Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: A Date, A Crush, and A new Beginning

"You can tell her… sometimes if you confess that you love them, they might just focus on you," Dior said gently.

Damian studied her for a moment. "Hmm… you're good with relationships."

"Yeah, thanks—oh shoot!" she suddenly exclaimed, checking the time. "I have to go. Thanks for the lunch."

He nodded as she quickly stood up and rushed out.

Outside, Dior flagged down a taxi and hurried back to the dance studio. The moment she stepped inside, she stopped—Kaden was leaning behind the door, resting.

"Kaden," she called softly.

He looked up at her. "Hey."

"I'm sorry I didn't eat with you guys."

"You don't have to apologize," he said calmly, handing her a snack. "Take this."

"Thank you so much," she said happily, accepting it even though she had already eaten.

There was a brief silence before Kaden spoke again. "How about we go for dinner tomorrow… 6 p.m.?"

Her eyes lit up, excitement taking over her thoughts before she could stop herself. "It's a date—"

She froze, immediately covering her mouth.

Kaden smiled. "Sure… then it's a date. I'll pick you up at your dorm."

Dior could only nod, afraid she might say something else embarrassing.

Kaden opened the door and walked back into the studio, a faint smile on his lips. The moment the door closed behind him, Dior jumped in excitement.

"Yes, yes, yes! Finally! I'm going on a date with my childhood crush!" she whispered to herself, grinning. "I just hope I don't start thinking about my ex…"

She quickly composed herself and entered the studio, walking over to sit beside Hazel on the floor.

"Okay, now that everyone is back, let's continue," the instructor said, going over the songs and choreography they would be performing.

Three hours later…

"Yay, we're done!" Hazel said, stretching her arms.

"I can't believe we'll be performing ballet as part of the dance," Dior added excitedly. "I've always wanted to try it!"

"Yeah… but why isn't Vorden here yet?" Hazel asked, looking around.

"I already texted him. He said he's on his way. Let's just wait."

"Fine…"

Two minutes later, Vorden arrived.

"Sorry I'm late, girls."

"You better be. We've been waiting two whole minutes," Dior said dramatically.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry," he replied.

They got into the car, and Hazel quickly told him the news.

"Your dream is finally coming true. Congratulations," Vorden said sincerely.

"Thanks. But what about your cooking show? When will it be released?" Hazel asked.

"They said the video will be out in about a week. So maybe two or three weeks from now. I probably won't even be able to get tickets to come watch you guys."

"Oh… it's okay," Hazel replied.

Soon, they arrived at the dorm.

"Bye!"

"Bye!" they said as Vorden drove off.

The girls walked inside.

Dior's energy was impossible to ignore.

"Dior… what's wrong with you? You look extremely happy," Hazel said, narrowing her eyes playfully. "Tell me—did Damian ask you out?"

"Eww! No," Dior said quickly. "I told you, he's not my type. And the contract is still on. He said he's not in a hurry."

"Oh… okay. Sorry for always saying that," Hazel replied.

"Apology accepted," Dior said with a smile.

"Then why are you so happy?"

Dior hesitated for a second before blurting it out. "Your cousin asked me out."

Hazel froze. "What?! How? When?"

"Well… when I got back, I met him at the door. I apologized for missing lunch, and then he asked me to dinner tomorrow at 6 p.m. I don't know what came over me, but I said 'it's a date'… and he agreed."

Hazel stared at her in shock, then slowly smiled. "I never thought you two would actually happen. You've been crushing on him since you were eight. He's 22 now and never asked you out before… but now he did? I guess fate is finally on your side."

Dior shrugged shyly. "We're not a thing yet. It's just a date. I'll think about what to wear."

"You don't have to worry," Hazel said confidently. "I'll help you."

Dior smiled. "And I'll cook tonight."

"Perfect. Then I'll go feed Mr. Golden and play with him. If you need anything, call me."

"Sure."

As Hazel walked away, Dior sat quietly for a moment, her heart still racing.

Tomorrow…

might just change everything.
