Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : The unexpected proposal

Aurora stood in front of the mirror, smoothing out her dress. She had always known that her life would be one of duty and obligation, but she had never imagined it would come to this. Her parents had arranged for her to meet with Kael, the heir to the Dark Lord's lineage, and she had been told that their marriage would secure a powerful alliance between their families.

As she made her way to the meeting room, Aurora's heart pounded in her chest. She had heard stories about Kael's powers and his reputation for being ruthless and merciless. What would it be like to be married to someone like him? She wondered.

When she entered the room, Kael was already seated, his piercing eyes fixed on her. He was even more handsome than she had expected, with chiseled features and jet-black hair. But there was something about him that made her feel uneasy, like he was hiding secrets behind those intense eyes.

Aurora, he said, his deep voice sending shivers down her spine. It's a pleasure to meet you.

Aurora forced a smile and took her seat across from him. She didn't know what to say, so she only nodded. "Don't be scared, I don't bite" he said to her.

Kael tried to initiate a conversation with her even though it was tilted at first, but as they talked, she began to loosen up abit. "Maybe he isn't as scary " she thought.

As the meeting drew to a close, Kael leaned forward and fixed her with an intense stare. "I believe we would make a suitable pair," he said. "Will you accept my proposal, Aurora?"

Aurora's heart skipped a beat. She knew that this decision would change her life forever. But what choice did she have? She nodded, and Kael's eyes seemed to gleam with satisfaction.

"I'll send for you soon," he said, his voice low and husky. "Be prepared."

As she left the room, Aurora couldn't shake off the feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't imagine. The weight of her parents' expectations and the mysterious allure of Kael's presence lingered in her mind.

She made her way back to her chambers, lost in thought. The silence of the hallway was a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing inside her. Aurora's hand instinctively went to her engagement ring, the cold metal a tangible reminder of the commitment she had just made.

Kael's gaze lingered on the door, his mind replaying their conversation. He had expected a dutiful, obedient bride, but Aurora's spark and determination had caught him off guard.
