Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Wanda is Satisfied With Her Future Husband!

Pushing open the café door, Wanda stepped inside.

As described in the diary, her eyes went straight to the second row — the spot with the best sunlight.

There, she saw a tall, straight-backed figure that seemed unyielding even if the sky were to fall.

Bathed in the warm, multicolored light, his features weren't fully visible yet…

But whether it was the diary's influence or Su Che's own aura, Wanda felt an irresistibly mysterious magnetism surrounding him.

So this is my future husband from the parallel world…

A thought flashed through her mind.

A slight smile touched her lips.

She deliberately raised her voice as she led Pietro to the counter:

"Two lattes, please — one for me, and one for Pietro."

Not far away, Su Che was sipping his coffee, pondering what to write in his next diary entry,

when he heard that clear, deliberate voice: "Two lattes, please — one for me, and one for Pietro."

Almost instinctively, he turned to look.

There they were — two figures standing at the counter.

Though Wanda and Pietro were only fourteen and still carried the softness of youth,

Su Che recognized them instantly.

This was the young Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

No mistake.

The day had finally come.

Behind the counter, Natasha Romanoff smiled warmly at Wanda's crisp tone.

"Of course! Just a moment, please."

As she prepared their coffee, she watched Su Che from the corner of her eye.

Though she'd already witnessed Su Che's abilities days ago at the shooting range — and how he'd handled that "emergency" —

Natasha had held off final judgment until now.

Two days earlier, Nick Fury had informed her he'd sent agents to bring Wanda and Pietro from Sokovia.

Natasha had been waiting for this moment.

On one hand, bringing these two here meant letting Su Che meet people he "knew" —

Seeing his future wife (or girlfriend) might ease the stress and despair he'd described in his diary.

On the other hand, this was also her final test for Su Che, the superhero from another world.

If all went well, she decided, there would be no need for further tests.

They could begin preparing for the future — just as Su Che's diary had foretold.

She analyzed Su Che's expression and body language keenly:

The moment he heard Wanda's voice, he'd turned instinctively.

Upon seeing Wanda and Pietro, surprise — even astonishment — flashed in his eyes,

as if wondering why they were here.

There was excitement, but only briefly.

Then came pain… and longing.

That's the right reaction, Natasha thought.

After all, to Su Che, this was a parallel world.

The fourteen-year-old Wanda before him was not his Wanda.

The wife he knew had likely perished with his world.

Seeing this young version would naturally bring both nostalgia and anguish.

If he'd been overly excited or rushed over impulsively, that would have been acting.

But this… this was real.

Satisfied, Natasha gave a slight nod.

Three tests were enough:

First, her undercover job application at the café.

Second, the "emergency" during their trip to the shooting range.

And now, this.

Each was sudden, yet Su Che had reacted exactly as a true parallel-world hero should.

The assessment was over.

What felt natural to Natasha, however, felt deeply unsatisfying to Wanda.

Sure, her future parallel-world husband was handsome, magnetic,

with an intriguing depth in his eyes and a melancholy, prince-like charm…

But when he saw her, his expression kept shifting — yet he didn't come over!

Where was the dramatic, emotional reunion hug she'd seen in Sokovian TV dramas?

Well… she knew those shows were fake.

And his reaction was probably normal.

After all, this was her — well, her parallel-world future self's — husband.

Still, she had to admit: she was very satisfied!

Tall, handsome, mysterious, powerful — a superhero who could protect her and Pietro.

He far exceeded any standard she'd ever imagined.

Hehe…

At least she didn't have to worry about ending up with a greasy uncle!
