Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Confessions Between Best Friends

"So… what are you wearing tomorrow?" Hazel asked as they switched legs, stretching the other side.

Dior shrugged slightly. "Hmm… I don't know yet. I'm still thinking about it."

There was a brief pause before Dior suddenly smirked. "So… have you guys already done it?"

Hazel froze for a second, then slowly lowered her leg before switching to the other stretch.

She didn't like lying.

"…Yes."

Dior's eyes widened. "Wow. I didn't expect it to happen that fast. So… how did it feel?"

Hazel hesitated, then answered honestly. "It was painful at first… but then it turned into something else."

Dior nodded knowingly. "Yeah… I get you."

Hazel blinked. "Wait—you've done it before?"

"Yeah… maybe three or four times," Dior said casually.

They both grabbed a chair and lifted one leg onto it, stretching until it reached waist height.

"With who?" Hazel asked.

Dior sighed softly. "Back when I was in a serious relationship… with Felix."

Hazel nodded slowly. "Oh… Felix. It's a shame he had to move away. You two would probably still be together."

"Yeah," Dior said, her expression darkening slightly. "He's a jerk. Breaking up with me just because he was moving to another country… like he wasn't coming back."

Hazel frowned. "But you never told me… when did all that happen?"

Dior let out a quiet breath. "It was about two years ago. The first time wasn't even my choice—his friend spiked his drink. The second time… it was actually romantic. And the third…" she paused, her jaw tightening, "was a farewell."

Hazel went silent.

"That's why I'm still mad," Dior continued. "Sleeping with me, then the next morning telling me we're done. Calling it a 'farewell.' I mean… he could've just said goodbye instead."

They switched legs again, bending slightly so their stretches curved properly.

"No wonder you were so angry," Hazel said softly. "Deleting his contact… burning everything you had together…"

"Yeah," Dior replied. "Even though it's been over a year and a half… I still can't get over him."

She looked down for a moment.

"Anyone who confesses to me, I either reject them… or just agree to a date without meaning it."

She paused, then spoke more quietly.

"I keep thinking… maybe one day he'll come back and apologize. Maybe we'll get back together. He's the only one who ever made my heart feel that way."

Hazel watched her closely.

"I didn't delete his number," Dior added. "It's still there. I just… can't bring myself to do it."

"Do you still love him?" Hazel asked gently.

"…Yeah," Dior admitted. "I do."

Hazel exhaled slowly. "Then what about my cousin? Do you love him… or is it just a crush?"

Dior bit her lip slightly.

"That's the problem," she said. "I like your cousin… but for some reason, I still love Felix. Even during practice today, while Samantha was talking… I was thinking about him."

She shook her head.

"My heart still wants him. Maybe what I feel for your cousin is just a crush… I just hope… maybe he can replace Felix someday."

They both lowered their legs, finishing the stretch.

Hazel smiled faintly. "I understand how you feel. It's the same with me and Liam… I'm scared he might leave me."

Dior looked at her and smiled reassuringly. "I'm sure he loves you. He won't leave or break your heart."

"I hope so," Hazel said quietly.

There was a small silence between them.

"Have you ever tried calling Felix?" Hazel asked.

Dior shook her head. "No. I blocked him."

"Hmm…"

They both straightened up, rolling their shoulders slightly after the stretch.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then Hazel clapped her hands lightly. "Okay, enough emotional talk before we start crying in the middle of the studio."

Dior let out a small laugh. "Seriously. My makeup would be ruined."

Hazel smirked. "Exactly. And you know you can't afford that right now… especially with your date tomorrow."

Dior's cheeks flushed slightly. "It's not a date-date… it's just—"

"It's a date," Hazel cut in, raising a brow.

Dior sighed, giving up. "Fine… it's a date."

Hazel folded her arms, tilting her head. "So now back to the real question—what are you wearing?"

Dior tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Hmm… something simple but eye-catching. I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard."

Hazel nodded. "Good. Keep it natural… but still make him regret breathing around you."

Dior burst out laughing. "You're terrible."

"I'm serious," Hazel said with a small grin. "Men should suffer a little."

Dior shook her head, still smiling. "What about you? If Liam suddenly shows up, what are you wearing?"

Hazel froze for a second… then looked away.

"…Anything decent."

Dior narrowed her eyes. "Liar."

"I'm not lying."

"You are," Dior said, stepping closer. "You care about what he thinks."

Hazel didn't respond immediately. Instead, she bent down to pick up her water bottle.

"…Maybe a little."

Dior smiled knowingly. "Exactly."

Hazel took a sip, then looked back at her. "Anyway, forget me. Focus on your date. Just… don't confuse your feelings."

Dior's smile faded slightly.

"I know," she said quietly. "I won't."

But even as she said it… her eyes drifted for a second, distant—like she was thinking of someone else.

Felix.

Hazel noticed… but didn't say anything.

Instead, she nudged her lightly. "Come on. If we're done here, let's go to the jewelry shop before it gets late."

Dior blinked, snapping back to reality. "Oh—right. The necklace."

Hazel smirked. "Your precious Lisa necklace."

"Don't start," Dior warned, grabbing her bag.

Hazel laughed as she picked up her things too. "I'm just saying… you better wear it tomorrow."

"I will," Dior replied confidently. "It's going to complete my outfit."

"Good," Hazel said as they started heading toward the exit. "Because if you waste over $200,000 jewelry, I'm disowning you as my best friend."

Dior scoffed. "Please, you love me too much for that."

Hazel didn't deny it.

They stepped out of the studio together, the evening air hitting their skin softly.

Neither of them noticed how heavy their hearts still were—

One thinking about a man she couldn't forget.

The other afraid of losing the one she just found.

And somewhere in between…

A new story was already beginning.
