Crash! Bam! Slam! Crash!
Windows smashed. Buildings collapsed. Nothing but rubble and flames in the current surroundings of Silver Sentinel. Half of Main Street is destroyed. The cause of said destruction?
A fight, of course, between two larger-than-life figures.
The first figure is one of humanity's greatest heroes, Silver Sentinel. A man who hails from a planet far out in the cosmos and who was raised by humans. He may look and act human, but the power he wields is anything but. Silver Sentinel has super strength, speed, durability, and the power of flight.
Then there is the second larger-than-life figure, Overdrive Iron. Half-man, half-machine, all fury. Overdrive Iron is a strong and daring cyborg supervillain with a very large vendetta against Silver Sentinel and will stop at nothing to destroy him.
The two men have fought several times in the past, but during their last skirmish, Overdrive Iron was arrested and imprisoned for his crimes. However, three months back there was a daring breakout of the superpowered prison Nyxhold. During said breakout, over a dozen superpowered inmates escaped, including our man Overdrive Iron.
He hadn't been seen in the three months since, but he made his presence felt today when he arrived to attack Silver Sentinel during a ceremony in which the superhero was meant to get a key to the city. Overdrive Iron appeared from nowhere, smashing Silver Sentinel in the back of the head in a sneak attack. Overdrive's fury was unrelenting, moving swiftly to keep the assault up, landing blow after quick blow on Silver Sentinel, destroying most of Belmont Street in the process.
Overdrive gave absolutely zero care about the destruction he caused or the innocents he put in danger. Dozens were injured in this assault, but the only thing on the mind of Overdrive Iron was to bring pain to the man of the day, Silver Sentinel.
One more wicked punch sends Silver Sentinel into a building under construction at the end of Belmont Street. With that we are caught up to the present, with nothing but sheer destruction surrounding Silver Sentinel as he lies bruised and bloodied in the rubble of a collapsed building that was under construction.
As Silver Sentinel gathers his bearings, he looks around. Thankfully it doesn't look like anyone was in the building, so there are no casualties.
All Silver Sentinel can hear is a loud ringing in his ears. He slowly tries standing, a bit dazed from the brutal attack by Overdrive. He was caught completely off guard by Overdrive's assault, a very rare thing to have happen to Sentinel.
As soon as Sentinel is on his feet, from the distance shrouded in dust and debris comes a destroyed sedan being chucked in the direction of him. He jumps aside, still beaten up, but dodges the flying vehicle.
Crash! Bang!
Even more debris goes flying everywhere from the car smashing the remains of the building behind Silver Sentinel. From the distance a loud and almost taunting voice comes into focus.
"Silver Sentinel..." The voice of Overdrive Iron bellows in a slow, sinister tone. "Oh boy, you have no idea how good this feels. Putting my hands on you. Ruining your big day. Hearing you breathe so heavily. Your blood... the feeling of your blood on my hands... it just feels so magnificent. It just feels right, like justice is prevailing on this beautiful day."
As Overdrive says his speech, Silver Sentinel stands up and walks towards him, his fists clenched as they both come into view of each other. Sentinel grits his teeth through the pain, giving a powerful and furious glare towards Overdrive Iron.
"That expression on your face... it's priceless!" Overdrive says in a mocking tone, licking his lips at the sight of a beaten and furious Sentinel.
"You speak of Justice..." Silver Sentinel says in a tired but annoyed tone. "Justice is prevailing? What about this has been justice? You injured who knows how many people. Destroyed a large chunk of this street... this street in the city I love. My home, Starcrest City. The home of millions. You've let your hatred towards me blind you, Bucky."
"Going by our legal names now, are we? If only I knew yours..." says Overdrive in a crossed tone. "Blind? No, Silver boy, I am not blind. I see, as a matter of fact. I see exactly what I want. The man whose incompetence let half my body burn in that building! To see that man on his knees! To that man regret his failure! You ruined my life! I... I am the victim here. You made me into this... fueled my rage. Whatever comes of it... whatever comes of it, it's on you."
"I can hear it in your voice, Bucky..." Silver Sentinel says, standing up straight, unclenching his fists as he walks towards Overdrive. "Your voice, your body language, and your very soul are full of doubts. You even see how you're blinded. You need help. Don't worry, I'll see that you get it."
"Shut your mouth, you piece of shit!" Overdrive shouts in a rage, lunging at Sentinel. He tries striking Sentinel with blow after blow, but Sentinel isn't blindsided this time and can dodge the attacks easily while looking at him sternly. Overdrive continues shouting while trying to land a hit on Sentinel. "Die! Die! You deserve it! Everything you get! You let this happen to me! Become a robotic freak! You made me lose everything! You son of a bitch! Take your punishment!"
Sentinel eventually decides to catch one of Overdrive's attempted blows. Still not finished, Overdrive then headbutts Sentinel with the metallic portion of his face. He lands a few more blows, sending Sentinel staggering back. Sentinel, however, quickly snaps out of the daze it puts him in and grits his teeth, clenching his right hand into a fist. Realizing Overdrive is too enraged to end this fight peacefully, Sentinel goes on the offensive, using his speed to lunge at him and sending him flying high with a wicked punch to the midsection. He then flies up in the sky, where he sends Overdrive, going at an incredible speed, as he lands a few more quick and powerful blows on him, sending Overdrive crashing down to the already destroyed Belmont Street.
Crash! Bang! Boom!
Overdrive lands hard and is knocked out by the blows and impact of the attack. Injured but not dead. Sentinel lands first, checking on the civilians and helping out anyone injured get to medics. The main government unit that deals with these matters arrives on the scene: the Superpowered Protection Authority, aka the SPA.
Sentinel gives his statement to the agents as they arrive. He then watches as they bring out the gear and bind him with energy suppressant cuffs, used specifically to weaken superpowered beings.
"Make sure he gets a thorough examination when you lot take him in..." says Silver Sentinel in a tired but still firm-sounding tone. "I can't quite place it, but something just didn't feel right about this fight. His rage felt almost forced to me... like something was almost compelling him. As well, I don't remember his fists packing quite the same punch as they did the last time we crossed paths."
The SPA agree to examine him once they secure him back in Nyxhold Prison. They then thank Silver Sentinel for his time and begin the cleanup process for all the wreckage and debris on the street. After taking one last look around and finding no civilians in immediate danger in the area, he takes off into the skies above.
Silver Sentinel takes a look down and around Starcrest City. Feeling saddened people got hurt on what was meant to be a joyous day for him. He then takes off, looking from above, keeping watch over the city he holds dear, ready to do anything to protect it.
