Chapter 1 - Prologue I- The spare

A young man in his early twenties, or maybe a teenager in his twenties, was getting dressed by a middle-aged woman who helped him button up his shirt and fix his hair.

This was the first time he was in his brother's room. The room was so beautiful it was as if the two of them were living in different worlds while in the same house.

His mother's warm breath reminded him of how long it had been since she was this close to him.

It all started seven years ago, when he had presented as an omega.

On his fourteenth birthday, the expression his parents gave him made it seem as if some monster had vomited on him. They had begun raining curses on him, insults about being a disgusting male omega.

The irony of it all was that his mother was also an omega. He would have made peace with it if it meant that being a male omega was disgusting to his parents, but what was hurting him at that moment was that these very same parents had accepted his brother's secondary biology.

His brother Silas had also presented as an omega.

But his parents, who had turned him into a servant, accepted their younger son with so much love, telling the boy how beautiful he was and how he would one day get married to a rich alpha who would love him very well.

At this point, if he felt like he was not their son, he couldn't have been wrong.

"Make sure not to disgrace us," his father's deep voice brought him back to reality.

Looking at the mirror in front of him, his breath caught in his throat. His hair was perfectly styled and he looked like a second-generation wealthy family's son for the first time in seven years.

Levi was sent off to the car after a series of harsh warnings about embarrassing the family.

The car door closed, sucking away the air and leaving the soft noise from outside. Just before the driver pulled out of the gates, he sighted his brother in the rear mirror.

Silas had just walked out of the house.

He was hiding at home all along.

It was a setup which Levi's brain hadn't wanted to believe until now that he saw it.

A few days ago, he was called to come have dinner with them and it was right there that he found out that his brother had a graduation from his music school. They had even organized a ceremony which was held on Silas's birthday, celebrating the double joy.

During the dinner, his father hadn't really bothered to twist his words to make Levi look worthy of being sent away to the Sterling family to fulfill a marriage pact set by both families' grandparents.

He remembered seeing how spent his brother was, as if he had just had a mental breakdown. It meant that Silas never wanted to get married to the person in question.

They even went as far as to make a drama about Silas running away from home.

Levi dropped his hands onto his thighs and held back the tears. His nose felt so hot that it stung badly.

The car slowed down in front of a towering building. It was a skyscraper. The driver drove off immediately after Levi stepped out of the car.

Taking a deep breath, he walked in and his eyes widened at the amount of wealth this hotel carried. After being lost in wonder for a few seconds, he located the receptionist desk.

"Good day, sir, how may I help you?"

"I... I am here for, no, to meet Mr. Sterling."

"Okay, one moment," the woman smiled as she typed on her keyboard.

"Please have a seat," she raised her head as she gestured to the waiting chairs in the lobby.

Not long after, a man dressed in a suit and glasses walked in. He spoke a few words to the receptionist and turned to Levi. "Mr. Quinn?"

"Ah, yes. That's me," Levi turned to meet the man who was a professional, maybe an assistant or bodyguard.

"Follow me." Levi strode along and they went up the elevator. After a few moments, the elevator chimed.

Then the man slid a card to open the door to reveal a high-standard, minimalist mansion in the sky. It was as if the elevator led them to heaven. It was just too luxurious.

"Mr. Sterling would be with you shortly," the man's voice brought Levi back from his running thoughts.

Why would Silas refuse to marry a man with this amount of wealth? Or could it be a son who was not in his family's will? He was so sure it was like him.

He found a tablet on the table and he turned it on and quickly searched 'Mr. Sterling'.

The top results were the images of an extremely handsome man who was so huge and muscular that Levi couldn't guess his height.

The man was just too big that it was already giving him anxiety to imagine being in the same room with such a man. And to even have a conversation about mating with such a man...
