"This isn't my world. I can't go back…", Lin Li muttered to himself. Now, he didn't know how to face it.
He slumped to the ground, his pupils unfocused, his expression blank. No matter how many magical abilities there were in this world, how enviable it was, or how much good and evil it contained, none of it concerned him. He didn't belong to this world; he was from the real world, and this world was just a TV series.
Just like Eobard Thawne, now Dr. Wells, he was from the future and didn't belong here. All of this felt out of place, uncoordinated, and made one feel nauseous. It was a mental and psychological self-resistance; both he and this world were fundamentally rejecting him. He had originally only come to kill The Flash, and then leave. It was only because of the future The Flash's interference that he failed, forcing him to stay here, bitterly training The Flash, hoping to absorb enough Speed Force to return home.
Lin Li's situation was even more severe than Eobard Thawne's.
It was no longer a matter of worlds or universes.
The Flash was a TV series, a two-dimensional existence, a two-dimensional universe.
The two-dimensional universe had become a tangible three-dimensional universe because of his arrival. What about the original three-dimensional universe? He didn't know where it went; perhaps it disappeared, or perhaps it was overwritten.
What was even more terrifying was that he didn't want to speculate that he had become a person from a two-dimensional universe, believing that what he saw and felt here was a three-dimensional world.
Now his mind was a mess, and he didn't know what to do.
"Kid, where exactly are you from? Why were you in the Central City Police Department lab that night?"
A tall, middle-aged Black man walked in, sporting a beard that encircled his mouth.
Joe West, The Flash's adoptive father, who would become The Flash's father-in-law in the future, and a detective for the Central City Police Department, possessed extensive experience in combating criminals.
"Detective West, our Asian kid doesn't understand English."
Cisco joked.
Joe ignored Cisco and gestured to Dr. Wells, asking him to translate.
"Detective West, the patient has just regained consciousness, and his emotions are still unstable. I don't think questioning him now is a good idea."
Dr. Wells didn't translate but instead said to Joe.
Joe was displeased and said sternly, "Dr. Wells, when did interrogating a suspect become the police's responsibility?"
"Moreover, he might even be the culprit who caused Barry to be in bed, though Dr. Wells, you also share a good portion of the blame."
Dr. Wells said nothing.
He took off his glasses, rubbed his face with his left hand, and slowly let out a 'hoo' breath.
"How is Barry doing?"
Caitlin took over the conversation, understanding Barry's condition with just a quick glance.
Joe silently watched Barry, his expression sad. He had raised Barry for over a decade, treating him as his own, and now seeing that kind, lively, and intelligent handsome boy lying in a hospital bed, helpless, it was heartbreaking.
Joe didn't grieve for long; he quickly wiped away his tears, and his expression became resolute.
He took out handcuffs, grabbed Lin Li's hand, and cuffed him to the hospital bed.
"Hey! This isn't appropriate."
Dr. Wells exclaimed. This could severely impact the patient's emotions before he had fully recovered consciousness.
Cisco and Caitlin also looked at Joe West with concern.
"To ensure he doesn't escape, this is the only way. You two keep an eye on him. Tomorrow, I'll apply for the paperwork, and he'll either be formally arrested or deported back home."
Joe said coldly. If he wasn't a police officer, he would have already laid hands on him. This behavior was already very mild.
After speaking, Joe walked away decisively.
Hearing the words 'back home,' Lin Li, who was cuffed to the hospital bed, was startled awake from his daze by Joe's actions.
'I want to go back!'
'Even if it takes a long time, I want to go back and see her, and finish the proposal that hasn't been completed yet.'
Once a person has a belief, infinite willpower will burst forth, advancing fearlessly against everything.
Lin Li's eyes gradually became determined. He wanted to go home; he had to go back. She was still waiting for him.
Looking around, Lin Li's gaze swept over the three people.
Caitlin Snow, bio-engineering expert, Killer Frost.
Cisco Ramon, physics genius, inventor, Vibe.
Harrison Wells, impersonated by Eobard Thawne, 25th-century Reverse-Flash.
Finally, his gaze settled on Dr. Wells.
"Dr. Wells, this isn't my world. I want to go back. Please help me."
Lin Li had watched The Flash TV series. In the entire The Flash universe, if anyone could help him return to reality, it would probably only be two people: Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash. With the advanced technology of the 25th century and his research and utilization of the Speed Force, Lin Li might be able to use the Speed Force to return to reality.
It was only a possibility, because there was no such thing as the Speed Force in reality. This meant there was no link connecting to the real world. The only link was Lin Li himself; he had come from reality, and this was the sole connection.
Then there was Cisco, who awakened in the second season as Vibe, capable of traversing parallel worlds. He didn't know if reality would be a parallel world, but he decided to wait until Cisco awakened, then try using Vibe on himself to see if he could sense anything.
"Not your world?"
Dr. Wells lowered his head, slowly put on his glasses, and his eyes gleamed with a strange light.
"I was supposed to be on my way to propose to my girlfriend, but the weather suddenly changed. A black energy ball flew over my head, lightning struck the black energy ball, and the energy ball turned into a vortex, sucking me in…"
Lin Li briefly explained the reason. This was the truth, and he had no need to lie. Moreover, he wanted them to research how to go back. As long as it didn't involve Wells' plan to return to the future, Lin Li felt that this matter wasn't a big problem and there was no need to conceal it.
As long as he didn't reveal that Wells' plan would inevitably fail, Lin Li felt that everything else was completely controllable.
