Chapter 9 - Conference of Kings

Meanwhile, Doflamingo had just returned from the Guild. His smile was even more vibrant, and one sentence from Kitse continued to echo over and over in his head.

'Right now, Garp-san can slaughter three of his old self without breaking a sweat.'

He returned to his throne in Dressrosa, and his smile slowly retreated from his face. Taking a deep breath, he took out the poster handed to him by the Guild Master.

NEXUS GUILD EVENT - CONFERENCE OF KINGS

EVENT DETAILS

Aizen Sosuke, an S-rank member of the Nexus Guild, has commissioned the Guild to hold a Conference of Kings. King-worthy candidates from different worlds can accept the mission and gather in the Nexus Guild through their Guild Masters.

This is a conference-style event where each King's life and path is judged and analyzed by the participants of the event.

'For all those who want to stand on the Throne of Heavens, I hope we will find something worthy by collaborating with each other.' - Aizen Sosuke.

REWARD

None

The Conference is an event intended for knowledge, observation, and the exchange of perspectives.

Attendance is voluntary.

------------------------

His fists clenched tightly as he remembered his conversation with Kitse about the mission.

Few days ago.

"Normally, I would assign a standard mission after someone joins the Guild. But I guess I can make an exception for you." Kitse's voice was still calm and polite. Even with Doflamingo's unusually creepy behavior, his tone and smile didn't change.

"Hmm?" Doflamingo was instantly intrigued. "What do you mean?"

Kitse took out a poster from the counter and handed it to him. The poster read "Conference of Kings" and emitted a certain charm that Doffy couldn't name.

"Originally, I had no intention of participating in this event. But I think this event suits you quite well."

Doflamingo read through the poster again and again, but he couldn't help but admit that this event seemed quite interesting to him.

'King-worthy candidates only? Judged and analyzed by other kings? Those who wish to stand at the Throne of Heavens, is it?'

"Why is there no reward for this event?" Doflamingo asked Kitse directly. After all, seeing that old coot's aura had already convinced Doflamingo to take this Guild and mission system very seriously.

"This kind of mission can be said to be tailor-made for someone like you. Even if there is no reward for it, I think you should take it."

"What do you mean?" Doflamingo asked.

"I will not say much, but as of now, four King-level attendees have already registered for it. Every King-level character develops a sense of loneliness and a sense of being misunderstood by the world. Ordinary people do not understand your ambitions, and the powerful people above you do not understand your obsession with the throne. Normally, King-level candidates will be crushed by the world's system, or their ambition will be snuffed out by the harshness of the world. For someone like that, to be able to see another king's life and make a judgment of their own is more powerful than any reward they can get."

Kitse's voice was solemn but terrifyingly calm as he delivered his judgment of these 'King-candidates,' and Doflamingo couldn't help but freeze after hearing those words.

Especially the part about King-level candidates being crushed by the world's system or having their ambition snuffed out by the harshness of the world.

After all, he himself had a very similar experience in his life.

It had already been three days since he had accepted the mission.

Today was the day the so-called "Conference of Kings" would start. Kitse had already told him he would be teleported to the event venue directly.

Swish!

Just as he was immersed in his thoughts, he felt his surroundings change, and he found himself at a wide circular table.

Including his own, there were five chairs surrounding a platform at the center.

Looking ahead, he found five people seated on the platform, and one of them was none other than Kitse. Meanwhile, four other people were seated in the chairs around the circular table.

One was a slender man with his black-brown hair slicked back. He was wearing a white coat, and a sword was sheathed at his waist. His aura was calm, and he had a peaceful smile on his face as he looked around.

Another was a small, pale creature with a white body covered in purple markings. He had a long tail curled behind him and a smug smile on his face as he looked around. His aura was cold and oppressive, and his eyes carried a sense of arrogance as he observed the others.

Next to him was a tall, muscular humanoid with green skin and a long black tail. He had sharp features and a pair of black horns on his head. His expression was calm and serious as he looked around, while his presence carried the quiet pressure of someone who was accustomed to standing above others.

Finally, the last one was a tall man with long, spiky black hair that reached down his back. He wore dark red armor over a dark-colored outfit, with a pair of gunbai strapped to his back. His expression was calm and stern as he looked around, and his eyes carried a quiet confidence that made it clear he feared nothing in the room.

Meanwhile, on the platform, the four Guild Masters were looking at Kitse like he was a ghost.

"B-Butcher Kitse?! You were redeployed?" Baron Nash, the Guild Master of the Bleach world, was aghast as he looked at Kitse.

"It's been a while, Nash. Looks like you are doing pretty good." Kitse's voice was calm, as if the outrage and fear in Nash's eyes were to be expected.

"Let's not waste much time. Our kings are waiting, after all."
