Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The 'I'll Eat My Words' Scene 1

"What?" Roman gasped. "That's insane. You bring us to a completely foreign country and tell us to rob the biggest drug lord here? I thought this was a legitimate business!"

"To me, this sounds like a personal vendetta," Roman continued after a pause. "I'm not a coward, but personal vendettas are bad news. There's no way I'm doing this!"

With that, Roman turned around to leave.

As to whether he was scared or simply felt that a personal vendetta wasn't a good thing… you could tell from his excuse that he "thought it was a legitimate business."

Simply put, these people never did any legitimate business.

Morin had already taken out his phone and started recording Roman the moment he started talking.

How could he not record such a classic scene?

"We're talking about a hundred million dollars," Toretto said without turning around.

"..." Roman stopped in his tracks, as if a rope labeled "ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS" was pulling him back.

Without a moment's hesitation, Roman completely disregarded his pride and turned back, asking, "What did you say? One, one hundred million dollars?"

"You see, sometimes I'm too cautious. After all, we just met," Roman said, walking back. "What did you just say was…"

Pride? What's that? As long as there's enough money, pride is something that can be thrown away at any time!

Morin was satisfied with his recording and put away his phone. He renamed the file "The 'I'll Eat My Words' Scene 1."

There would be more "I'll Eat My Words" scenes in the future, of course, after Morin went to other worlds.

After this mercenary job, Morin could upgrade his Intermediate Auto Mechanic title to Advanced and get a chance to open up another world.

Even though Morin was living a great life in the Fast & Furious world, achieving the goal of being a multi-millionaire that he only dared to dream about in his previous life, he knew this wasn't the end, but only the beginning.

As for recording some of the interesting experiences along the way, that was Morin's idea so he could look back on them later.

"One hundred million dollars. We split everything equally," Toretto replied to Roman.

"So, each of us gets ten million?" Tej asked, counting the people around. "I'm in."

"No, each of you gets eleven million… wait, a little less than that," Morin interrupted. "I won't be participating in your operation. I'm just providing you with the cars and modifications. My share is just the cost of these cars and my labor, which is less than two million dollars."

[Top-of-the-line supercars were about two hundred thousand dollars each in those days.]

"Whoa, dude, you're not joining?" Roman, who had just eaten his words, said in surprise. "Less than two million versus ten million—that's not even a choice! And who gave you the confidence to think your car modification skills are that good…"

"Roman!" O'Conner quickly interrupted. "I'm sorry, Morin, he doesn't know about your skills."

"It's fine. The cars you build yourselves are good enough, and you could just get them from somewhere else, but with me, I can provide you with higher-grade parts and technical support," Morin said, completely unfazed by Roman's trash talk.

He wasn't that petty. Besides… he could always just send that 'I'll Eat My Words' video to everyone here!

I, Morin, am a generous man!

"As for your ten million dollars…" Morin said, looking at Roman with a sly smile. "I don't really need it."

"What?" Roman was confused. "Why?"

"Because the guy standing in front of you is a multi-millionaire," Toretto said, interrupting him in a frustrated tone. "Ten million dollars really isn't much to him."

"What?!!" Roman was completely dumbfounded.

But this time, Roman wasn't the only one who was stunned.

...

"So, you're a multi-millionaire?" After they finished discussing the plan, they needed some time to prepare.

Morin was about to go pick up the cars and parts that he had shipped over and invited Gisele to come along.

Gisele, who was now curious about Morin, agreed. In the car, she asked, "Is that true?"

"Yeah," Morin said, starting the car and heading toward his destination. "Why? Don't I look like one?"

"No, no, you do look like one," Gisele said, shaking her head. "It's just that I'm curious about…"

"Why a man like me has such a good relationship with Toretto and his crew, and why I have so much money while they're struggling?" Morin said with a smile.

"Yeah…" Gisele found that Morin had just said everything she was going to ask, so she just nodded.

"A few years ago, I had just arrived in the U.S. and didn't even have enough to eat. At that time, with my decent skills and an auto mechanic license, Toretto helped me out, and that's how I got to where I am today," Morin said.

"But, even though Toretto and I have a great relationship, we have a fundamental difference… I will never do anything illegal. At least, I won't willingly do anything illegal unless it's absolutely necessary."

"Toretto and his crew are different from me. They were born with a kind of… adventurous spirit. I tried to get them jobs, but they all turned me down. He said he wanted to rely on himself," Morin said, thinking for a moment and using the word "adventurous."

In other words, they couldn't settle down and were always looking for excitement. The street racers naturally fit this description. Otherwise, if they had just worked with Morin, Toretto and his crew wouldn't have ended up in this situation.

"I just let them do what they want. I'm not going to force them, and I can't," Morin shrugged. "Of course, if they really need my help, I'll help them. Their escape a few years ago, and providing them with these cars now, are things I should do, and I've done them."

"I think you have another motive," Gisele suddenly said. "One of the reasons you don't want to get involved in illegal activities is to give them a safety net when they have nowhere else to go, isn't it?"

"Hahaha," Morin laughed. "I love a smart woman like you! It saves a lot of trouble talking to you!"

"That depends on whether you're capable enough," Gisele said, raising an eyebrow.

"I think I am," Morin said, stomping on the gas and letting go of the steering wheel. He turned his head to look at Gisele, not even glancing at the road ahead.

The engine roared, the fuel ignited, pushing the precise machine in a wild motion, creating a huge thrust. The tires' strong grip prevented the car from spinning out, and it shot forward like an arrow.
