Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 : Aurora’s POV

As I sat in my chambers, surrounded by the familiar comforts of home, my mind wandered to the life I was about to leave behind. My mother, who had always been my rock, my confidante, and my best friend. I would miss her dearly. The thought of being apart from her, of not being able to share my daily struggles and triumphs with her, filled me with a deep sadness.

And then there was Zanie, my partner in crime, my partner in laughter, and my partner in adventure. We had grown up together, sharing secrets and dreams. I would miss her bubbly personality and her unwavering support.

But I wouldn't be alone in this new chapter of my life. My maid, Elara, would be accompanying me to Kael's estate. She had been with me since childhood, and I trusted her implicitly. She knew me better than anyone, except perhaps my mother.

As I thought about my upcoming marriage, my mind was filled with questions and doubts. What would life be like with Kael? Would he be kind to me? Would we grow to love each other?

But there was something else that weighed heavily on my mind. My secret. My ability to read minds. It was a power I had kept hidden from everyone, except Elara. She was the only one who knew, and she had sworn to keep my secret safe.

As I thought about Kael, I realized that there was something peculiar about him. I couldn't read his mind. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't penetrate the walls he had built around his thoughts. It was both intriguing and unsettling.

I wondered what secrets he might be hiding behind those piercing eyes. What was he thinking about our marriage? Did he truly want to marry me, or was this just a strategic move for him? Was it solely for the alliance our families would form, or did he hope to build something more meaningful with me? Did he see me as a partner, a friend, or just a pawn in his game of power?

The fact that I couldn't read his mind only added to the mystery. I was used to knowing what people thought, what they wanted, and what they feared. But with Kael, I was left in the dark.

Elara, sensing my unease, placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "You'll figure it out, my lady," she said softly. "And I'll be right by your side every step of the way."

Just then, my mother walked into the room, a warm smile on her face. "Aurora, my dear, I couldn't help but notice that you seem a bit lost in thought," she said, sitting down beside me. "Are you feeling anxious about the wedding?"

I nodded, feeling a lump form in my throat. "I just don't know what to expect, Mother. I don't know if Kael truly wants to marry me, or if this is just about the alliance."

My mother took my hand in hers. "Aurora, I know that this marriage may seem daunting, but I have faith in you. You are strong, intelligent, and kind. Whatever Kael's motivations may be, I am sure that you will navigate this new chapter of your life with grace and dignity."

I smiled, feeling a sense of comfort wash over me. My mother's words were exactly what I needed to hear.

With renewed determination, I stood up, ready to face whatever lay ahead. Elara handed me my cloak, and together, we prepared to leave for Kael's estate, and the life that awaited me.

As we made our way out, I couldn't shake off the feeling that my life was about to change in ways I couldn't yet imagine. But with Elara by my side and my mother's words of encouragement ringing in my ears, I felt a sense of hope and anticipation for the future.
