Chapter 159 - Mutants from the Main Universe?

Of course, all of this was just Peter's speculation.

Even if it made sense, a guess was still just a guess.

Even if it was 99% accurate, it was only "infinitely close to the truth."

As for that 1%...

Only by getting Dr. Foster's direct confirmation could it be filled in.

Unfortunately, Dr. Foster had kept something hidden at the time, and hadn't recorded it in the experiment logs.

If it weren't for Peter's evolved Spider-Sense, he really wouldn't have discovered this!

Dr. Foster's actions were quite secretive.

Although he frequently purchased some experimental equipment, he always rented a temporary warehouse and then transported it in batches.

It felt like he was doing something shady.

If it were just scientific research, it shouldn't have gone this far.

Oh!

He understood!

It was definitely because Bill Foster's so-called scientific research was actually "replicating" Hank Pym's device.

That's why he was so secretive and didn't dare to make this public.

Because, well, it's called replication if you want to be nice about it, but if you want to be blunt, it's plagiarism.

Plagiarism is the most shameful behavior in academia.

Why else would they be so strict about plagiarism checks in papers?

Once exposed, Bill Foster would not only be disgraced but could even face imprisonment!

Thinking this, Peter silently labeled Bill Foster as a "despicable plagiarist."

However, no matter how covert Bill Foster's actions were, in the face of a super artificial intelligence, and one with the vast database of Stark Industries and the Avengers as its backing, everything about Bill Foster was an open secret to Friday.

In a short while, Friday located three places that were highly likely to be Bill Foster's labs.

The first was an abandoned factory on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Bill Foster often used this factory to store materials he had purchased.

And Peter, preconditioned by the thought that Bill Foster was researching quantum physics, couldn't help but think of Kingpin's super particle collider.

The scene... tsk tsk.

Actually, if Kingpin had set up his super particle collider in the middle of nowhere, Amazing Spider-Man wouldn't have bothered to stop him.

Because even if it blew up, it would just be his own stuff, not endangering anyone else.

Peter had spent a few days with Bill Foster and had a bit of an understanding of his character.

He might have been suspected of plagiarizing Hank Pym's research, but he wasn't inherently bad. He wouldn't joke around with the lives of innocent people.

So, putting the lab in the middle of nowhere doesn't seem that strange, after all.

Peter had installed a tracker on him.

After getting off the plane, Bill Foster hailed a taxi, and judging by the taxi's route, he was also heading in this direction.

Peter found a place to take off his suit and hailed another taxi.

He decided not to follow Bill Foster and instead head directly towards the three targets Friday had locked onto.

As for why he wasn't openly tracking... He, Spider-Man, wasn't exactly a nobody anymore.

Even though this was another city, not an area he frequented.

If he was just wandering around on the streets, he might still attract attention and then Bill Foster would know he was being followed by Spider-Man.

That's a waste of time! Why bother tailing him?

Before long, Peter arrived at the abandoned factory.

\n\n

However, after looking around, he realized it really was just an abandoned factory.

\n\n

There was a lock on the door, and a few shipping containers inside.

\n\n

Judging from the tracks on the ground, people and vehicles occasionally came and went.

\n\n

Based on the forensic knowledge he'd gained from Shadow Spider-Man, this place was likely just a material transfer point for Bill Foster. Furthermore, it was used to transfer materials that weren't easily obtained through legal channels.

\n\n

Peter quickly left.

\n\n

The second location was Bill Foster's home.

\n\n

It was strange, really.

His home was actually a place somewhat similar to a converted abandoned warehouse.

It was also located in a place near the suburbs of Los Angeles.

To be precise, it was an old apartment building.

Bill Foster's home was in this apartment building, and he also rented the basement of the apartment building.

Living alone, it didn't seem necessary to rent such a large place.

This was also a point of suspicion.

Peter got out of the car and, with his skilled abilities, quickly sneaked inside.

This basement was indeed Bill Foster's laboratory!

The not-so-large basement contained a tunnel-like instrument, a transparent chamber, and several computers with decent configurations.

Bill Foster hadn't returned, but the lights in the basement were on.

As Peter was looking around, his Spider-Sense suddenly tingled.

It wasn't intense, just a warning of an incoming attack, but the attack wasn't a significant threat to him.

Peter turned around and took a defensive stance.

A figure, entirely white, abruptly appeared behind him and was about to strike his neck with a knife hand.

Peter's backhand block just managed to intercept the attack.

But what puzzled Peter was that his Spider-Sense warning hadn't disappeared?

Whoosh!

The white figure's attacking arm suddenly flickered, and then, unbelievably, it passed right through Peter's arm, becoming solid again to land a heavy blow on Peter's side.

"Huh?" Peter looked down at his side in confusion.

The white figure looked up at Peter, seemingly shocked that Peter had taken her attack head-on without flinching.

In the next moment, she quickly retracted her hand and swept a leg towards Peter.

Peter was puzzled by what had happened just now, but based on his Spider-Sense, this attack didn't seem very threatening.

So, he reached out again to grab the long, powerful leg.

Whoosh!

The strange scene repeated itself.

The leg turned ethereal as it made contact with Peter's hand.

After passing through Peter's hand, it solidified again, striking him on the other side of his waist.

"What kind of strange ability is that? Are you a Mutant?" Peter wondered, puzzled.

The ability of the woman in the strange white suit in front of him naturally reminded him of the Mutants he had seen in the Amazing Spider-Man world.

It seemed only Mutants possessed such peculiar abilities.

"What's a Mutant?" The white figure, having realized her attacks were like tickling Peter, paused her assault.

"Well, they're a special kind of human who are born with very strange abilities. I've seen people who can control metal, people with claws that come out of their hands, people who can shoot lasers from their eyes, people who can control ice, and people who can read minds," Peter explained.

The white figure shook her head. "I'm not a Mutant. I acquired my abilities later."
