On her way back from the market one Saturday morning, Reina sees a notice at a supermarket gate. It reads; vacancy... Cleaner needed. She decides to try her luck and goes in to speak with the manager. Fortunately she gets the job, excitedly she rushes home but meets Okoro the famous palm wine tapper's son who had been wooing her for weeks
Okoro: "my babe how are you (tries to hug her) long time .. did you travel??"
Reina: "(rolling her eyes) Okoro please leave me I'm not in the mood. Get out of my face"
Okoro: "Don't talk like that na you know I love you"
Reina: "I've heard you. Now leave the road for me. I'm in a hurry"
Okoro : "Alright (raises his hands to show surrendering) I'll let you go but on one condition. Promise you'll call me once you're free"
Reina "Fine I will"
(They both part ways and curtain closes)
(The scene opens again just as Reina gets home. Surprised to see her grandma back from the church program early , she rummages through her bag and finds the key.)
Grandma: "What kept you so long I've been sitting here for hours. I'm sure you went to see a man. That's why they easily deceive you, you can never use your brain"
Reina: (ignoring her and trying to show her the foodstuff she got from the market) "they said garri is now ₦3500. We're still owing mama Favour"
Grandma: "That's your business I don't have any money again"
Reina: (goes inside to lay baby down and begins to cook.)
(After dinner she tells her grandma about the new job.)
Grandma: "(acting unconcerned) that's your business hope you know you'll be taking your baby with you"
Reina: "yes ma. No problem. I'm resuming tomorrow "
Later that night...
(Phone rings)
Okoro : "Hello babe. Since you didn't call me I decided to call you na"
Reina: "I'm sorry please I've been really busy since. In fact I got a job today. That time you saw me that's where I was coming from"
Okoro: "Wow that's nice. Don't worry once I marry you no more work again. I'll be the one working while you take care of the children "
Reina: "Na so (laughs) abeg I'm not even thinking of marrying now"
Okoro: "Seriously, what are you planning to do then. Or do you want to become a Reverend Sister?"
Reina: "No, it's nothing like that, its just the thought of marriage sometimes scares me. I don't know how to explain it..."
Okoro: "My dear, there's nothing scary about marrying the right person. Especially with peace of mind and many children"
Reina: "(laughing) how ironic, peace of mind and many children are like fire and ice. They are never in the same place. Many children means no peace of mind and..."
Okoro: "(cutting her short) don't worry about that, just agree to marry me first. Let's start the Knocking on the door ceremony immediately"
Reina: "Okoro please leave me, you've started again today, I told you no to talk to me about marriage, unless I'll distance myself from you"
Okoro: "Alright madam, I've heard you. Goodnight then, I need to check some traps I set the previous day"
Reina: "Yes, bye. See you later"
