Chapter 1 - Prologue

The sound of church bells filled the air. Rays of light poured through the stained glass windows as we stood before the altar, hand in hand. The world seemed perfect, timeless.

"Do you take her as your lawfully wedded wife?"

"I do."

"Do you take him as your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do."

The vows were sealed, our future set in stone.

In the very moment our voices joined as one, the heavens cracked. A deafening roar shook the church, followed by blinding light tearing through the roof.

A meteor descended.

Screams filled the hall. The last thing I remember was pulling her close, vowing silently: I won't let go. Not even in death.

When I opened my eyes, the world was no longer the church we once stood in. Towering trees stretched to the sky, the scent of soil and leaves surrounding us.

Beside me, she stirred—alive, though her wedding dress now glimmered faintly with a strange aura.

And before us stood an old man in tattered robes, leaning on a crooked staff. His voice trembled, not with fear, but with desperate hope.

"Heroes… at last, you have come. The Demon Lord awakens, and the nations march to war at each other. Please… lend us your strength."

I clenched my fists. If this was fate, then I would embrace it.

This time, I'll be the knight—the shield, the sword, the hero.

But destiny had other plans.

For in our first battle, I found myself chanting healing prayers, raising shimmering barriers… while my wife—my gentle, kind bride—stood at the frontlines, her blade wreathed in flames, cutting down monsters with the might of a queen.
