Chapter 5 - Closer Than Before

[BL] Define the Relationship...

Yuvaan stood outside Aarav's dorm, holding a small box of sweets. He had picked them up from the local bakery, remembering Aarav once said he liked coconut flavor. It was a quiet gesture, but it meant something.

Aarav opened the door with a smile. His hair was messy, and he wore a loose t-shirt that hung off one shoulder. He looked relaxed, happy to see Yuvaan.

You brought these for me, Aarav asked, taking the box.

Yuvaan nodded. Thought you might like them.

Aarav stepped aside. Come in. I was just making tea.

Yuvaan entered the room. It smelled like cinnamon and books. The lights were dim, and soft music played from Aarav's speaker. Something slow and dreamy.

They sat on the bed, side by side, sharing the sweets and sipping tea. Aarav leaned his head on Yuvaan's shoulder.

I like this, Aarav said. Just us. No noise. No questions.

Yuvaan felt his heart flutter. He turned slightly, brushing Aarav's hair back from his forehead.

You always smell like paper and rain, Yuvaan said quietly.

Aarav laughed. That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me.

They looked at each other for a long moment. Then Aarav reached out and touched Yuvaan's cheek with gentle fingers.

Can I kiss you again, Aarav whispered.

Yuvaan nodded.

The kiss was soft at first. Slow. Their lips met like they had all the time in the world. Then it deepened, full of warmth and quiet longing. Yuvaan's hand slid around Aarav's waist, pulling him closer. Aarav's fingers tangled in Yuvaan's shirt, holding tight.

They didn't speak. They didn't need to.

Later, they lay on the bed, side by side, sharing one earbud and listening to music. Aarav traced circles on Yuvaan's palm with his finger.

I want to learn every part of you, Aarav said. Every scar, every smile,

Yuvaan turned to him. I'm not good with words. But I feel safe with you.

Aarav smiled and kissed his hand.

That's enough for me.

They fell asleep like that, tangled together, hearts beating in quiet rhythm.

Outside, the world kept moving. But inside that small room, everything felt still.

And for the first time Yuvaan didn't wonder what they were.

He knew.
