I was very excited when I saw Wanda and Pietro. Even though I've seen too much over my more than ten years as a superhero and have become extremely calm, the moment I saw Wanda, I was still a little unsettled.]
[She is very young and immature, but she still looks like her.]
[I know this is Wanda, the wife I've been thinking about day and night.]
[However, she is not the real her.]
Reading these lines in the diary, Wanda breathed a sigh of relief.
Thank goodness, thank goodness he didn't write too much… or any of those embarrassing plots, or I would've died of shame!
But seeing the words "she is not the real her," Wanda unconsciously pursed her lips.
Her mind drifted back to what she had seen during the day: that strikingly handsome, tough-looking man with a melancholic temperament and a faint sense of weathered wisdom between his brows.
He seemed incredibly mysterious yet deeply reassuring, sparking an irresistible desire in Wanda to learn more about Su Che.
And subconsciously, she had already decided that this was her future husband from the parallel world.
Seeing these words again, Wanda—still in her youth and prone to daydreaming—felt an inexplicable jealousy toward her parallel-world self.
"It's really nothing," Natasha said softly, having quietly observed Wanda's subtle reaction to the diary entry.
"You and his wife in his world are the same age. It's just that his world was destroyed. Even though you and that Wanda aren't the same person, I can tell that Su treats you differently."
"No matter what's written in the diary, he's seen too much to be easily shaken. Yet he was still unsettled the moment he saw you at Peach Blossom Forest Café."
"Plus, his world is gone. If he really has feelings for you, there's nothing wrong with that."
Hearing Natasha's words, Wanda pursed her lips slightly, then smiled. "Who cares if he's unsettled or not? He has nothing to do with me."
"I'm just reading this diary like a novel out of boredom. I don't care at all!"
Seeing Wanda's stubborn act, Natasha simply smiled and didn't press further.
Even though she'd spent her own youth in the Red Room, Natasha still understood what girls this age were thinking.
Wanda might act indifferent now, but if she really didn't care, she wouldn't have rushed to Peach Blossom Forest Café with Pietro the moment they arrived in New York.
Didn't she want to see what her parallel-world husband looked like?
But Natasha genuinely hoped Wanda and Su Che could be together in the future.
First, it could ease the anxiety and pressure in Su Che's heart.
Second, as Su Che's diary mentioned, this world's story hasn't truly begun yet.
We need a superhero like Su Che—with over a decade of Avengers experience and "knowledge of the future"!
Of course, if Wanda wasn't interested, that would be fine too.
Natasha didn't want to force Wanda into anything.
Otherwise, given Su Che's unusual affection for Wanda, it could easily backfire.
She turned her attention back to the diary.
Soon, the smile on Natasha's face faded, replaced by seriousness.
[On my way back, I was attacked in the parking lot.]
[At first, I didn't know who the attacker was. It wasn't until I killed them that I noticed their eyes were red, as if they were a mindless humanoid creature controlled by someone else.]
[Seeing this attacker, I had a bad feeling.]
[Sure enough, after investigating, I found something wrong. It's just like the group that once appeared in my world!]
[This is the first time I've thought of a person—or rather, a humanoid entity—Olivia Temple.]
[She is my greatest enemy in the parallel world, someone who's been entangled with me for over a decade.]
[I don't know where this Olivia Temple, nicknamed "Balrog," came from or which planet she's from.]
[But I know that every time this self-proclaimed "Messenger of God" appears, a group of evil people will be "infected" and turned into monsters who fear nothing and obey only her orders.]
[This attack on me didn't feel like an assassination. It was more like a greeting from Balrog Olivia Temple, the self-proclaimed Messenger of God.]
[Telling me that my old rival, who's been entangled with me for over a decade, has also come to this world.]
Reading this, Natasha's expression turned grave.
After a brief word to Wanda, she stepped aside and called Nick Fury.
As soon as the call connected, Natasha said directly, "Director, are you free?"
Addressing him as "Director" instead of "Nick" signaled that this was official business.
"Not yet. I'm also reading the newly updated diary," Nick Fury replied, having already locked down his office.
"I saw Su Che wrote that he was attacked on his way back."
"Unfortunately, we didn't have him under surveillance, so we missed the attack."
Indeed, Nick Fury hadn't sent anyone to follow or monitor Su Che.
Though it went against his usual methods, Su Che was a superhero with "over a decade of Avengers experience."
Sending someone to spy on him would almost certainly be discovered.
More importantly, after reading in Su Che's diary that S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn't safe, Nick Fury had grown wary.
Even if the idea seemed absurd, he had to investigate any potential threat.
If his suspicions were true, and someone he sent was discovered by "those" people, the consequences could be disastrous.
Most crucially, Nick Fury already saw Su Che as a hidden trump card.
With Carol far away in the vastness of space, Su Che could become one of his aces!
"Should I go to that parking lot now and investigate?" Natasha asked immediately.
"I'm only three blocks from Su's apartment. I can get there right away."
"Not for now. The more something involves Su or the future of our world, the more cautious we must be," Nick Fury said sternly, without hesitation.
"I've already sent Hill and a team over."
"For now, stay put. We'll decide after reading the rest of the diary."
"Also, how are the twins—Wanda and Pietro—doing?"
