I woke up to the sound of Elara gently opening the curtains, letting the morning sunlight flood my bedchamber. I stretched, feeling the softness of the bed beneath me.
"Good morning, milady," Elara said with a warm smile. "Today's a big day. You're scheduled to practice swordsmanship with your brothers."
I sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. "Good morning, Elara. I'm not looking forward to it, but I suppose it's part of being a princess."
As Elara helped me get dressed, I couldn't help but think about my upcoming marriage to Kael, the prince from the Kingdom of Tenebrous. I had seen him briefly when he came to our estate, and I had to admit, I was intrigued by his dark, brooding gaze and chiseled features.
"Elara, what do you think of Prince Kael?" I asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
Elara smiled knowingly. "He's quite handsome, milady. And the rumors about his bravery in battle are impressive."
I blushed, feeling a little shy. "I suppose he is handsome. But I'm more concerned about getting to know him as a person."
Elara nodded. "That's wise, milady. Marriage is about more than just looks."
As we finished getting ready, I headed to the training grounds where my brothers were already waiting. Edward and Lucas were sparring, their swords clashing in a rhythmic dance.
"Good morning, sis!" Edward called out, grinning. "Ready to show us your skills?"
I nodded, picking up my sword. "Let's get started."
The training session was intense, with my brothers pushing me to my limits. But I held my own, using the techniques our instructor had taught me.
Afterward, we took a break, sitting under a shaded area to catch our breath.
"You're getting better, Aurora," Lucas said, his expression serious. "But you need to work on your footwork."
I nodded, taking his criticism to heart. "I'll practice more. I don't want to embarrass myself in front of Prince Kael."
Edward chuckled. "Don't worry, sis. We'll make sure you're prepared for whatever comes next."
Lucas nodded in agreement. "Yes, and you'll need to be strong and capable when you're queen."
I smiled, feeling a sense of determination. I would do whatever it took to be a good queen and make my family proud.
As we finished our training, I felt a sense of accomplishment. Being a princess didn't just mean attending balls and parties; it meant being strong and capable, too.
"Thanks, guys," I said, smiling at my brothers. "I feel like I'm getting the hang of it."
Lucas nodded. "You're doing well. Just remember, a princess's duty is not just to herself, but to her kingdom."
I nodded, knowing that he was right. Being a princess came with great responsibility, and I was determined to do my best.
I walked back to my chambers, feeling a mix of emotions after the training session with my brothers. As I entered my room, I saw my mother, Queen Sophia, sitting on a chair by the window, looking out at the gardens.
"Aurora, dear, how was your training session?" she asked, turning to face me.
"It was good, Mother," I replied, sitting down beside her. "My brothers are pushing me to be my best."
Queen Sophia smiled, her eyes filled with warmth. "I'm proud of you, Aurora. You're growing into a strong and capable young woman."
We sat in comfortable silence for a moment, enjoying each other's company. Then Queen Sophia spoke up, her voice tinged with nostalgia.
"Do you remember when you were little, Aurora? You used to run around the palace gardens, laughing and playing with your brothers. You were always so full of energy and joy."
I smiled, memories flooding back. "Yes, Mother, I remember. Those were the best days of my life."
Queen Sophia's expression turned melancholic. "You're growing up, Aurora. Getting married and leaving us. It's hard for me to see my little girl become a woman."
I reached out and took her hand, feeling a surge of love and affection for my mother. "I'll always be your daughter, Mother. And I'll come back to visit often."
Queen Sophia squeezed my hand. "I know, dear. But it won't be the same. You'll be building a new life with Prince Kael, in a new kingdom. I'll miss you so much."
I felt a pang of sadness, knowing that my mother was right. I would be leaving behind everything I knew and loved. But I was also excited for the new adventures that lay ahead.
"Mother, I'll always cherish the memories we made here," I said, trying to reassure her. "And I'll make sure to stay in touch."
Queen Sophia smiled, her eyes shining with tears. "I know you will, dear. You're a good daughter."
We sat together in silence for a moment, enjoying each other's company and the warmth of the moment. Then Queen Sophia stood up, her expression determined.
"Let's get ready for lunch, Aurora. Your father will be expecting us."
I nodded, standing up and smoothing out my dress. I was looking forward to spending time with my family and enjoying the company of those I loved.
