Ring!
Ring!
Ring!
"Hello...?" I picked up the ringing phone beside me, trying to focus my vision after being asleep for the past...
4 hours said the digital alarm clock that blank on and off every 2 seconds.
"Wanna hang out?" Dal, my bestfriend of 11 years interrupted. One of his favorite hobbies was to disturb my sleep schedule with his late night adventures.
"...No!."
"Too late I'm already out your window."
A light creak could be heard as a result of the window being opened.
"I said I'm not going." I groaned as I covered myself under my sheets.
"You have to, Ox. You promised remember."
I recalled the moment of when I was to busy doing something not paying attention, while he was talking and might said yes to something just to get him to shout up.
'hey, you wanna go to a party on Friday?'
...
'Ox?'
'huh, yeah...sure'
'promise?'
'yeah'
Oh shit I did!
"That's not fair, you knew I wasn't paying attention." I wept.
"Well than quit daydreaming and zoning out all time, neh." I felt Dal move closer to the bed then grabbed the blanket and lifted it off. Allowing the cold atmosphere to cover my entire body.
"Eh that's cold."
"I don't care and wear this." He said throwing a t-shirt he got from my drawer.
I had learned after years of being friends with Dal that even if I tried there was no way I was getting out of this.
"There, let's go." He fixed my shirt sticking his tongue out like a child.
"I hate you." I lied.
"You know you love me."
We climbed out through the window, quietly. Trying not to wake my parents. I honestly wishes at that moment my parents would caught us, so I wouldn't have to be dragged along on this little night adventure.
We walked through the street since non of us had a car yet. I yawned out of tiredness.
"So where we goin'."
"Somewhere."
"Where is somewhere exactly?"
"You'll see when you get there."
"Fine."
I kept quiet after that. I went through my right hand packet hoping to find my phone then I remembered that I had forgotten to take it earlier because he was rushing me.
As I was lost in the realization of having left my phone loud music could be heard not too far away.
"Were here." Dal said trying to get me excited. I just stood there, eyed him down and signed. The outside may have been loud but the inside made my ears want to bleed. People were drinking and dancing. Some were making out, I felt disgusted at the scene, people seriously the term get a room is there for a reason.
The only reason I was here is because I love my best friend if it was anyone else, trust me I won't even have answered the phone.
"Take it easy and enjoy. I've noticed you've been down lately so I brought you here to cheer up." It is true that I been a little moody these past few days but couldn't he take me somewhere where better than a party.
"Com' on, you know I have a feeling that something crazy is goin' to happen that will change our lives for the better."
"Or worse, which ever one it is. I'm ready." He finished while making a fist to show that he was determined and ready as he said.
"I think it's for the worst." I finally spoke out, loudly so he could hear over the deafening music.
"I go and get us drinks." Dal left.
I walked around after a while because I got bored of seeing the same three couple flirting infront of me. A song I really liked came on so my mood got a little bit better, the song was heaven and back by Chase Atlantic my favorite band. Their new song Facedown was coming out soon, so I couldn't be more excited.
"Hey there Ox." An alto voice spoke to me causing me to shift my position. The person speaking long dark brown hair flowing down her torso, ink black eyes and a warm but confident presence. Quinn Heist, a very good friend of mine, always there always supportive that's just who she was.
"I didn't think parties were your thing." I pointed out while giving a nod.
"Didn't think they were your thing too."
I pressed my lips together knowing she had a fair point.
"Dal dragged you here... didn't he."
"Yep."
"Where is he now?" She asked taking a sip from her drink. "He lied about getting us some drinks when he knows I wouldn't even have accepted it, cuz I don't drink."
"Let me guess, his probably flirting with someone right now."
"Yep."
"... Hahaha that is so like him, I don't get to see you guys a lot anymore so it's good to see some things still haven't changed."
Quinn and I talked about the past and the good memories we shared before we got to busy with our own life to hang out much. "Oh I remember that, to be honest I think that teacher had it out for you because of that one time you corrected him in class."
"No he didn't, he just wanted me to try harder."
"Try harder in what hmm." I stared at her for a few seconds before I finally understood what she said. One thing about Quinn is that she is one of the most innocent looking people but only someone who truly knew her would know that she was the most dirtiest minded of them all.
"Ohhh! Quinn!" I said as I laughed my lungs out.
"I'm sorry it just came out." She laughed too.
"Haha... Anyway I gotta go. Luckily you distracted me from drinking tonight because I'm driving."
"See you around, Ox."
"See you around, Quinn." I repeat her words back to her, it had became our way of saying goodbye.
I waved to her while she gave me a back wave without looking back. Not to long after I won't to find Dal. I found him not looking too happy as a another guy who I didn't get to see the face of, left his sight.
"That jerk..." He whispered under his breath. "You know him?." He was surprised to see me and flinched."No important." I thought Dal probably had a argument with him and left it at that, after all Dal didn't get along with everyone, especially Theo his brother's best friend. His hated for him was something else.
I honestly thought they had a little enemies to lovers thing going on but I knew Dal would never in a billion years admit it.
I could tell the guy was too drunk and wouldn't be able to walk home by himself or even with me caring him.
"Call my brother." He said vomiting on pavement out the house where the party was held.
Looking at the time, which was 02:33 AM I hesitated. "If you don't you're gonna have to carry me all the way home." He warned.
"Ahh... Fine." I went through his contacts and found his brother's number. It rang for a little while then I heard a voice on the other end.
"Hello?" His tired sleepy voice caused my heart to beat faster.
"Dal if you are at some party again forgot back it I'm not picking you up." He warned.
"Ahh... No this is Knox, his friend actually. I'm sorry to bother you but he said I should call you."
...
The silence killed me.
"I'll be right there."
