Seeing Nami take the initiative to attack, Arlong knew his previous threats were useless. He bellowed, "Use seawater! It can hit her! Everyone, attack together!" Seawater was the bane of all Devil Fruit users, Logia types included.
"Kill her!!"
"Nami, you traitorous wench!!"
"Roooaaaar!!!"
A cacophony of bestial cries erupted as the fish-men began slapping and hurling water from the surrounding pools toward Nami. In their eyes, she was just a clown they had tormented for years. What right did she have to stand against them now?!
"Lightning Strike!"
Nami's voice was ice-cold. With a downward sweep of her hand, silvery bolts of lightning rained from the clear sky above.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Thick arcs of electricity struck the fish-men charging at her without warning. The weaker ones were electrocuted instantly, their eyes rolling back as they floated, bellies-up, in the water.
"Arlong! Eight years of pain... I'm returning every bit of it to you today!!!"
"ALL OF YOU, JUST DIE!!!"
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
A dense storm of lightning enveloped the entirety of Arlong Park, sealing off any escape and beginning an indiscriminate, area-wide assault.
"Captain, save me!!!"
"Holy—, run!!!"
Under Nami's control, the silvery lightning weaved through the park like vengeful serpents, hunting down and ending the lives of one fish-man after another. Piercing, agonized screams echoed over the park.
The tremendous noise drew the attention of the villagers of Cocoyasi Village. When they saw the terrifying spectacle, their eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated disbelief.
That person was... Nami?!
Arlong Park had been transformed into a slaughterhouse for fish-men. In mere moments, over half of them had been slain by the lightning. Against this heaven-sent calamity, these fish-men had no power to resist.
"Not enough! It's still not enough!!" Nami's eyes were filled with a cold, detached fury. Ignoring the strain, she increased her output once more.
KRAKOOM!
KRAKOOM!
Bolts of lightning as thick as bowls slammed down. The structures within Arlong Park began to collapse one after another, sending clouds of dust into the air. The remaining fish-men, their will to fight utterly broken, could only scramble for their lives. Some of the unluckier ones were crushed flat by the falling debris.
"It seems Nami is truly angry," Makino murmured aboard the Going Merry, watching the scene below with Kaya. It was the first time they had seen Nami so violently, brutally fierce.
"Let her vent properly," Leo said, his voice understanding. He knew exactly what she was feeling. Eight years of pent-up hatred needed to be released today.
Under the continuous lightning barrage, Arlong Park was completely reduced to ruins. Curious villagers, drawn by the noise, gathered cautiously outside the shattered main gate.
Nami's face was flushed, her breathing slightly ragged. After a few more minutes, the lightning ceased as abruptly as it had begun. Silence fell, blanketing the scorched, blackened earth.
"Arlong! Get out here!!!" Nami shouted, most of her attention focused on sensing him. She knew he wasn't dead.
Cough... Cough...
A fit of coughing came from a pile of rubble.
"NAMI!!!!"
A voice filled with hellish resentment rang out. The next second, Arlong shoved the debris pinning him aside and crawled out, a picture of utter狼狈 (wretchedness). His eyes were bloodshot, and the serrated saw-shape of his nose was broken off halfway. Though he had侥幸 (miraculously) survived the sustained lightning assault, he was grievously wounded.
"Hehehe... Arlong. Your vitality is as tenacious as a cockroach's," Nami's mocking voice reached him. "Your crewmates are all dead. Only you are left."
Arlong breathed heavily, the sound ragged. As the dust settled, he looked upon the ruins around him. His crew, his fish-men brothers, were all dead. Most had been electrocuted; a few had been crushed by collapsing buildings. Even little Hachi in the pool hadn't escaped his fate. Now, only he remained, clinging to the last dregs of life.
"NAMI!!!"
"YOU SHOULD DIE!!!"
Arlong roared, his voice tearing at the sky, his eyes wide with fury.
Nami walked toward him, her face an emotionless mask, a sneer curling her lips. "Arlong, the pain you're feeling now isn't even a fraction of what I endured!"
"Lightning Lance!"
A spear of highly condensed lightning materialized in her hand, its crackling tip aimed directly at Arlong.
"NAMI, I'LL KILL YOU!!!" Knowing escape was impossible, Arlung roared with final defiance and charged at her with his last ounce of strength.
A cruel, cold smile appeared on Nami's face. Without a shred of mercy, she hurled the Lightning Lance.
SWOOSH—
It tore through the air with a sharp sound, piercing through Arlong's body in an instant. The tremendous electrical energy flooded into him, savagely destroying his internal functions from within. Completely drained, Arlong could no longer support himself. He collapsed heavily into a pool of his own blood, his body convulsing, clinging to the very last vestiges of life by a thread.
Nami stepped forward slowly, looking down at him from above.
Like a Thunder Queen gazing down upon an insignificant ant.
"Arlong. Look at your pitiful state now."
Arlong could no longer speak, but he still fixed Nami with a gaze full of pure, undiluted venom.
"When you get to the underworld, apologize to my mother. Apologize to every single person you murdered." Nami raised her palm. Terrifying lightning energy gathered once more.
With a final, definitive BOOM, Arlong's head exploded.
Staring at the thoroughly, unquestionably dead Arlong, Nami felt a wave of dizziness, of unreality.
Had she really done this?
The man she had once seen as an invincible monster... was truly dead by her hand.
Crack.
It felt as if some internal shackle within her heart had finally shattered.
Coming back to herself, Nami looked up at the sky and whispered, "Mother... I've killed Arlong. You can rest in peace now."
At that moment, Leo, with Kaya and Makino, descended gracefully from above. The Going Merry remained aloft, held up by the Island Cloud.
Leo walked to Nami's side and gently pulled her into an embrace. "It's over," he said softly.
Nami nodded heavily, her eyes filled with immense gratitude as she looked at him. Meeting Leo was the greatest fortune of her life. He had given her a new beginning.
"Leo, let me show you my home. My sister will be so happy to know Arlong is dead," Nami said, actively taking his hand.
Leo smiled but shook his head. "Not so fast. There's one last rat to deal with."
His voice turned cold as steel as he raised it, aimed at a pile of rubble where frantic scraping sounds could be heard.
"Get out here!!"
