As Eric sat inside his university's Advanced Chemistry Class, taking notes, both physical and mental, he did lament the fact that he did not choose to skip this day. He groans under his breath as he jots down everything his professor is teaching in his own creation of Asemic Writing, much to the ire of his teacher and classmates, he does it out of habit.
Despite the quickness of his writing style, his fellow classmates are much, much slower. Causing Eric to have quite the moment of silence as everyone copies down the notes in their own ways. Unfortunately, Eric is going to regret his decision to not skip today even more as everyone starts to hear quite pops echo throughout the corridors of the school. Almost immediately he, and everyone else in his class knew what it was. Gunshots.
Quickly, their professor jumped into action, telling people to go to the designated safe zones within the classroom as he locked the doors before running over and trying to set up the retractable bulletproof "safe room" for the young adults within his classroom. Unfortunately, the hinges within the corners of the walls jammed and broke off after little struggle.
"Shit!" The professor and Eric almost cursed at the same time as they watch the safe room fail to deploy. Though many were scared and out of options, few of them stepped up to watch the entrance to the classroom, Eric was one of them. Until now, it had be relatively peaceful for the large class. That was until the doors started to get kicked and shot at to hopefully unlock or break it open. When it did inevitably break open, the shooter was in for a nasty surprise.
As the door broke open and the shooter walked in, he was immediately tackled by Eric who got on top of him and tried to wrestle the gun away. Now Eric was no small fellow, having taken Air Force JROTC and lead the fitness club of the program for a year, along with being an avid baseball player, he was quite the broad and muscular young man, but not to the point people deliberately avoided him but actively came to him when seeking protection from bullies.
Despite Eric's best efforts, he was unable to wrestle the gun out of his soon would-be killer. Though he still had him on the floor. As the struggle for survival continued on, the tides turned for the worse as the shooter had lined up a fatal shot and would take it within seconds and unfortunately, Eric could not catch a speeding bullet at point blank.
A loud resounding bang rang throughout the classroom, deafening whoever was closest for a moment. As people got their senses back, they could see a pool of blood on the floor. Eric had been shot through the Lung, and was dying if not already dead. As the shooter pushes Eric's body off him, and gets up, he catches his breath as he readies to shoot everyone else in the classroom. Moments after, a shadow looms over him and unfortunately for the killer, he was too slow to react finding two hands on either side of his head before everything went black for him as his neck is snapped.
"Go.. fuck yourself... Bastard..." Eric hoarsely says in a fit of coughs before falling back and sliding down the wall, his vision blacking out as he sees his girlfriend sprinting towards him. Tears in her eyes. "Dont cry Mari... Ill always be with you..." He says as he rests the palm of his hand on her cheek before succumbing to his injuries.
Within the Port City of Kakandé in Africa
Eric awoke in a cold sweat, rising rapidly in wool bed. He grips his head as he groans in pain, the feeling of his memories transitioning from his past life and them mixing with his current ones is not the most pleasant feeling. It was a pretty big scare for his little brother who has been next to his bed for a majority of the day. "B-Big brother! Are you okay? I was so scared! You've been asleep for so long we had thought you died!"
Eric slowly gazed down at the child, slowly recognizing him as his little brother, Fodé Lamineko, and recognizing himself as his older brother and heir to the seat of power within the city-state, Ibraim Lamineko. "Im alright, little brother. I apologize for worrying you and our parents" Eric, or now Ibraim said to comfort his little brother.
"I will get the physician to make sure you're okay! Stay here big brother!" The small child said enthusiastically as he ran off, much to the entertainment of Ibraim.
