Chapter 10 - Rules for the Kings

The five kings chosen for the event were unusually quiet for their personalities.

Aizen Sosuke, the gel king, was observing each and every king with hidden excitement and slight judgment. His usual confident smile was still there, but for someone who felt the loneliness of a pioneer, this event was something very interesting to him.

Frieza, the racist king, had his typical shit-eating grin as he looked at the other so-called kings.

"Kings? These monkeys qualify as kings? What a joke."

Frieza, at this point, had destroyed Planet Vegeta a few years back. He had not encountered Son Goku yet, and the Saiyan Prince Vegeta was still dancing around his palm. For him, the kings here were not worthy of being at the same level as himself.

Uchiha Madara, the dancing king, was unusually serious at the moment. He had just passed away in his own world and left his plans to Obito and Black Zetsu when the Nexus pulled him over. This was a new development that he had overlooked in his Tsuki no Me plan. He needed to check things out and figure out if his plans would be affected.

Meruem, the Ant King, was expressionless, but occasionally his gaze landed on Frieza with some surprise hovering in his face. His gaze was calm, and there was none of the condescending arrogance of the Ant King. After all, he was a dead man who had been given another chance by the Guild itself. For him, finding out about other "kings" and judging them felt exciting and extremely meaningful.

Doflamingo, on the other hand, kept his signature grin as he checked out the kings one by one. He had already been waiting for this moment for a while now. He was a natural-born king, but the past few years had seriously impacted his journey and his willingness to become the king he had wanted to be when he was young. To him, this event could become a beacon, illuminating his path that had long gone dark.

The five Guild Masters kept quiet and let the kings adjust for a while.

"Since it was your world that commissioned this event, you should take over from our side." Kitse looked at Nash and said with a slight smile.

"Tsk. Even after becoming a Titled Ranger, you are still a lazy bum."

Nash whined a little but still stood up and walked to the center of the stage.

His movement immediately drew the attention of the five kings, and they turned to look at the "organizer" of the event.

Baron Nash took a deep breath and started explaining the event.

"This is a rare conference-type mission, only commissioned by S-tier or higher-level members of the Guild. You might already have some guesses, but the purpose of this event is to serve as a guide for the king candidates around the world.

"All of you who have attended this event possess the qualifications to become a ruler, or a king in different ways. You may have fought tooth and nail to become a king, or you may have simply been born as one. But regardless of your origin, you have each faced challenges and trials in your life to stand where you are now.

"This event is a rare place where you can look back and reflect upon your journey while being judged by other like-minded king candidates.

"The Nexus will provide the information of each of your lives to the other kings, your birth, your growth, your trials, your challenges, your choices, and your breakthrough to the position of king.

"The information will be provided in turns for each king, and you will judge the other participants after each memory has been received. If the king being judged feels like the criticism is valid and would help him grow, he can give the other kings some 'Nexus Points'. At the end of the event, these points can be used to exchange for rewards that will be provided by the Nexus."

The information was quickly absorbed by the respective kings, and they each fell into silent contemplation.

"Guild Master. If our information is given to the other kings freely, won't it cause problems when future missions are conducted in our worlds?"

Aizen Sosuke asked instantly. He had just defected from Soul Society a few days back, and there were some serious schemes he had been cooking in the background. So, the complete information sharing was not something he was entirely comfortable with.

"No need to worry, Aizen-kun. The memories you receive during this event are temporary, and all the memories of the kings' lives will be wiped after the event is over."

The expressions of several kings changed as they heard Nash's expressionless voice about memory removal.

"Who will be first?" Nash asked them directly since no one said anything after.

Frieza looked as impatient as ever and let out a simple laugh.

"Hohoho. Then let me see how the little monkeys will judge my life."

His tone was arrogant, and the emphasis on the little monkeys was quite jarring even to the other kings.
