapped around her sister-in-law's waist.

The pose was a little awkward. They were standing face to face, and in the heat of the moment, Lin Ruoyan hadn't been gentle. Xu Jingyi was practically being held in her arms.

A beautiful woman's waist looked slender, but it was actually soft to the touch.

The close-fitting dress was thin, and Lin Ruoyan's mind hadn't caught up. She unconsciously rubbed it twice because of the soft and comfortable feeling.

"Ahem…" Xu Jingyi was startled by her action. She coughed, then said a little awkwardly, "Ruoyan, you can let go now."

She had recovered her senses before Lin Ruoyan. She felt the two rubs on her waist very clearly. But when she turned her head and saw the other woman's somewhat blank expression, it was clear that it was an unconscious act.

Even though she felt a little offended, she couldn't make a scene.

"Ahem, ahem…" Lin Ruoyan's expressionless face now showed a hint of embarrassment as she came back to herself. She quickly retracted her hands, trying to maintain her composure. "Are you alright, Sister-in-law?"

"I'm fine." After this little mishap, although Xu Jingyi's expression was still somewhat sad, her tears finally stopped. They were standing too close together, so Xu Jingyi took a step back.

"Let's go then, and get some rest," Lin Ruoyan said, ignoring the other person's actions while reaching out to support Xu Jingyi's arm. "Sister-in-law, if your legs are uncomfortable, let's walk slowly. I'll help you."

"Yes, thank you," Xu Jingyi replied without further comment, and followed Lin Ruoyan's pace, looking back at the graveyard every few steps as they left.

The bodyguard witnessed this scene from the side, thinking that the relationship between the sister-in-law and the sister-in-law seemed quite good. Then he followed out with a righteous expression.

As they left the graveyard, sure enough, it started to drizzle. Xu Jingyi looked up at the sky, "Ruoyan, why don't you come back with me?"

Lin Ruoyan had only returned to the country yesterday. In the past, when she returned, Lin Ruofeng would always arrange a car and driver for her, so she didn't have her own car in the country. "Okay, thank you, sister-in-law."

The two got into the car and sat on the back seat, one on each side. The outside of the car window was dark and gloomy.

As soon as she got in the car, Xu Jingyi seemed like she could finally no longer hold on, resting one hand on the window and propping up her head, closing her eyes to rest.

The soundproofing of the business car was very good, with almost no noise. The sky outside was dark and gloomy, perfect for resting.

Lin Ruoyan also sat quietly. She hadn't had time to rest yet after her long flight back, but although her body was tired, her mind was clear.

The police said that her brother's death was due to an accidental fall from a cliff. Her brother had always been very careful in his actions. She found it hard to believe that the car accident was an accident.

From the cliff fall to the police's conclusion was only a matter of days, it was too hasty.

After hearing the news, she immediately dealt with her affairs abroad and rushed back. However, she only managed to make it back in time for her brother's funeral.

She wasn't clear on many details and had no one to ask, so she'd have to investigate later.
