Klyde slowly opens his eyes, his vision a bit blurred. He looked onwards, seeing he was inside a glade with lush green and occasionally yellow trees around him. He moved his hands in front of him to see he still had his armour on, though his helmet was missing.
"Am I really… in another world…?"
—— Earlier ——
Klyde and his friend Mark were walking down a hallway, walls around them made out of gray metal. Their fetal footsteps echoing along the way.
They were wearing futuristic gray armor. Its bulk was at a medium, aside from the back. Each of their right hands had a blaster attached to it, as well as 2 swords on the hips.
The two reached the end of the hallway, stopping in front of a mechanical door. The door opened and the two entered the room. The room had a few people and white coats. Some were on chairs behind computers. Others walking around and moving stuff.
The center of the room had a round, metallic table. The top, a blue screen and floating holographic displays on top of it. In front of the table was General Logan.
"We've arrived general. What was it that we were summoned for." Klyde said in a formal tone.
"The research center at base B-17 have discovered some 'new tech' that'll improve our fire arms."
"B-17? Aren't they low on soldiers?" Mark asked.
"Yes. They asked us to help escort this new tech to the main base."
"Ughh. Can't we have the 'Top Dogs' A-5 or 7 do it? They're closer anyways." Mark said as he made air quotes, his annoyance clear by the tone of his voice.
"Their occupied, dumbass." A blond female scientist said teasingly as she passed behind the two.
"H-hey! I'm not dumb!"
"If you aren't then you would've known." She chucked as she picked up a holographic tablet and came back, now standing next to the general.
"You're mean, Lizzy."
"Anyways, as I just said, The nearby bases are occupied so we have to go. They already have the necessary vehicles though we'll still have to go by aircraft."
"And when do we-" Klyde got cut off by a massive thud originating from above the base.
"Uhh, what's that…?" Lizzy asked, her tablet shaking in her hands.
"Whatever it is, it doesn't sound good." Mark responded.
"I suggest recalling and evacuating sir." Klyde suggested.
Another thud was heard, followed by another. Each louder than the last until it finally stopped.
Moments later, a large mechanical fist punched through the roof and the general, who was under it, was immediately crushed.
Lizzy looked at the horrific scene, her eyes widened before letting out an ear piercing scream. Everyone other than Klyde and Mark began panicking. They all ran to the door, some even tripping and falling on others.
The fist pulled back out, leaving a flattened and bloody general on the floor. It made sure of the time in the process. The hole was now big enough to show who the culprit is. A giant humanoid mech, coated in white and gray. About 30 meters tall. [20 feet]
"Huhh? Did I kill him already…?" A bratty female voice came out from the mech. "What a bore. They weren't really joking I guess. Ughh, guess I should destroy this base, starting with you guys down there, hehe~."
Klyde clenched his fist before turning a dial on his wrist. Mark, hearing the dial clicking looked at Mark. Though he couldn't see it, he could tell how much rage was going through Klyde.
"Klyde, I need you to calm down now okay…?"
But Klyde didn't listen as he jumped out of the base through the roof and landed on the knee of the mech. He let out a battle cry as he ran up the giant mech.
"I'LL KILL YOU!" Klyde yelled.
"Awwww~, is someone a little angry?" She taunted.
The mech picked him up from its thigh and threw him down to the ground. Klyde scream in agony, his limbs were twisted and broken, unable to move.
"Ahh, yes~! Scream for me, dear! AHAHAHA." She laughed as the mech picked him up by his head.
He was forced to watch as the entire base got littered with bombs fired from the mech. Everything his life was built from, the people he grew around, all being destroyed and he could do was watch.
"I hope you enjoyed the view. Goodnight now, sweetie~~" She laughed once before crushing his head.
Klyde opened his eyes and was blinded by a bright, white light. He felt himself floating in open space. He looked around but saw nothing else but this white void he was in.
In a flash, a figure appeared in front of him, a man who's body was purely white.
"Hmmm, Klyde was it?" The man chuckled.
"Huh…? What… are you?" He asked weakly.
"That's not your concern right now. Just call me interstellar or whatever." The man said.
"What am I doing here?" Then, memories of the early events flooded him. "The base! My- my friends, the base!" Then realization hit him like a truck. "I died… didn't I…"
"Bravo." The man clapped his hands. "Let me jump straight into the point. You died and I'm going to isekai you. Your main objective in this world is to conquer the continent of Erina. Got it? Good, bye!"
"Huh, wait what…" before he could even finish his sentence, the man swiped his hand, and he vanished from the void.
—— Present ——
Klyde slowly got up and took a look at his surroundings, but was didn't recognize the area he was in. He reached for his sword in case of emergency but as he was about to grab it, he remembered it all. How he let his friends, everyone he knew die in front of him. How he failed to save his friend. How he couldn't do anything as the place he grew up in got destroyed as he watched.
"I failed them… I- I let them all die…"
His hands started trembling, his heart pounding. His breaths became short and heavy as tears rolled down his eyes.
"I was weak! All I could I could do was watch as they died!" He said as he held his sword, pressing the tip on his neck.
"I don't deserve to live…"
As he was about to stab himself, he felt a sharp pain on his heart, causing him to scream out in pain, dropping his sword and dropping on his knees, clenching on his chest. Or at least try to through his armour and fell to the floor.
Then he heard a notification-like sound followed by holographic screen opening in front of him with text on it, though he could barely read it.
≤ System ≥
< ARKON attempting to kill itself. >
< Termination action taken. >
< Suicide attempt terminated. >
≤ Warning ≥
< If Arkon were to die through any means whilst having a Class X task, the soul will live out the rest of this worlds existence through endless means of fortune >
≤ System ≥
< System initialization Started >
Panting, he narrowly opened his eyes, seeing the screens in front of him and read all the text.
His eyes widened in shock upon reading the information on the second window. He had already lost his will to live. He started breaking down on the spot. He plucked the grass out of the grass from anger and frustration and beat the ground under it. He then curled up into a ball and he continued to cry. He hated himself for being too weak. If only he had been stronger he could've done something, he thought.
An hour went by as he just said there, still curled up until he heard the system open. He titled his head up and looked at the screen.
≤ System ≥
< System initialization complete >
< System now active >
He read the message from the system but didn't really care. He didn't have the motivation or will to live to explore this new world.
"God you're hopeless" he heard Interstellar's voice. "Not even the threat of putting your soul through endless torture could motivate you. I've gone for almost a day but here you are. Ughh. How about this, there's something in this world that can help you reunite with your friend or whatever. Now you keep thinking about that while I go check some other worlds."
Klyde's eye widened in shock as he heard Interstellar's suggestion. The thought that he could make up for not being able to save his friends sparked him with hope. He felt like he had a purpose now. And with this new hope he stood up, taking a deep breath before uttering "System, open" And the holographic screen popped up once more.

"As I thought. Just like in all the stuff Mark used to make me watch." He sighed. "The status menu is pretty lack luster in terms of info. I don't see myself using it much. So I should be able to close and open these with a thought."
Klyde then closed his eyes, picturing the screens disappearing. And disappear, they did. He then opened the eyes to see the screens gone, not to his surprise.
"If status shows this then how do I check my attributes…"

"The system doesn't seem all too useful at the moment so I should get going-" Klyde got cut off as a system tab opened."
