In an underfunded school in an underfunded town a boy sat in english class writing down his daily creative writing as his blue eyes scanned the paper and his white hair fell ocer his eyes. When he finished he put his pencil down and massaged his wrist to ease his pain. The school never had a good teaching plan so when he was little the school only had him write the same word down over and over until he couldn't anymore.
A little while later Mr. Johnson started the class on their next assignment.
"Alright, today we will be starting our spoken word poem segment." He said before explaining what they will be doing.
When the class is over he gets up and leaves the room to go home but is stopped in the hallway by another student.
"Where's my homework Sokudo?" The boy asked as he towered over him.
"It's not finished yet i was busy yesterday." Sokudo answered.
"I'm not gonna pay you if you can't finish it when you say you will." He said as he pushed Sokudo against the locker.
"Dude i don't have all the time in the world to do your shit, i got siblings to feed." He said.
"And i got grades to keep up." He replied.
"Then get smarter." He said.
"I'll show you smart!" He said before punching Sokudo in the face causing his head to slam into the locker.
(Just take it Sokudo... we can't cause anything to get worse)
The boy grabbed his shoulder to steady him then slammed his fist into Sokudo's gut. Sokudo fell to the ground clutching his gut as strained gasps of pain left his mouth.
(Shit... my spleens been swollen all day... and then this!)
"No wonder your father died... he wanted to leave you." The boy said before spitting on him.
He struggle back up to his feet and begins walking over to the elementary and waits where he usually does. A few moments later a little boy and little girl run through the school doors along with a bunch of other students. They run straight to him hugging his legs.
"How was school you two?" He asked.
"It was amazing bubby!" His brother yelled.
"Yeah we got to make cute hats out of paper!" His sister exclaimed.
"That sounds fun." He said as they began walking home.
When they get home he turns the tv on and sets them on the couch.
"Alright I'll be back soon" He said as he opened the door.
"Alright bubby." The kids said as they watched the flash cartoon.
As he was about to step out the door he heard a woman yell from upstairs.
"I'm out of beer!" She yelled as she threw a wallet down the stairs.
"Yes mother." He said as he grabbed the wallet and left the house.
He closed the door behind himself and began walking down the street crossing to get to a corner and then crossing again to get to the conveniance store. Upon stepping into the conveniance the familiar maze of cheap snacks, drinks, tobacco products, and the flickering of the fluorescent lights floods his vision. He walks into the back where the alcohol is grabbing a large case of beer and walking back to the front.
"Your mom again?" He said as he rang up the beer.
"Yeah." Sokudo said as he put the money on the counter before taking the beer and leaving.
After opening the door he is assaulted by the stench of pot but ignores it to leave. He stops at the sidewalk and looks around noticing two men dragging a large machine into an abandoned building.
"Careful dumbass this thing costs more than your family!" One of the men exclaimed.
"I got it damn..." The other man said as they entered the building with the machine.
He walks over to the building they entered hiding the case of beer under an old truck before entering. He waits until the guys are out of vision before doing so, when her enters he sees a long corridor that splits off into two more. He goes down the right corridor eventually stumbling upon a room. He looks into the room and finds the two men hooking up a large machine. He snuck in hiding behind some boxes as he watched them work.
"How much longer is this gonna take?" One of the men asked as he sat on a box smoking.
"Shut the fuck up this is an incredibly dangerous process, if we can get this down we can change the past in our favor!" The other man said as he finished the machine with a click.
"Is that it?" The first man asked.
"If we followed the instructions right... yes." The second man said as they left the room.
As they leave he comes out from behind the boxes and begin checking the room for things to sell. He looks at the complex machine when the door he entered from locks with a loud kachunk.
"What the hell!?" He exclaimed as he rushed to the door.
"Let me out!" He yelled as he slammed his hands into the metal door.
As he beats against the door he fails to hear the rustling coming from behind. A hand reaches out and touches his shoulder causing him to spin around and launch a punch forward but stops it just an inch before landing.
"Woah im stuck in here like you chill!" The boy exclaims as he raises his hands above his head.
Sokudo put his arm down easing his muscles before walking around the room once more. He squats down to look inside of the machine the men were working on before.
"Uh... what are you doing in here?" The boy asked.
"...Looking for food to feed my siblings... you?" Sokudo answered.
"I like to exploring abandoned buildings." The boy said before squatting next to him.
He watches as Sokudo messes around inside the machines central housing compartment.
"What are you doing? Didn't one of those guys say this thing was dangerous?" He asked.
"Im trying to remove it's core... by the looks of it it's very new, probably a recent breakthrough which means it'll sell for a lot... and yes they did say it's dangerous but theres no power going into it so i dont see how it can pose any danger." He explained.
